Tomorrow we will apparently have the outcome for the verdict on the court case that has been in the Supreme court of Canada- our 'highest' (pun intended).
Can patients continue to grow their own medicine?
This cartoon means no disrespect, quite the opposite in my mind.
Storm told me 'the verdict will be in on Wednesday around noon'.
I had no fear cross my mind. I feel at peace.
I KNOW the right decision has to be made. The world is watching.
The Supreme Court of Canada will let medical patients continue to grow their own cannabis.
I think people will have to be "grand fathered in" :
Grandfathered in is the right or sanction provided in a statute, zoning ordinance, law etc exempting a person or entity from certain provisions contained there in, to maintain their present activities, which will be affected by the new statute, ordinance etc. For example, the Federal Assault Weapons Ban made it illegal to sell and own a semi automatic weapon that was manufactured after the date the law went into effect. Weapons that were manufactured before that date were "grandfathered in" and were allowed to be legally owned and sold.
**American definition, the same meaning - ironic they discuss guns.
Which is the only outcome I can imagine.
When we applied for medical cannabis for Storm at the age of 14, we were told "he was too young but he could have a designated grower!" I remember the conversation like it was yesterday and Storms face when she told us this. The rest is history.
Frankly, we invested thousands of dollars & took out a loan with the bank, countess hours, endless research over the years to assure Storm has the best medicine available for him, his body, his needs & now mine & we do. Thank God & our grower. :)
When you have a child diagnosed with a terminal illness and see how cannabis helps - YOU would DO what ever you can to ease his pain and keep it away for as long as possible.
There is no way they can NOW come and tell people 'we changed our minds.'
I do NOT believe Canada would turn patients not criminals over plants.
Many with severe terminal illnesses, unlike the media portrays.
The stress alone this case has added to many patients I can tell you first hand, has been severely CRIMINAL.
I do not believe Canada will now revoke & refuse patients already given permission and even promoted to grow their own cannabis PLANTS.
Come on we all see where this is going anyhow in a few years... Tweed & Snoop dog?
I blogged over a year ago about how it was going to be just like a 'brand name beer'.
Personally I was disappointed, as a mother of a child who suffers like Storm has & the stress added to our lives with all the bullshit with Steven Haper (good riddance) and soon it will all be just a big recreational drug business. I have nothing against 'Snoop' btw, just another business man.
Patients have been slapped in the face and kicked to the curb. Made to suffer over $$$
Oh well- business is business and if not them then someone else. I'm still hearing and seeing all kinds of horror stories about shitty meds that patients are getting from some of these legitimate legal grows and paying $$$ for.
For something everyone could grow in their backyard for personal enjoyment, like our tomatoes that we jar at the end of a season.
'Grandfathered in' - makes me kinda sad.. they do this because they know we are not well, when we die the right to grows dies with us.
I believe it is a God given right, everyone should be able to grow this PLANT if they choose to do so. IT IS A PLANT we are talking about - never forget that. Please.
Just like beer- we can make it but we'd rather go to the beer store - most of us.
Only this is NOT beer- NOT alcohol (which hurts) it is MEDICINE that is saving my sons life. & mine.
The Verdict is simple.
Canada we love you & we know you love us back!!
'You got our back '- I'm not worried.
So let's Celebrate!!!
When checking out the Supreme court of Canadasite they have a terrific download for kids!!! Very interesting and interactive. I was please and impressed. ;) http://www.scc-csc.ca/res/education/kit-trousse/act/compile-eng.pdf
Saw 7- Hummingbird love.
I love Hummingbirds but I did not see one this year. Not at my feeder, not anywhere.
Slightly disappointed- I'll be better prepared for next year! I will research over the winter & design a humming bird feeding station. lol Hummingbirds love cannabis, you can often see photos taken with them hovering about the beautiful bud. (seen below)
What better idea for saw 7 painted with TLC & THC.
Humming bird love is an 8 inch saw blade and is for sale on my Art for Purchase page.
I painted it yesterday & started saw 8 as well - and they saved my sanity for sure.
If you drove by our house around 8:30 a.m. yesterday, you would have seen the pumpkins fly! Literally - well not a pumpkin but a skeleton, and mini coffin or two. Fly to the curb & front lawn as far as I could throw.
It's September - Time for Georgia & Norm to fight about halloween. ;(
*WIVES - take warning - if your hubby is building a halloween display - watch closely and keep it under control!!! Ours as you know got out of control. It grew big and became a job, a month long job at that. I can't imagine the money spent. I don't have to imagine, I have a pretty good idea and I want it to end, we are far from rich and have other priorities before a coffin gets made. SIMPLE. I walked into the garage yesterday and saw - not one new FANCY coffin but 2! WTF. I knew about the first and decided to 'let it go' and even encouraged - my mistake. It seems like nothing to you but it is a big deal here for too many reasons to mention- let's just say I lost it.
I once again can only imagine what the neighbours must think - lol - well they know! They do. I've talked with them over the years and they are in agreement! IT got too big.
My biggest fear now is some little kids will get hurt.
IF we had land, or if someone had the facility - I would encourage it BIG time.
Anyway - let's say it was a very quiet day and remainder of the weekend... I know Norm knows I'm serious, now. I feel bad about 'the pumpkin' - one cannot be repaired, I really did lose it & I'm not proud of that either. A marriage is an agreement, you don't lie or sneak about stuff, not anything. Sooner or later it comes out and someone is hurt.
IT is full of comprises! Trust me after 23 years- you have no idea. ON BOTH PARTS.
If something like a 'holiday and decorations' gets in the way and can not be resolved - then perhaps it is time to think about parting. It make me laugh out loud - I do think, if Norm and I were to divorce it won't be over some mistress, it will be over a skeleton in a coffin.
Today is a new day. New start. New saw blade to paint.
New COFFIN to finish, I did make the mistake as saying 'he could set up a small display' on the from lawn - compromise.
I'll paint saw 8 today! A cardinal on a sunflower!
The bluejay on the sunflower (saw 4) did not sell but was donated to OurLady of the Lake for their Annual Tea Party fundraiser! I was told the proceeds go to a youth group. ;) Perfect!
Fall is here and what a beautiful day it was.
Yesterday I helped my friend Linda at the harvest Festival in keswick! it was a terrific time, I had the opportunity to spend some time with Linda's grand daughters- one of which is quite the talented artist, as well as pretty bright, I look forward to some cartooning lessons in exchange for some 'Instagram' lessons lol. Poppy won 2nd place in the costume event! Woot Woot!
In her little TuTu, tail all up in the air, she never barked at anyone, was quite confident and curious about the horses/ponies.. she rolled in horse poop in her TuTu!
O.M.Goodness! I mean come on how often does a girl get to roll in horse poop?
I saw some friends I had bot seen in awhile and was grateful to the Kocky dog, I was able to medicate in the back, I'd rather not in front of kids. I don't know how much help we were to linda in between horse carriage rides and face painting! LOL I am grateful she invited me regardless. I hope to next year have a table beside her.
Today, still exhausted I mostly puttered, played and drew.
A few photos...
This is one drawing I wish you could see in person. I scan at a poor resolution, one that can't be duplicated with out loss of detail. I finish paintings using white and this one just pops ;-)
I really enjoyed doing it. It is a gift for a friend.
Here we worry about medicine and growing and there now they are worry about the soil under their feet and growing food is more of a concern. I’ve read several times over the years that planting Cannabis can help clean and repair the soil. Why not at least try?!
Over politics? I think it’s a bit late for that. What ever it takes at this point is what the Japanese Government owes it’s people. Owes US the rest of the people that share this planet to plant this PLANT. Now.
Here is a link to an interesting related article:http://www.cannabisculture.com/content/2013/10/16/Can-Hemp-Marijuana-and-Mushrooms-Fix-Fukushima-Part-1-What-Happened
If all you can do is raise awareness than do that, or think about them, send them good vibes and love. No one likes to wonder if what we feed our children is killing them and the Japanese don’t have much of a choice right now. ;-(
I just made friends with a few people from Japan - one day I hope to visit. It’s so awesome having FB to see into their daily lives. I’m grateful for that on several levels. The differences... then you start to notice the same.
The same crimes worldwide, against people. People standing up for something that is wrong in their country.
Protests, punishment and in some cases ‘lack of’. India and rape.
I think we should know, and should say - wow, I am lucky that is not happening here. BUT THEN speak up and say “Really, in this day?!! - Should WE (as humans) allow that to be happening anywhere to each other? SPEAK UP!
Do you think you are here to live in the shadows without opinion? Then why have a brain. ^ ^^ This is me speaking to myself in my head. ^^^ LOL
I find me very hard to ignore.
Over a plant...
It's back to nature. For us anyhow. More fresh veges, reading labels and focusing on what goes in before it comes out, in one way or another. If it can be stored in a box for 6 months we don't want it. Originally, I saw a post with a photo of a horse, it instantly made me smile. this is my version.
Is there anyone who claims not to know the benefits of choosing a salad over a cheese burger? Choice. What we put into out bodies. Food and medicine.
The choice should always be OUR own.
Every time I read HOW Health Canada is justifying 'weeding out the growers' - all I see is excuses and lies. Not to mention very unfair to ASSume everyone is a criminal just because they enjoy the passion of gardening.
OR never ASSUME that every grow room is a FACTORY/warehouse/Laboratory.
Although I’ll admit, hard to do other wise if your only form of cannabis education is via the mainstream media - I will say they are getting better.
I think it is more of a case you can’t hide the truth much fu*king longer!!
Many times people have a simple out door garden, a closet garden, small tents designed specifically for indoor growing. MUCH LIKE many grow systems that people use in their homes who are concerned about GMO’s. Many have converted rooms, even a basement. How many people brew their own beer/ wine? Worse - how many people have a meth lab set up in their homes? More than you know; after all that is where the true $$ is, with serious addiction come steady clients.
It is nice to have control of what goes into ONES body and WHY shouldn’t we?!
Not according to Health Canada- it is very dangerous.
The biggest danger is keeping it illegal.
PROHIBITION, the new changes are JUST a new form of PROHIBITION.
You also imagine (thanks to the media) immigrants, stoners and hardened crooks to be growing Cannabis - YOU forget or are not educated much on the others - The parents growing for children who are suffering with cancer or HIV, a husband growing for his wife... who needs it for her nausea and chronic pain. Kids growing it for parents!! BECAUSE it is easier and cheaper! Just like growing it in your back yard!
WHO has made it a crime? Well, Health Canada and it’s changes will now make it a crime for thousands who were all growing their own medicine. Thousands who were LEGALLY growing their own medicine.
Thousands now that won’t be able to grow or afford their medicine.
Thousands of Canadians and their families turned into criminals... why?
For wanting to feel better? Not hurting anyone. Not hurting themselves.
Where exactly is the crime?
The CRIME is letting Health Canada fu*king with peoples lives, physically and mentally causing them added unnecessary stress to already seriously ill Canadians.
I would never have believed ‘we’ as a country or people were capable... I guess it is the reason I’m living it. Hard to turn a blind eye to what pokes you in the other! LOL
Today I celebrate with banana bread and a clean Bong!
Wow - what a criminal I am. Thanks to Cannabis : my twitch tames to the point I can walk better, get out and garden, hang some laundry and make dinner for my family - your everyday stoner mom stuff. Thanks to cannabis my son can go to his job and have a somewhat normal life ;-) ...
Don’t ASSume all you ‘read’ is true. Ask someone who is ‘LIVING’ it.
Google images of Leona - what do you see? Many like this one.... a picture is worth a thousand words.
I have sent letters, e mail and now posted on Leona's FB page but never even an acknowledgement.
APPARENTLY several people were consulted - patients, about the changes but everyone I have spoken with said pretty much everything they suggested or said was simply ignored.
IMO it was all just for LOOKS.
Now to read - Canadians will be 'saving tax' dollars no longer having to grow Cannabis for sick patients! WOW.
SUCH BULL it is mind blowing.
REALLY!?? Do you think we are idiots? Who's taxes will pay for these people when you send them to jail for growing plants? Many are already on disability... and these peopel will still need medical attention - more $$$ for tax payers..
How much does it cost to keep a Canadian in Jail for 6 years?
http://news.nationalpost.com/2011/07/18/prison-costs-soar-86-in-past-five-years/For instance, the cost of keeping a male inmate in prison rose from $88,067 per year in 2006 to $109,699 in 2009, according to the most recent data from Corrections and Conditional Release Statistical Overview.
I want to know who's tax dollars will pay for all these people who are determined to continue to grow their medicine! NOT CRIMINALS! What would YOU DO!!!
Many have invested in all the necessary equipment and I do say INVESTED - so what are they expected to do - stop? SOMETHING they have been legally permitted to do for years!? Because HEALTH CANADA has decided to make changes?
I am really SICK and tired of all patients/growers being ASSUMED criminals.
Is that not the same as we should assume all politicians are crooks?
Or crack heads?
I am not alone, I know so many people who are frustraited, angry, depressed, frightened all because of HEALTH CANADA and the proposed changes to the MMAR. On top of that they feel alone and IGNORED. I can relate.
Does my opinion not mater?
Does my son not matter?
If Leona won't help us who will? Is she not the HEALTH MINISTER???
Leona won't help us.
WE must help ourselves by bringing attention to this treatment of Canadians
as what it is CRUEL.
Adding stress to the thousands that are already ill and suffering is shameful.
OVER A PLANT.
SPREAD the word, make sure people understand what is happening.
The next time you read about saving tax payers money, wonder at what cost?
This cost will be lives.
Will Leona answer questions then?
