Keeping busy and creative!

I have discovered the secret to keeping my saintly. Keeping busy. LOL
So far so good.  I know all too well I can sit and twitch or I can sit and twitch and keep creative and focus on  keeping creative - rather than keep focused on the problem, one that appears to be staying with me.
I am feeling very  lucky, blessed and grateful that I am still able to paint, draw and just amuse myself ;)  lol  I have several projects on the go!  I can literally walk from room to room with something set up in a corner to paint, prime or doodle as I please! I have no excuse for boredom!
Several situations recently once again, have had me withdraw and rethink.

Boredom is  the root of evil. I know many marriages all pretty happy, until someone starts to feel bored.  Usually that boredom turns to looking for something else, and many times that something can end up being someone.  I find between the dogs, life , crafts - twitch I have little time to feel bored.  I spend a great part of my day feeling frustrated.  Take anything that you do and now add a twitch that literally shakes you head and sometimes hand (when at it's strongest) with every movement, and paint.  LOL

I'm tired of listening to others complain about life.. 'how bad they have it'- when all it seems to me, is they are bored. Too much time to sit and stew and think and let the negative ferment until it consumes.  Been there and done that. I do have a few friends that complain, most with very good reason - the ones IMO that have the most justifiable reasons- complain the less.

Get busy! I've decided to keep busy! Recently I played with a  few empty beer bottles I have! Buddha beer in particular! What fun!  I have had the bottles for a while being a fan of Buddha- the bottles are too easy to paint! The last screamed Rob Ford before I could even finish the flash paint! LOL  Norm picked up a diamond bit and I plan on turning a few into water pipes ;) !  Stay tooned, I will sell a couple but as usual, much of my work ends up being gifts!

In my attempts to make some extra$$ (is there such a thing?) I created Mini Zen kitties!! I love these little kitties, it brings me peace to paint them! A rainbow of colors and each one slightly different - that huge grin looking back at me while I paint!  I am making some for the Painted Perch festival - more on that the next couple of days!  I also have to get to work on my celebrity fish for the day!  The Stephfin Carper!!!
I have offered ZenKitties on line - once they are done they are gone. ;) You can get one here - if you order quick enough! http://www.georgiatoons.com/for-sale.html

It's simple. IF you are bored then do something about it! Serve someone other than yourself.  Look within. Create! Write a card/poem, bake a dish to give, cookies... plant a plant! Clean your home! Toss out clutter!  Knit, crochet... PAINT!
Or be bored.  The CHOICE is yours.

I was watching a documentary recently and they stated, at one point you could be considered a criminal and could face jail time for  distributing or promoting anything that showed a interracial couples in a positive light. Even standing together. WOW
I grew up in Toronto - The 'melting pot' of Canada  ;) If not the world. We have such a great mix of different cultures from all over the world!  I did not grow up thinking  we were different. Thank God ;)   Only in our 'personalities' perhaps!
To breast feed - was prohibited and could land a mother with a hungry baby in jail!?
I can't imagine what kind of police officer would follow through with such a task BUT, if you  check out some links shared on FB today - you soon learn there ARE  many officers that are compassionless & could care less about most humans - never mind the ones THEY perceive to be doing wrong.
Now - growing a plant. A simple task many millions of humans have done since the beginning of time.
To feed, nourish, medicate & celebrate!  A basic way of LIFE. FOR all to share.
I can't help but think time and time again - who the FU*K made these rules?
I know exactly who!  OLD, ignorant men.
Now all dead.
No longer living in this day and age! No clue of what's happening today.
Long gone .. but the rules remained for years until the first two, of this comic were realized in fact for their stupidity and CRUELTY.
I also  want to remind you that being 'Gay' was considered a crime and prohibited.
??? Who the F*ck made these rules.
MEAN, NASTY, OLD, DEAD men.

Not letting people grow anything - that helps feed or heal - is CRIMINAL.
Another nasty old rule who's time has come.
We are expected to grow as we age mentally , physically and spiritually if we are lucky...
grow and know...  No victim - no crime.

... can you hear me NOW?

I see it every day, I don't know if I am sensitive to it because I do not own a cellphone, or because - stuff like this drives me crazy! LOL
It's not just kids it's MOMS!  I don't mean teens either, I know several moms who are addicted to their phones and it is,  quite frankly  very sad to see.
I was out the other day and I saw a little girl and mom,  the girl had just caught a bug, the mom was oblivious - as I walked towards them I could hear and see her excitement but mom was glued to her phone.  The little girl looked up, was obviously use to being ignored and went along her way.  My husband who drives all over the city tells me he sees it all the time as well, often mom driving on the phone with a car full of kids.
It is proven a deadly distraction, especially driving - but  they just can't seem to ignore it.
I think it is even worse with many now getting FB messages on their phone.
I have a male friend who is telling me about his wife...  "it's glued to her hand" they have 3 kids and she is always on her phone.  He does not know what to do - he is tired of fighting about it.  They say to be happy live in the now. How can anyone be in the now when they are constantly distracted?

HOW do you think your children are doing?  What are you teaching them?
We have had generations - distracted, by television, alcohol and other drugs and now cell phones  that never leave their side.
ARE your children so unimportant - you hardly give them your undivided attention anymore? It's a fact. I am sure I will hit a nerve with a few people. So be it. It is what it is and it is a growing problem.

I know many of these same people later will say -
"I don't understand them, they ignore me, they don't want to talk to me.. "

No, I guess not. They have lived and LEARNED.
You have led by example.
You get what you give.

HAIL  before you speak!

I try to live my life stress free - LOL! Don't we all.
I understand there is stress we can't avoid it, death, illness and many unexpected events... but there is stress we can avoid. It's the petty stuff. The small stuff.
I constantly try to be a better person - it's not an easy task, I am human and I lose my temper and drive - more often than I wish to admit ;)  That being said, I have learned  "the truth' does set you free.  ;) !!
I made some changes.
~I don't assume - if it is bothering me - as in 'on my mind' - I ask.
~I tell the truth. If you don't want to know don't ask... I am realizing, most people have a pretty good idea before they ask -  do you agree?
I try to be nice.... lol - If I can't, I try not to say anything at all,  unless of course it means something important to me! What are you waiting for speak up!
TRY to speak with some thought.. I recently watched a tedtalk  (I think)  and the gentleman speaking said  remember this when speaking: HAIL
I agree!
It is what I try to do and will continue to do as long as I'm here.
It's how we learn.
I certainly have held nothing back on this blog to date.
I made a promise to myself and God as long as I'm here to speak my mind.  I just so happen to do it with a blog.
Others do it other ways. It is not how we do it but what we say.
FOR one day try not to say anything negative about anyone!
Not even Rob Ford or Steven Harper!  LOL  Can you do it?
it is a habit like anything else. It needs work to make it a pattern.
Either way... HAIL is something I think we can all learn.
I work daily on eliminating gossip, it's easy to 'get caught up'.. but I think I'd rather get caught up in some art.  Tune it out to TOON in.

HAIL!

My son just returned from a 9 day fishing trip, in time for me to make breakfast for him and his company and leave to go fishing!  LOL
While he was waiting the other day to go, he was watching our neighbor ride her lawnmower and said he wished he was trolling. ;)   It's that easy some days.
I miss him and find I like to draw fishing cartoons - it keeps me close ;)
Mentally if not physically!

He is away again - I hope it's not the downpour that we have been experiencing all day here in Keswick! My pond is over flowing! ;) I am sure it won't matter. He is also with a friend who came from Germany just to fish!   Talk about 'die hards'!
They are musky hunting  as I type. ;)

Do what you love and not even the rain will stop you!

Laundry Soap Supreme!!!

I love to visit this HOME - I call it: one of my favorite places on the planet and it is only a 15 minute drive...  Loretto Maryholme.
Also on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/www.lorettomaryholme.ca   < say hello :) I have been blessed to be a guest several times! I am even more blessed to have ‘the women’ of  Maryholme as my friends. ❤
Sr. Jane, Jane,  Mary, Cathy - the part time cook (and full time friend- lol)  and Slava!
Just to name a few of the ladies.

I especially LIKE Slava! IMO she is a a woman that 'rocks'. LOL  I don’t know her very well, but the few times I h
ave met and had time to talk I find her very interesting and FULL of handy hints!!! Also full of energy and :) . Slava is responsible for keeping MaryHolme looking and smelling  (lol) all that it is -
Clean and fresh and Welcoming!!!
It is a lot of work! Maryholme is all about details if you ask me, and one of them is how clean it is.

A while back Slava told me about boiling cedar - to use as a household cleaner and gave me some. Simple, boiled cedar..  I use it as a furniture cleaner!  Norm makes our furniture so it is all real wood, it is all I have been using for years now and my stuff - I admit, looks great. Simple. I cant remember the last time I bought furniture polish! Bonus right there.

Well she gave me a 'jug' a few weeks back of her home made, Money saving$$$, laundry detergent. I tried it and again - LOVED it!  It is even better than the first cleaner and trust me, I've been putting it to the test!  Then I poured 1/2 in a spray bottle and watered it down and use it for EVERYTHING!

For example: I have a white board in the kitchen - Norm’s ‘Honey do’ list! LOL
Trust me - it gets dirty!! Nothing cleans it - Slava’s soap does!
I use it for everything from spraying directly on grease stains - OR should I say 'Storm does'.  hee hee hee.  On counters, furniture, table tops, furniture & laundry!
I am NOT putting any unnecessary HARSH chemicals in our bodies or home if I can help it.
When we know better - we do better & every little bit helps ;)

TRY it if you don’t  believe me! I had to know how it is made and Slava gave me a lesson! ❤ Now I’m sharing it with you.

You can find all these money saving recipes on PIN - It really does save big bucks! Why not? A bit of work wil go a long way. I am going to explain in the photos below as Slava did to me and the basic recipe she used is also provided below.
***The trick that makes Slavas, just ‘that much’ better- instead of just using ‘regular water’  She used *water that had been boiled with the cedar!!!
That is it.  So have a look below! It is all I have been & all I will continue to use.
I’d like to save my money $ & have my home clean, fresh and closer to nature in all ways.

Thank you Slava!
LOL - I invited myself to lunch I bet she is an amazing cook!
Time will tell.

If you want a beautiful place to refresh, relax and just feel GOOD, peaceful, loving vibes - and GOOD homemade cooking! Comfort food!
I highly recommend staying at Loretto Maryholme.
Every time I am there I feel LOVE.

They have a women’s retreat in AUGUST!
I am giving it serious thought! Anyone care to join me???

Labels...

It occurred to me, how so many are still very ‘concerned’ about labels and not the ones they should be.  I recently had someone talk to me - he was ‘asking for a friend... ‘, really - and the friend has a child who is experiencing grand mal seizures. Well, apparently he is thinking about cannabis but “is worried about the kid getting stoned.”
Really?

I do not understand how a parent of a child  can watch them have a grand mal seizure  but are afraid to see them ‘high’? What ever that may be in their mind.
Then there is the medicine. How is that o.k. to start to watch your child become a pharmaceutical junky?  BEFORE you would look into cannabis? A plant. Never been recorded for causing a death, certainly not by anyone using for pain, nausea, epilepsy, cancer... It’s endless.

Don’t believe me? Google it.
Wait! God forbid someone find out your googling ‘cannabis’!  That would make you a ‘stoner’!? LABELS.  We are less consumed with what actually goes into out bodies, and can cause us damage from the inside out.  The labels - ‘name calling’ bulling - for lack of a better word, can cause many problems as well. STRESS.

The sooner we learn we are not responsible for how anyone else thinks about us the better off we will be. I know people I have met and like and later find out - they don’t like me. Go figure LOL  In the past I just might ponder that. Now, I have better things to ponder. :) Love, Peace and Happiness.
I’m not saying a child cannot benefit from  western medication. Although, I am not longer convinced this is the golden rule.   As parents WE are ‘the gatekeepers’ and the first thing we can do - as ‘hoaky’ as it is is give our kids the key to success - EDUCATION! I’m NOT saying university- I believe it is NOT for everyone. Just encourage learning and passion and teach them about consequences..
I am not preaching, I am praying out loud.
There are so many already messed up people that were probably messed up as kids - but they don’t all grow up nasty and mean.
You can be introduced to love at any age! <3

For those of you still tempted to take this drug or other cox-2 inhibitors and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDS) pain-killers:  be careful, they can kill more than pain. READ the LABELS !! Know what does not kill? Good for pain?  Cannabis.

I swear! As a cartoonist, I have the perfect life.
With my family, not a moment goes by where there is not something going on, well -only when we nap or sleep. I love every moment - even the crazy ones. We just took the girls for a walk - all of them - that is another blog.
Norm finished the brick  path! It turned out great, just one of those things..  he never stops but since we practically LIVE in our backyard, we spend more time and energy there.   When he was working on it,  I sat out and decided to catch up on some drawing  ( I draw everywhere- Norm made me several drawing boards ;))  Yes, kinda spoiled that way) the 'girls' started to play in the sand!
It was so cute everyone of them! Daisy digging and lying, Scruffy digging for buried treasure and Poppy rolling down! Tequila sniffed all over!
They crack me up. Norm said "Imagine if we had kids!!"  - he could not see them.
Storm and I both laughing, well they had so much fun- next thing I joined it!
LOL - I'm sad the sand is gone.  Perhaps I need some sort of sand box in the back yard!
NOT - Been there done that - giant kitty litter.
Draw what you know. I know this and I know dog lovers will appreciate it. :)
I love it as my digital journal entry.
My mind needs a break - more on that and a cannabis blog /toon,  mañana. <3

It's fishing season! I know!
I live with a fisherman  and love it! Two now!
Since Storm and his dad  had great success on fathers day. I have heard tales of bears, snakes and the big one and more. I'm thrilled.
What better to be a canadian and enjoy our great outdoors!!! BUT fishermen Beware! Take care!
Sun protection!! ~ Skin cancer. It is a job hazzard ;)
No drinking and driving... car, boat or canoe!
Why take chances?

I know most are aware of the dangers... a small price to pay for the peace - I am told.
I am yet to catch a Musky!
Soon! I know my son will help me catch my first Musky. I can't wait!
<3   For now I'll stick to admiring the  fish in the pond and the pups in the pool.  Enjoy your summer!
