Perfect timing, visiting a friend and she was reading this article, I love it when everything literally falls into place.

This article in national geographic is one of the best at explaining sugar, IMO.
Sugar is considered as dangerous as the tobacco industry and as ruthless.
I personally had no idea sugar was in so much and for years fell into the fat free frenzy.
I believe the best blessings come in disguise - it was not until I became ILL that I started to eat healthier, fresh, organic and now, after I eat this last peanut butter cup- more sugarless!

http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2013/08/sugar/cohen-text?rptregcta=join_free_np&rptregcampaign=20130826_lightbox_membership_nonhp_all_c#close-modal

When Storm was little I was guilty of sugar ignorance. Now addicted, mostly for the foods I Introduced into his life and diet (shitty gatekeeper)  all I can do now is make all our meals healthier, shop for the best ingredients and educate. Storm is great he is the most health conscience of all of us.

NORM, now there is the serious addict.
ASK anyone. We still argue weekly, over his eating habit, he will go an entire day eating only candy - HIS choice. Only last week I said it quite simply - “If at the age of 51 knowing all we know about food, health, etc, - and if he lives in this house - HE DOES, yet he still will choose to consume an entire bag of twizzlers for lunch - Oh well. I have no control over him or his choices. Twizzle away. Make sure the insurance is paid.”

What else can one do? Generations have been brain washed and force fed without even realizing it.

EVEN with what I know I STILL WILL have this peanut butter cup.  I am addicted.
For anyone that might be confused...
I am NOT saying: give your kids cannabis! Sugar is worse!

I am saying Wake up! Pay attention! Research and HELP your children!
I believe there is some serious fear mongering still continuing to go on today - and it is a wonderful distraction- while we continue to put toxins in our children, creating a future generation dependent on medicine. <$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Seriously, before cannabis your child will probably be introduced to these other common Highs and you are not even aware:  Sugar high - Cake, Pop, cookies, cereal
Children’s cough medicines - sugar and chemical high, prescribed medications - more children are on a prescription medication now than ever in history, children as young as 2 have been diagnosed and prescribed antidepressants designed for ADULTS. Alcohol, either from being introduced  for a celebration or kids ‘sneaking’ alcohol is a common practice in many households. Alcohol addiction is one of the worst in the world. Tobacco, as with alcohol is usually first introduced by a family member.

Don’t forget Coffee, energy drinks, glue & solvents...

What example are you setting for your child today?
WE are the original gatekeepers. How are your kids getting high?
Please STOP being distracted by fear mongering. Take control.

Ontario Stupidity League?

Answer this: What is the number one health concern in the United States & Canada regarding children (and adults)!?

Obesity. Not only causing death but untold medical related diseases like diabetes.
You know what comes a close second to killing more people now than car accidents? Prescription drugs, but thats another toon.
Knowing this - now wonder how can we tolerate such a waste of time and resources with the following:

The Ontario Safety League, http://ontariosafetyleague.com   had a media conference   urging people to 'report local convenience store owners if they sell bongs'. etc.
What a joke.

Walk into any convenience store and there are thousands of items all seriously more harmful than a bong. Are we that stupid?  Let’s start with Junk food, the number one cause of obesity in children JUNK FOOD. > not a  piece of glass.
How many has it killed? UNTOLD amounts. and GROWING - pun intended.
How about Energy drinks!  < Numerous deaths - google it. Cigarettes?
Really, IS IT JUST ME?  Are we really that stupid?
Candy? I remember reading a story about some girls that died after playing a marshmallows game - they got stuck in their throat! SERIOUSLY?
Pop, candy, anything you need to make meth it’s all available at your local convenience store.

This is just a Waste of TIME and taxpayers money! Not to mention the aggravation to store owners, and the possible animosity it could cause among neighbors. IF you don’t want it don’t buy it. Enough with the stupidity - especially at a time when  we are being convinced convenient stores should also sell BOOZE.

ALSO - I am VERY tired of reading Cannabis is an illegal drug.
CANNABIS IS A LEGAL medicine in this country
the last time I checked!

It is discrimination at its best.

The Ontario Safety league IMO has too much time on their hands and too much of our
$$  to promote such bullshit.  How sad  they would not rather use the time and  $ and energy to EDUCATE to keep Ontario's SAFE. Not continue reefer madness. What genius came up with this plan?  What a waste of time considering that in fact,  Cannabis just might be legal  in a couple of years. God willing, this insanity will be over soon.
IF the OSL  really cared they would educate those ‘over weight’ walking out with a bag of chips and chocolate bar on the dangers of rising obesity. - But no, - that would be discrimination.

If they are going to continue this ‘fiasco’ then they better also go to every grocery store where I have seen numerous bongs made out of everything from apples to pineapple's to old  pop cans!

Do you see how ridiculous this is?

For the record. IF you want a proper bong - go to a head shop. They can answer your questions, and the selection is much better.  If you don’t want or desire - don’t shop.
As for your corner store. Have we not more serious issues to deal with?

Shame on you OSL, get with the times and educate yourself.

The more I read the less I understand.
Actually  the more I read the more I really understand...
It's not about us, or care for our health it is about $$$
Facts ca not be ignored for much longer.
People are tired of being sick, and sick of being tired.   ;-)

I had to start a paper mache project just to give me a break - although occasionally I find myself drifting on how I want to draw a specific toon..
Have hope! Believe in the power of people to end the insanity.
I was reminded of this one I drew a couple of years ago. Looks like I was right.

Mind Altering substances:

If you think I’m over stretching it on this one think again.

Do you use ANY of the mind altering substances? Every one of them is a Mind altering substance. FACT

Research Sugar, introduced as a drug. Until someone decided it was candy... $.
Cannabis is a plant, use in the past fro everything from Cholic to a tooth ache, and until someone decided it was a Dangerous DRUG it was a HERB.

Never mind any of that.., ALL of the substances on the left have been attributed to death. Sugar - again - a major factor in obesity, diabetes and more.  Alcohol.. abuse, physical hard to a body, impairment, poisoning, responsible for date rape, murder and “ I was drunk...”  and more.

SO PLEASE,  stop telling me, I am wrong.  Me and the other few hundred thousand (who admit to it) and counting that believe Cannabis is a better CHOICE. A Healthier choice.

ONE for using Cannabis as my medicine and also for all those that wish to use recreationally.  Compare the choices and statistics.
THEN lets continue the conversation.
While your at it you can read about Cannabis helps repair the brain.

If you have never tried Cannabis, your opinion is invalid when you judge someone else while you hold that cup of coffee & donut and your evening with a cocktail or two...

A slow and painful death...

I  smoked a cigarette. Once.   Thank God I hated it and became very sick. Never touched it again. I find it incredibly  frustrating to witness the addiction that people have with cigarettes. First thing in the morning and they NEED a SMOKE.   I know people that wake and  bake - start the day with Cannabis - but it is a desire  not a NEED many say - why not - gets them going!
Much like people have their morning coffee.

It is 8:19, my coffee on my desk,  Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
- I will wait a bit before I medicate, I usually like to get up and get something in me see how my arthritis & twitch are and take it from there. ;-)  After my surgery for months the very first thing I did was vaporize. The pain gone, twitch tamed - It helped me REST, relax and forget about he fact that I just had surgery and could feel my brain rattling around.
How is this still happening? Cigarettes  KILL - LOOK it up! Prove me wrong!!!
A slow painful death.  Cigarettes are LEGAL and Cannabis  is NOT?
There is NOT one death attributed from Cannabis alone - THEY cannot prove it causes cancer - as a matter of fact they seem to find the same over and over - that the opposite is in fact true.  Does Cannabis actually help counter act the damages of Tobacco??  YOU tell me!  On my Cannabis education page there is a very education Doc. Link
http://www.georgiatoons.com/cannabis-education.html
- several... take the time, educate yourself and then tell me, why is the one that kills legal?
I have one word that comes to mind...
Genocide.  And the 'group' is humanity

[G]enocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
(a) Killing members of the group;
(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

                                                  ^ check this out :
http://abcnews.go.com/Health/age-children-smoking-indonesia/story?id=14464140
"This is a country where, as soon as a visitor steps off the plane, he is bombarded with cigarette ads on billboards and logos; and where, as "2020" found out, there is more than one "smoking baby."

Second-hand smoke is harmful for everyone, but it’s especially harmful for babies and children. Second-hand smoke can cause ear infections, breathing problems, SIDS, and serious diseases in kids. Kids deserve special protection against second-hand smoke.
There are some 4000 known chemicals in tobacco smoke; at least 250 of them are known to be harmful and more than 50 are known to cause cancer in humans. Tobacco smoke in enclosed spaces is breathed in by everyone, exposing smokers and nonsmokers alike to its harmful effects.   http://www.who.int/features/qa/60/en/index.html

I cannot find any such stats. backed up by facts, on Cannabis smoke.. hmmmmmmmmmmm......

The real gateway is right in font of you.

I asked a week ago -what was your first gateway drug?
For many the response was alcohol.  Many long before the LEGAL age to use. I asked  what was the first drug you used.. Alcohol, Tobacco or Cannabis?  To no surprise the response was alcohol. I admitted the first time I probably drank was at a holiday or family function, champagne  or wine perhaps even s sip of beer.  I remembered  my grandma, dad, mom and several others telling me about  rubbing a crying babies gums with alcohol to sooth it.
Thus it begins..
O.k. say well thats a bit extreme...  then think back to all the family functions where booze has been involved, not just family functions -  we have grown up surrounded by beer and alcohol and never gave it a second thought. My own son I remember seeing him, 2 years old  by his sand box chugging back a Corona that someone had left un-attended  at a family B.B.Q.
We use it to bring in every new year! Birthdays! Weddings, Thursday nights..   I remember waiting to turn legal drinking age so I could go to a bar and get hammered! WooooHooo.. and we think nothing of it.
Until you hear - educated people (presumably) saying "Cannabis is a gate way drug".
COME ON! Please do not continue to insult our intelligence.
Google Baby and beer - the images flood.  Sad.
"Oh, it won't do them any harm...  it's just a beer"   it is thinking that has us in denial
dealing with the MOST serious drug a problems.  Alcohol abuse, addiciton and death daily - all around the world.
My second 'gateway drug" I was 15  (I think) and stole a smoke from my grandma, DuMaurier - thank God I became very dizzy & sick and never smoked again.  I did go to the store and back then and purchase them just a little kid. Remember the ads everywhere?
I remember my Dr. smoking in his office while examining me.  Now years later to find out the lies about tobacco - IT KILLS. They MADE it addictive.
They knew what it was doing to you .    $$$
So enough! Quit making excuses and QUIT LYING to yourself and each other.
More importantly look at your kids- what are they seeing? When they come home drunk - who will you blame?
* The cartoon does say 'at a corner store near you' - THIS is still not a reality in Canada but one the media keeps mentioning- saying how great it will be for the economy! Small business will boom!  So will drunks.  I can  see it to come to pass - too soon.
It will be a sad day in Canadian History when this happens.

No Cannabis IS NOT the gateway drug.
What was your first drug?

Wake Up Sheeple!

When I was drawing this toon I was going to compare the USA and Canada and a few other places especially the weight issues; Obesity is such a killer and our poor kids have no hope with fast food places springing up like  - FAST food places! While researching W.H.O "Obesity has reached epidemic proportions globally, with at least 2.8 million people dying each year as a result of being overweight or obese. Once associated with high-income countries, obesity is now also prevalent in low- and middle-income countries."
I also believed that Canada would be second behind the USA with the obesity
 - Sorry Canada... my bad! We are actually 11th. 'Whew!'
The issue - who is the fattest- is NOT the issue.
These things are killing us and yes they are all legal.. and we just keep buying into it.
So WHY do we do it? It's the normal way of life. Where can you go and not be tempted by any of the 3 or have them in your face all the time. Storm and I have had several conversation about fast food lately. I've not been feeling great and cooking not my favorite past time as it is but - every time I eat fast food lately (with the exception of Burger priest or Swiss Chalet ) I'm talking McD's or KFC> I feel sick.  So why - EASE and like the millions of you I was raised with this.  IT IS LACK of Education.
TEACH your kids - if you do this now then chances are  they might just want to be the incredible beings they are meant to be!! BE honest!! SHOW them the facts. Teach by example. I read some kids only ever get French Fries as their vegetable.
All things in life should be sampled if you are fortunate enough - but "super-size that and add gravy!" has to stop.
I wrote 'in the USA' because those are the facts. Mexico a close second.. If Canada was the fattest it would say it in this cartoon.  Perhaps I should have said in the world but that is not true- too many people in the world have everything BUT Obesity to die from.

My wish for today is someone sees this cartoon and RE-thinks the next time they eat out,
pours another or buys another pack of smokes. EVEN that tiny thought can be a start.

Time to break away from the "sheeple"  and do what is right.  Look after each other.
How about spending a little less money on sending people to prison and spending on educating our children - properly - truthfully on HEALTH. KARMA and compassion.

Had to add this..
THIS IS GROSS.
On several levels. Pollution, death, lung cancer.
When walking my dogs the other day on the edge of the Walmart parking lot this is what you see the entire path.
THIS should be illegal.
This was just a tiny bit of the way.
IT IS like that the entire distance.
Disgusting.

I have come to the conclusion this is the only way, re-educate and get rid of the reefer madness lies. The facts are there like a puzzle and you start to see why Cannabis is REALLY illegal and it is sad, very sad.  It is all about $$ much like everything else. The difference is - people are suffering physically and mentally. Patience, farmers, Dr.s - everyone!  Hopefully you can break the ice with a cartoon - Hopefully one of mine! ;-)
Start a conversation. Share some facts and if you don't know encourage people to research.
Statistics alone should be ending this war on Cannabis - How can a government tell us they are keeping it illegal for our best interest when 100's, 1000's are affected daily - by a much more harmful - many times deadly, LEGAL substance like Alcohol  - or tobacco!?

It is not in our best interest - it is in theirs.
Time to look after ourselves, look after each other and stand up for what is right.
I posted this cartoon and saw that it was over 200 shares and I was crying.  I can't explain.
At least 200 people shared it and then hopefully from their friends more will share it - It will get people thinking and that has me FEELING FANTASTIC!   The day that I don't have to worry about my son being judged, discriminated, busted for his medicine - will be a very happy day in this moms life!
Today I am NOT drawing a Legalize cartoon - I am drawing a DECRIMINALIZE cartoon. Time to put his plant where it belongs  back in the garden!
Let the police do their jobs - arrest real criminals - you know the kind that HURT, steal, rape, murder...   not the ones growing plants.

Get your Butt out of bed!!

Do you know someone like this? If you answer no - then you live in a cave. We are not smokers - non of us in the house and we don't allow smokers. Why would we? It is our home/haven and to humor the occasional smoker  just does not make sense. We do have a back deck with some ashtrays ;-)  I am lucky my mom never smoked either- I think this is how I escaped the temptation of tobacco, but my grandma - she smoked as did other family members and countless friends. I remember as a kid going to the store for my 'Nanny' to buy her her cigs. I was little!  I'd ask and they hand them to me! No I.D. no questions asked.  Luckily some changes have been made since then - that and the price of cigarettes - I imagine most smokers are careful about making sure no kids are taking them for that reason alone. As  for recreational Cannabis -I do think it would be wonderful if there was -like alcohol, an age limit  for any drugs.. but would it change anyone? I think if a child is going to try and use drugs, the problem does not lie with the child but with the lack of education from a parent/media/life.  When I say Media - I don't mean with lies or scare tactics - This is your brain on drugs.. how about true life, education and facts. KIDS re smart!!!!!  Smart enough to make the right decisions.  Parental guidance is the most important. What are our kids watching us do- that will lecture them on leter?? LOL
As for alcohol.. especially the past couple of days - In the past I was one for 'The Hair of the dog'   usually the morning after around 11 is when I'd self medicate with a ceasar (not the dog whisperer;-) that is what it is when you have a hang over and drink- SELF MEDICATING.
I can tell you truthfully.. I know many, many  Cannabis users  that forget to medicate- unlike pills that you take every 4 hours - with Cannabis another true blessing is you use it and it helps your pain within minutes. I've yet to meet someone who has the shakes from not having a joint! It is more a disappointment than anything else.  On the other hand I have had my share of too many people (including myself) who were hung over and MISERABLE to those around them - until they drink again. Or smokers that just get nasty because they need a smoke. Do you smoke ? Can you start your day before you have a smoke?? I know someone who just admitted to me they don't even get out of bed until the 3rd cig,  or go to sleep - SMOKIN IN BED- ;-(( - until they have had another 2.  So you think there is a problem with Cannabis being additive? Think again.
