I’m taking a social media break - to paint & ponder on the year to come.  Being the troglodyte that I am, I’ve decided to explore more this year, get some new music, focus less on negative news & more on positive & LOVE - not just for me, everyone needs more love.  Don’t you? 

Since I’m taking a break to paint - those who read my blog have a ‘heads up on my gratitude decision for 2017. Everyday,  I paint a ‘warm up and then work on a bigger piece- sometimes completing it, other times it takes a few days needless to say- I’ve quite to collection of little originals!  What will I do with them all?
GIVE some away.  Share.  Make  someone smile!  Furnish a fan with fabulous fridge art!

Who gets the first - Victoria J, a fan who mailed me a Christmas card, she lives in Monticello, Arkansas and has been sending cards for a couple of years, her timing perfect & she does not even know it! Unless she reads this blog. lol  
Her little original is ready to go out with Fridays mail.

I’ve wrapped and labeled my art ready to be shared with a select few. How do you get one??!
I don’t know..  we’ll figure that out as 2017 goes along. 

I’m going to explore more in 2017.
What are you focusing Love, Passion, Career, Health, Success, Money?  Have an idea of where you want to start.

I think I’ll give out an original to the first person who sends me a postcard for my blank bulletin bored… Hint Hint.

Snow Storm today here in Ontario- good day to paint. 
Tragic all the talent the world lost in 2016. 

Every Christmas I give away a framed original.
This year is no exception- except  -lol- instead of having a draw I decided to give it to someone in particular, to express my gratitude & appreciation.   Someone who really has made my/our life better, to whom I truly am grateful and wish to show my thanks & love with my heart & art.

I also thought of a funny, 'private card' -only in the sence that I don't need to share it with all of you, my 'Hallmarks' are truly originals- with only one being sent & only few viewing. They are often thought of with very secific people in mind, they are personal and intimate,  funny,  sexual & even sad.  I share them with those I trust most.  I will say this one made me blush slightly and giggle most of the time I was painting it, my admiration of this man and his looks too - are no secret- althougth he is not 'my type',  my age & taste matured, I like 'salt & pepper' - or white hair- which I'm sure he will have soon enough, no doubts!!! 

A framed original - also of my choosing- cannabis related of course, 3 comics (signed), magazines & a copy of  Hempathy by Ivan Art to educate the children!! & the hand painted card...  ​

FREE!! How Christmas Cool is that!? I was going to have it rushed! I still will.   
To give is to receive. I got back my $$ before it was even spent!

That was my most current POST on Facebook.
 I am done! No more- what I had for breakfast-  instead -make every moment count- why should this not apply to Facebook, where we have potentially hundreds, thousands  & even more of an OUTREACH & Opportunity to be a positive light of change - instead of a negative one.

I'm thinking about 2016. 
I thought today:
I'll have a bit of fun on Instagram and 'give away'  an 'original card' a month. 
To anyone, anywhere in the world.  No strings. No postage. 
I don't quite know how... I think, I have to get people to add a #hashtag, so I will know who is interested in the card. The first did go to the interested person of one!   ;)
​I got a real charge to hear it ended up on a 'moms fridge'!  
That made me smile.  It also makes it all worth while.

What makes me happy?
Giving someone an original, hand drawn, painted card.
Painted with  time, love and tenderness  & thc.
I know how snail mail makes me feel!  ;D
It can be the same with a  postcard or a package - it  it the thought that counts.

My first cardinal!  We have cardinals at the bird feeding station! The other night I watched them as the sun was setting, one kept picking up seeds and feeding the other, like it was a baby - but it was not. It was sweet - tweet tweet!  I must say that new feeder norm made- I posted yesterday is a bluejay magnet! I am beyond excited for the light of today to get out there and sit and watch for a while. I find it so peaceful and interesting this backyard entertainment was the best investment we have made in a while. Storm is fond of the woodpecker that also visits regular. I don't know enough about birds to know which ones will be staying! The bluejay I've seen in many winter photos - yippie!  

Time to stock up on nuts. I walk to Walmart (with Poppy) for the reason alone- nuts for the birds. lol More on that soon...

I am painting a small saw blade- the one you see below and I am going to give it away!! FREE * OPEN to anyone anywhere in the world that may be reading this blog.

Art in the garden!  Every year my friends and I go to craft sales and events. I asked them to join me this mothers day for an 'art show' our own little display.  LOL - Who needs an excuse to hang out with friends and look at art!  
I don't get around like I use to  so why not! 
Everyone seemed keen - even Norm! I'm sure you'll be able to view a coffin in our garden. 
I'll try to make them cheery! lol
Its not about purchasing really - I sit here and panic for a second thinking what have I got to sell -  I will have some mini paintings, a few garden signs, I might part with a Laughing Buddha or two, who knows! - I want to have a great weekend in the garden! What better way to start then with a couple of good friends!  If you are around I hope you will consider joining us for peek! Of course we have an area for kids to color and an assistant to help! 

Ellen is big on butterflies and plans on educating us all a little.. Linda knows the newest knots in beadwork - I look at it and am amazed at her detail and I am encouraging all our local Bees to come out and join us this beautiful day!!  Come say hello! if you can! 
OH- I'm also making - with he help of my handy dandy hubby - a new 'Best Blooms'  Photos Op. display - JUST for Mothers day! Bring your cameras! It's one of the 'poke your head' through the hole thing! ;)  
Pets too are welcome as long as they stay on the leash and away from the Pool! Scruffy will be upset! * it will be blocked off ;) 
We have poop bags and they are free to those that need, Also a drinking area for dogs. ;)

Oh, Canada!!
Canada has changed a lot in the past 10 years, but never so shockingly as it did in December, 2012. That month Canada went from 2.5 million protected lakes and rivers to 159 protected lakes and rivers. 

You need to ask, why?  This is a quote from the Huff Post, it’s a pretty good assessment.

"It means the removal of almost every lake and river we know from the Navigable Waters Protection Act. From one day to the next we went from 2.5 million protected lakes and rivers in Canada to 159 lakes and rivers protected. You name the river, you name the lake and it is no longer protected by this act, and this has nothing to do with the budget that the government rammed through, it has everything to do with pipelines, because you are able to now are able to ruin navigation and not trigger an environmental assessment."

One little tidbit they didn’t mention is the most of the protected lakes and river are in Conservative ridings. Places that have millionaires cottages perched on the shores. The rest of us can just suck it up.

I’m angry; my children will likely lose the opportunity to swim in clear clean water (unless they marry money) and the risk to the environment, just when the rest of the world is starting to clean their countries up, will have reached epic proportion in Canada. My grand children will be at risk, their health, safety, lifestyle and living environment will be negatively impacted to benefit a handful of international mining companies and their rich shareholders (who live with THEIR children beside the protected lakes.)

This just boggles my mind.. since when is one group of people more important than another? Since when has Canada been willing to sellout its citizens? There is no net benefit, no silver lining, no payoff , unless of course you’ve invested in mining companies.

We need to ask our Conservative government a few questions. First- who are you working for? Second- Why are you so willing to risk your children’s future when you have a choice not to? Third, do you know what your grandchildren will think and say about you?

We need to get angry, folks, we need to start showing an interest in what our governments, at all levels, do in our names.

CETA, the European free trade deal is set to be ratified in September. Once that’s through we can expect even more attacks on what laws we have in place provincially to protect our wild and not so wild areas. This trade deals allow corporations to sue countries who have environmental laws that might hurt their “future” profits.. nice for them, eh? We’re rapidly losing control of our laws to greedy corporations and this Conservative government is smoothing the way.

Go find a nice lake or river bank this weekend, swim.. wash your hair, take a tire tube and show the kids how to paddle around the shore looking for minnows and turtles. You better take pictures though, as this is likely the last generation who will be able to enjoy it.

Is Florida next? Not too long ago I ws reading about them banning bongs. How crazy is that. I know people who make bongs out of apples, I bet Florida oranges too ;)I LOVE FLORIDA, as a matter of fact I was considering a visit, but with them being so behind with medical Cannabis I decided not. I went several times growing up. Yes, I did the ‘Daytona thing’ in my day... not quite like it is being depicted in todays movies! Yikes! 

I am also aware of the number of ‘snow birds’, seniors and hope they will be some of the first to be educated on Cannabis. Our elderly take far too many prescription drugs, many killing them because of mixing and over dose.  Cannabis is a safer alternative! 

I’m tired of saying it and luckily with other admitting the knowledge - well AMEN! 
It is only a matter of time. Will Florida be NEXT YEP! I believe so!

I woke up today determined to do something postive. Then I thought while painting my eggs... I wonder if I can inspire creativity!? I hope so, so here goes:
                  Paint an EGG! 
No cheating! YOU must paint your own egg.
I don't care if you are an artist or not, just get creative!
Paint a pattern or scene, face - have fun!
I was going to specify Nature - but thought NO, why limit the imagination? Paint on your egg what ever you want.  Decorate and egg with paint, pencil, markers, crayons,  
I will ask that a photo is taken of the winner with their egg!  For entering the contest you will have a chance to win one of my painted eggs, cannabis friendly or not,  I will have several! I enjoyed sitting and having fun with such an interesting and challenging canvas! 
Such a lesson in patience. Although, I am sure there are tricks to holding the eggs while painting, I have not quite figured out yet. Perhaps on a stick. Hmmmmmmmm...

Looks like Scruffy did not win the Fido contest- but we sure had fun! We allowed ourself to dream of a mini vacation. Had fun drawing and thinking of toons. Had she won, the toon was terrific! You'll just have to wait till next year to see that! We will try again!  Scruffy is our sweet little girl - LOL - who is even cuter since she lost a tooth (?no idea how) last week! Fido would have been - fun. We have fun every day! 
It was wonderful to see all the shares and those votes so I wanted to make it official to thank everyone once again! She may not have won FIDO but she won the hearts of many - especially ours!

Last days till contest closes. Scruffy for Fido!   Someone pointed out to me they believe this Scruffy thing is just a distraction to myself! LOL- I have an important meeting coming up next week and will be making a very important decision! Surgery - so I said well if Scruffy wins and it is the same date - Surgery will have to wait!  -KIDDING! It was not received with the smile I thought I would get.

It's May! No more April showers- well tell that to mother nature today! With May comes the knowledge of summer weather ahead! New buds and blooms and birds!! Yeah May! It ALSO means for us that the EXPO - is 24 days away! I say Us because it is a team - My husband is my sherpa ;-))) as is Storm, I could not do it without them.  I also have a few friends helping me in my booth this year! I realize the Medical marijuana Expo is a one shot weekend to try to educate as many people as I can! I talk with parents and others who are not sure about Cannabis and want to find out more. I WISH - I had known about such an EXPO when we started- Oh well, when you learn things the hard way you have a tendency to not forget much ;-D  Treating Yourself magazine has provided me with issues of the magazine featuring Storm's story and I plan of passing them out!  I will have originals for sale - framed and unframed, bags, baby outfits (only a few), jewelry, painting and MORE!! * Today I am posting this NEW -It is a RE-draw- but HEY ! It's my own re draw so I can do that. I always loved this toon and sold the first  (not as detailed) cartoon, but have decided to keep this one.  It is SO true -
 Then and Now - Those who Believe ! Yet we still sit in this legal mess where people cannot medicate themselves with a plant and are forced to have chemicals stuffed down their throats whether they like it or NOT - IT is WRONG.  So twitch or not - I will be there! I will be talking to who ever wants to know because I know how this medicine has changed & saved our lives!  We are LIVING PROOF!  All I ask is that you share!
