Tequila Chilli'n on the sofa. She really does sit like this - just hoping someone will reach up and scratch that tummy. Daisy has her favorite spot in the back yard where she lies and throws her raccoon up into the air and Scruffy does the full body stretch, tail wiggle - 'you know you want to pat me strut!'
Then of course there is Darkie - our kitty who is clearly the ZEN Master of the house.
All cats are - or can be.
Animals remind us to live in the moment. They don't care how funny they look! If you laugh at them - they wag their tail! They don't take it personal they MAKE it personal!  I LOVE my girls they keep me in the moment and I thank God for them.  They also inspire a few toons.....   If you have a pet - give them a good scratch, cuddle and pat today! Let them know you deserve all the love they give you. ;-)  xox<><

Last days till contest closes. Scruffy for Fido!   Someone pointed out to me they believe this Scruffy thing is just a distraction to myself! LOL- I have an important meeting coming up next week and will be making a very important decision! Surgery - so I said well if Scruffy wins and it is the same date - Surgery will have to wait!  -KIDDING! It was not received with the smile I thought I would get.
Perhaps it is a nice distraction - Distraction??
No way!
Me and Scruffy in a plane - on a train!? In a limo- in a hotel in Montreal! We shall visit a few outdoor cafe's along the way! Visit some friends... Pampered and a photo shoot!
Not to mention we feel she is the most lovable, sweetest dog ever! So with only 10 days left Im pulling out all the stops!
Let's do it! Let's GET scruffy to Montreal!!!  * When - we win (like to think positive), If I am unable to go - I think Norm will have to go in my place, after all Scruffy is really 'his' bitch and visa versa! ;-)) So PLEASE vote ! Only 10 days left! http://fidocastingcall.ca/dog/589820037
Long weekend here in Canada! BRING IT ON!!!!! P.S. next week - I will post a toon (Scruffy) to share and people to vote- I will draw from all who share for the original!

Scruffy is trying to win the FIDO  photoshoot!
Well,we both are!!
Someone told me about the casting call so I entered - thinking - "Oh, that would be cute."  I KNOW she is cute - and everyone that meet Scruffy usually can't help but express an 'Awwwwwwwwww'.  Not only that Scruffy is a well behaved little bitch!  As an after thought I checked out what she can actually win!

The Grand Prize winner will receive :
A 3-day VIP trip to Montreal including airfare and/or limousine/train transportation, a doggy spa treatment, a spa treatment for the owner, a limo ride around Montreal and most importantly, professional grooming and a photo shoot starring the winning pooch.
The prize also includes:
  • Food for the dog for the duration of the trip
  • $1,000 in spending money
  • A Fido LG Optimus L7, a Fido gift card worth $100 and a Fido branded USB key
  • A gold medal engraved with the winning dog’s name
  • A dog accessory in Fido colours
A total value of $10,845

How cool would that be!? Just the thought of hanging with Scruffy in Montreal! PUTS a smile on my face and hers too! We are both in need of some serious grooming! LOL I am NOT going to groom Scruffy - and she needs it right now - I will let Fido do their best! (fingers crossed) So, I am going to have fun with it! I am going to try to win! WHY else enter and with a little help from my friends I believe we have a fantastic chance!
Irony of this is I do NOT own a cell phone. NOT even sure how to use them! I guess I can learn! Please take a moment to vote! You can vote once a day!

CLICK on the link>>> http://fidocastingcall.ca/dog/589820037
REMEMBER you can VOTE one a day!
The end of the contest is Sept 10th! So get them in now!!    THANK you!
3 days in Montreal! With my favorite bitch! (Don't tell Daisy or Tequila!) It would be so fantastic! A mini holiday and I have friends in Montreal! That I NEVER get to see!
I am imagining our hotel and room service!  Champaigne and milkbones!
I have promised Scruffy - When she wins(positive thinking for us) I will buy her a new 'Snuggle bunny' and I will draw the entire trip from start to finish to share with my friends!
VOTE SCRUFFY!!!    xox <><

Even dogs have stuff.  Scruffy had her bunny since we got her , approx. 5 years. She loved her bunny , I have drawn toons about the bunny love - it was on several levels - ones I admired. She would show her bunny  animal foreplay, thrashing her from side to side and throwing her around the room then pretending to chase and catch! She would lay and nuzzle her cheek to the point where the "cheek" was forever  crusty. 'Humping' was another  bunny past time usually followed with more snuggles.
Well not to long ago Daisy destroyed bunny - I was not here to stop the bunny slaying. Scruffy has moped ever since. Making matters worse is Daisy has a raccoon she is crazy about and plays with it all the time. The look on Scruffy face when watching Daisy is priceless and - the toon was born. Stuff, even our dogs have stuff.  Favorite toys, balls - did I created this or is it natural? Would they not be as easily amused with a stick?
I'm not so sure.
All I can say is we are looking for a bunny to replace the bunny Scruff is missing.  It will have to be from a 2nd hand store as Im not paying for a new bunny!  I do believe dogs like toys but I don't believe they know if it cost 20 or 80. that is for me to decide. What I know for sure is everything is more fun when I play with them and more than any toy my girls just want to be loved.

Snoop Dog <NOW> Snoop Lion!  How cool! As we grow we change. My own cartoon strip changes all the time and I have decided always will. LIFE changes. I remember reading about Lynn Johnston (cartoonist, personal hero'ess' of mine, woman,  AMAZING GIFTED CARTOONIST and a Canadian)  let the dog Farley die in the strip  much to many disappointed fans. But as a cartoonist  -you draw what you love  I love my family, pets, friends, Cannabis, God, good, Buddha..  When my dog Hunny died I had a hard time drawing her after - still do and then just thought o.k. time to move on - move over, Move UP!  Be better. Why should artists be any different we have to do what we feel makes us better.  Every day we should all work at being better. Making this a better place.
Snoop has some people not so happy about his decision but any true fan knows Snoop is still Snoop!  I must say myself I know him lately more for him being the man he is than the artist.  I like how he was in the kitchen with Martha - Hee Hee Hee, I  bet they had fun.
Snoop speaks his mind/stands up for his friends Willie & Cannabis and now is going to where he believes he needs to be. Snoop Lion!  I read  he feels he is Bob Marley re incarnated. There can never be another Bob BUT the thought of the TWO combined - Excites my ears!
Today if you can hear. Be thankful!

Mindful or Mind FULL?

I saw this cute stick figure drawing on line and was inspired to re-draw. I like the message.
My mind is full these days. Looking forward to meeting with the surgeon (although -no lies- a little nervous), and of course there is always other stuff.  LIFE. Up and DOWN
Last week Storms hearing aid broke - but when he told me, for once it did not stress us out as he had purchased  an extra years warranty at his last visit for  almost $400.oo!  So we thought- I was called this week (so much for client patient privledge also- Storm being the client who paid for everything himself - yet I was called) was informed - "oh, that was just for one hearing aid" ... clearly WE miss understood.
And when I called to question I was verbally yelled at, was told  (meaning Storm) "perhaps he should learn to read".  Adding insult to injury.
Storm finally called him as he still had not bothered to call Storm - only to be just as offended by this "professional".  He also denied (lied) to Storm and said he did not yell at me or say anything. I was literally shaking after our phone conversation - which was in fact BULLYING on an adult level.
I had to let it go I don't need the stress. BUT I can't not let it go . This man is in my community and most of his clients are older disabled clients.  IS this how he will treat them - when something is not explained clearly? Will he yell at them when they ask for an explanation?  I have many elderly friends in this community - many who I met through church and care for very much- the thought of one of them experiencing this - is concerning.   If one other person is spared this treatment - GOOD!  YES, I realize it is his word against mine. We have no reason to lie. It is the last thing we need to worry about.
I was so upset I was going to post it on FB - but I have too many people - disabled that would be disgusted.
That's it - we wrote it off.
At least the seed has been planted - people made aware- they might not believe me - I don't care, HE will NOW have to PROVE otherwise - and EXPLAIN properly to patients,  provide CLEAR, professional paperwork and  God wiling - be a better person.
Unfortunately Storm is out almost $400. and still has no hearing in the one ear. ;-(

Today I have spent time with the dogs, Daisy especially with a ball being forced into my ribs as I TRY to draw-  is teaching me to be mindful. The toon is with Tequila - as she is getting old she just likes to sit beside me and look. I look at her and I see Peace. I pat her and I feel peace.  I wish everyone could have a dog.
I also better understand the phrase the more I know people (like this hearing aid guy) the more I like my dogs.

Now back to work on Snoop lion.

I am spending some time - organizing, sorting and have found so many cartoons - not yet inked! Yippie - it's like a holiday for me - I don't have to THINK of new material just ink, color and I'm done. It always amuses me when the guys see a toon they have not seen before- Storm just saw this one for the first time and loved it.  Poor Scruffy.  I also found some really nice 'not cartoons' - but more art.
How often do we get caught up -  and forget to have fun.  I do! When I start to feel overwhelmed I draw other stuff, life, dogs and Laughing Buddha. Variety. Then I feel better and stronger about drawing with a purpose.
I also found many drawings that I will part with - Gifts. Which is exciting - I will have some draws and contests  or just send some out. Occasionally I get e mail from  fellow cartoonists - newly starting and I think it is wonderful if I can share and encourage.
We should share our talent.
Oh exciting news! I was contacted from someone is Germany and they will be making one of my toons into a banner for the big parade in August!  > Big Hanf Parade in Berlin on the 11th of August <  HOW cool is that!! My work getting the message across in Germany.  I AM proud of that.  If you'rethere send me photos! ;-)
*IF anyone wants an image to use for a banner or print to hand out educate they can contact me and I will send them a better quality image  to use for such events. ;-)  Back to work! All new stuff coming up the next few weeks.
* Note - thank you to my good pal Marie (a.k.a IBelieve ) on FB  who posts  my work for me when I try to do other stuff... gives me time to draw, heal & rest ;-) yet still share! I get by with a little help from my friends ;-)
Have fun - take a break from the cause and just HAVE fun.

Dog Days of Summer are upon us!    `AMEN!

Summer is here and around this house it really means the Dog Days of Summer are upon us! I love it. I am NOT a winter person - but I love Canada so I endure;-)  Summer = OUTSIDE!  I have 3 dogs and they love to be outside! The pool - appears to be Daisy's own playground right now - she is the first one in it and Scruffy in her boat -long before those too is Tequila. My GROWLING, crusty, bad breath, over weight, almost blind, poops in the house when she KNOWS that it is a firecracker weekend! My LOVE Tequila.  As I was drawing this toon in the gazebo she came and fell asleep beside me - as she is now, so I took the opportunity to draw her still life, thinking about what a great dog she is the entire time. Tequila is 15. She was run over by a car when younger and survived without a scratch! It was a miracle. She surfs in the pool and has used it since the day we opened it - we laugh as she will lose a good 5 lbs every summer, LOVES Halloween as much as Norm and jumps at bats! Is my master squirrel chaser and BALL fetcher - but does not give it to you, she makes you chase her around the house for it. Well she was.. Daisy seems to be faster on the fetch and rubs it in Tequilas face every time. So I've learned to throw 2 balls the first far for Daisy and the second close to Ticky. Her eyesight is failing so her ball days are almost over, she also seems to be feeling the heat a bit more.. I will love her till the day she dies and will keep going until she tells us she can't go anymore.
Right now she still tries and that is all that matters. The lessons dogs teach us. Priceless.

Never a dull moment with dogs...

Daisy- our sweet girl who is not yet one is non-stop fun! Storm really has trained Daisy marvelously - with the exception of her barking at the neighbors dog through the fence - or anyone else that gets too close to "our" fence (in her mind).  Even then once we call her she stops. She comes when called and drops what ever she has in her mouth , normally a ball but sometimes - a bird, mouse, a plant that she has pulled - roots and all - but of course I told her to drop the other day and she behaved so well.
Cat pooh.
Yes, I can distinguish my pet pooh from many years of scooping and stooping.  Then she waited like 'wow isn't that neat mom!?'  So of course LATER - it did cause me to giggle and Storm squirt milk out of his nose when I told him about how well she behaved.
I LOVE my dogs. Not a day goes by where they do not make me laugh. Sometimes cringe..
Always feel loved.

Gone Fishing!

Time for fishing and if you check out my page last year you see that we fished from the dock. Well Storm has purchased himself a bass boat!  We took it out on the lake last sunday Norm, Storm and I and have to say we laughed the entire time!  I enjoy fishing with Storm anyway but it takes it to a new level! Sitting on the water (the boat is big- if need be I could lie down comfortably)  is so peaceful - not to mention the quality time and amazing conversations.
It only has two seats - it IS a fishing boat. and the rest just room to stand, Storm and his dad have already made several improvements! Norm is as excited as Storm!
I have been informed that the boat is like a man cave on the water, and there are rules.  When asked how I pee without falling over the side-  I was informed "through your dick"  Smart Ass... but did make me giggle.  I guess I will deal with that  hurdle when I get there.
I already have my back pack packed! Sketchbook of course! Pencil case, ipod, book - currently reading ( and loving)  Life of Pi, and wondering what to pack in the picnic lunch! I forgot my camera the first day out - was too excited! I won't forget next time.  It is also nice that Storm is able to medicate  - so it really turns into a great way to just DE STRESS and relax.  So I am looking forward to an entire new set of toons!!! All around fishing! Yesterday we had to visit Bass pro of course! Storm bought me my own BRIGHT yellow ( I liked pink but - that is a boat cave rule - no pink) fishing pole!  Today I go out to dig up worms.  I don't really care if I catch anything. I just love hanging out with my son and surrounded by all the beauty.  So you will soon see 'Gone fishing'  I hope many times on our door. Below - the girls and I do some inspecting!   xox <><

Om boy Home Boy...

I spent the morning in the garden - my mom bought me this great little guy! I call him OmBoy HomeBoy!
He has the slightest little smile and I have moved him all over the back yard - finally resting in my gazebo where I meditate/pray the most in the summer. He looks like he was meant to be  in my garden.  Just the sight of him makes me feel more at peace.
What a beautiful day!  I don't have a car and it was so nice I decided to take the dogs for a walk! As always it turned out to be somewhat of an adventure- surrounded by beauty (that almost didn't happen).
Scruffy! Little power house that she is was so excited she tugged me as I was putting on her leash and my glasses fell and I stepped on them! ARRRRGGGGGGH! Oh well, I was already on my way and was not going to let that stop me! So off we went!  Wild flowers everywhere! Daisy's!! Tomorrow I am going back to pick myself a bouquet of Daisy's! The girls loved it of course and we know Daisy LOVES water from the pool but I had no idea!
ONLY in Keswick you say! - Behind the Walmart plaza is a pond with a boat launch! LOL!! DAISY found a little slice of heaven! The second she spotted it she was in! Chasing dragon flies, butterflies - all in the water!  I LOVE dogs. They remind us to LIVE in the moment!  I sat for a while - even though I could not see much in the distance! It was wonderful. I think tomorrow I'll pack a little picnic;-)
My girls below and my little Om Boy..   Today! LIVE in the moment!    xox <><

Wow - when it rains it pours! GREAT stuff!!  Today my baby gets his first vehicle that he is purchasing on his own!  WOW - He drove my car to the end - the past year we had to have it towed a few times and Storm is also looking for a little more comfort and we safety ;-) I am SO proud of him ( both of us are) He works very hard and saves his money and today he will drive home his new wheels and drive his mom to the EXPO in comfort and style! LOL I can't wait till he brings it home. * note car for sale- great clunker  for getting around, also great starter car for new kid driver. DOES not go very fast hee hee hee.
In just 3 more days I'll be setting up for the EXPO! I'm as ready as I will ever be! My sherpa (below) in the garage making boxes for the originals, LB is painted and ready to take photos! The Happy Hippie is ready to GO!  I AM SO EXCITED and I'm feeling GREAT!
My botox seems to be at it's prime and I have to thank the Dr.  he is mastering where the injections go and I am NOT in as much pain! :-) YEAH! Any that I am, is quickly  helped with Cannabis!!   I am SO READY!
We did open the pool on the weekend and Daisy LOVES it! All Storm had to do was whistle and she was in - right over to him and would stay in the pool as long as he did.  Some photos below I have to go and do some last minute painting!!! <>< XOX

I will say that I will be happy when the EXPO is over so I might resume cartooning - the ideas are backlogged in my brain - Not much room in there these days ;-)

We decided to go for that nature walk this afternoon and it was a beautiful day to go!  We drove a way with the dogs - they were all excited - ROAD TRIP!! Much to my delight - It's Trillium time!! They were every where and not yet in bloom only buds waiting to POP!
They do not last long, they are Ontario's official flower ;-) 3 leaves - it is illegal to pick them. As tempted as I was - I did not.  We walked and walked - my son had his medicine and
we just kept going. The weather and sunshine  could not have been better.  Well - needless to say I am now pooped - all my girls are! Daisy had her first off leash experience and was amazing- never running more than a few feet in front of Storm the entire time. That dog loves her boy.  I kept thinking this is as simple as it should be .. walking through nature- so many different plants. It's a plant. Give it back to nature and let the insanity end.  We were looking for mushrooms - but I have no clue on how to find them - I see them posted all over FB but  -no such luck. I did see several flowers, a butterfly or two and just had a wonderful relaxing walk with those I love most.

Daisy and her kit!
The kit is available! I am very excited. I have my kit and love it if I do say so myself!
I am so sold on this kit- it all came at the right time - We just got Daisy and she was just a pup! I watch shows now and just from drawing for the kit - I can (like magic) guess how the dog is going to react! Wow, I wish I had known all this sooner.  Daisy is the main character!

If you know anyone who is getting a pet or has a new pup this is the ultimate gift! You just might be saving the family much heart ache, chewed furniture and puppy frustration!
I LOVE the kit because it comes with this terrific chart - I showed Storm and he loved the idea- you can write what you have done and no excuse for slacking or if you forget!  Puppies are NOT PROPS,  they are family members for many years! We have had dogs live to be 15!  If you train them right from the start you have such wonderful pets and they do not like to be yelled at.  I know just a look can have Daisy drop her head and drag her tail - not because we have ever hit her but because we have taken the time to let her know what is and is not acceptable behavior in our home - we also had to work a little extra as she grew- she decided Scruffy is her favorite toy!  So a little discipline and all are getting along like one big happy  family!
I am also pleased to say I have made a new friend with the creator of the Kit - Rachelle - how could I not - her love for the canine is obvious - she really want's to make a difference- she wants to help STOP  dogs being sent to the shelter and eventually destroyed.  Rachelle has seen it happen too many times and this was the driving force for her passion!
I am proud to call her friend. So if you have a dog - it's never too late!! Or you know someone who is bringing home a puppy! THIS IS the perfect gift. Check them out on Face Book - once they reach 200 LIKES they are drawing for a free Kit!!
https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Happy-Puppy-Training-Kit-and-Introduction-To-Canine-Body-Language/325099824206867  or just search The Happy Puppy training kit!
ALSO check out the web site! : http://www.windywillowspetservices.caI can't tell you how amazing this kit has change our doggie home - while training Daisy - Scruffy has really become a top honor student of her own!  It is wonderful...xox  <><

Boobies!

Picture
I re-drew this cartoon from one I did a while ago- I've been conflicted about posting a woman showing her boobies - even if it is a cartoon. Not all of us  are bold about baring our boobies. ALTHOUGH legal in Canada.   Cannabis illegal.   I am sure boobies may have killed someone - people comment about suffocating all the time - you never know. Anyhow it made me giggle. I hope it makes others giggle too. What does it tell you ? Priorities?  Clearly boobies are it. There is hope for the legalization of Cannabis yet!
I got some great news yesterday :
"Your card has gone a long way in not only impressing our judges but our
consumers as well!  We're excited to let you know your card has been one of top sellers and
we are brining it back to our retail stores!"  ** from Hallmark Cards.

Very cool. Now perhaps I can find one and mail it to  friend. I tried for weeks to find one to mail to my friend Ivan for his birthday - this year!
I had someone just show up at my door with a baby kangaroo and my camera did not work - that's o.k. it was SO CUTE!!!!!!  A friend is coming for lunch - not planned - LIFE is so wonderful - you never know what tomorrow will bring.  You just have to make sure your here to welcome/see it.
OPEN, heart, mind and sometimes door.   xox <><

YIPPIE! Everywhere you look - little buds! Bits of green popping up all around all with the promise of so much more! That is Faith. We know it is coming. We know we will see it again. We have faith. I have faith In a few things I have yet to physically see but I know they are coming . ;-)  A tribute to the greatest - hard working - best attitude cartoonist EVER. Charles Schultz. Thank you. HOW many he inspired that when you see a dog do this dance before you realize it you have a smile on your face. WE know it means SNOOPY is HAPPY!
it is the original Happy Dance. Not over a lottery winning but over a love of life.
Spring is here and once again you better believe I m doing the happy dance!
For the love of life. Some photos taken in this beautiful warm March!! It was 20 yesterday - to be 22 today!!! Spring has spung!

One day at a time, one week at a time. That is about as far ahead as I plan.
YESTERDAY was beautiful! We sat outside, read the paper in out T-shirts in early March!
The sounds of spring all around, kids, birds , dogs, a guitar - wow! It made me think- AMEN we've come through another winter. Storm and I took the dogs on a long walk - Daisy off leash already at 7 months - he really has her trained well.  Lots of talking and laughing and waiting for the first sprouts of green -  we did see pussy willows!  All and all it was a great weekend. I was speaking with Storm  an told him - "this is it, I am quite content here." We were sitting in my studio at the time, surrounded by the girls, good music, a few laughing Buddha, and a visit from my guys from time to time, I Am happy. My Hubby is happy.
My son is Happy. Our dogs are Happy ;-)
I noted Sunday - all of us were up and at it by 8. LOL- Sleep in? What is that?
It is all about keeping busy, not distracted.  Doing what you love keeps HOPE alive.
Several new toons that need inking but I have company coming tomorrow so I have to do domestic stuff! LOL  Scruffy is the ultimate lapdog.  Drew this one for my honey, he loves all things Scruffy.

Puppy love...

There is nothing like a PUP!  Daisy is home recovering from being spayed this week. You would never know it to watch her and I am constantly telling her to "cool it" but I am so happy she seems like nothing even happened.
I only take drawing jobs that I know I will truly enjoy and early Jan. I was approached by someone who is putting out a training product.  If you now me you know I'm already a  Cesar fan and we have a pup so I thought great (even though I already know quite a bit -or so I thought).  I have LOVED this job.  The product NOT on shelves yet - so I can not disclose too much, I can tell you that it takes what I have learned with Cesar to a whole new level, many times I would think - Yeah, but Cesar knows that - his life is dog,  the average pet owner (unexperienced) does not know what to look for. I not only learned so much as a dog owner but as a cartoonist! Stuff that once I drew, read and understood my mind simply clicked "That is SOO TRUE!"  Storm and I have been talking about it quite a bit, I have drawn over 140+ pups for this project and he also notices the stuff to look for to train a happy  healthy pup. People are commenting all the time on how well Daisy behaves. SHE is only 5 months and still has work to do and her puppy energy - is just that! Puppy energy! Embrace it ;-)  It is fantastic! Very cool to own a well behaved dog ;-))
A bonus of the job was also getting to meet and friend the woman behind it all. I was convinced to draw for her for a few reasons, mostly her passion. She is in the field and is aware of the problems with people giving their dogs to shelters because of bad behavior. She sees all the dogs who need homes and are put to sleep because of people who do not take the time to train a pup properly. When people get pups - do they not THINK - this PUP *IF they are lucky - will be with them for possibly 15 years or more! Take the time to train early for a life time with a great companion.
When this program hits the shelves I will be promoting it - NOT because I drew it - (that's a bonus) BUT because I know it works and believe in it. I believe this program can save many canine lives and a few sofas! So stay tooned..   I am honored to be a part of such a good thing.

I have to say Scruffy is right on with the program! LOL - She wants to compete with Daisy.
Tequila is old and grumpy and still calls the shots - mostly from her basket! LOL

I missed yesterday - a bit under the weather. We certainly can not complain about this winter here in Canada - unless of course you LIKE snow. I like it - to look at but that's about it.  So today I am grateful for photos- visuals that summer is around the corner and the promise of spring - NEW life with it!
I watched a documentary last night on North Korea. I am thankful I AM in Canada.
To be ruled by a man (men) who watch their people starve, keep them ignorant so that they do not realize what the rest of the world is like. The only one  obese in the Documentary was Kim Jong il. They worship no God other than Kim Jong il. They have prisons every where and most things are punishable by death. Speak Ill of il and you are put to death.
The ones that do escape to China are then treated like dogs and forced into sexual labour - or sent back  - where they will be put to death.  Shame on China.
I say Thank God I am born in Canada and then I look at our leader - S----- H----- -( fill in the blanks any way you wish.) With him building  the new prisons and turning Canadians into criminals. Changing the name of OUR government to Harpers Government.  I had a friend who bitched about S.H all the time but when it came time to vote - she didn't have time to look into the other candidates so she voted "for the evil she knew".
Instead of making a change because of being lazy - that is what it is all about, not going to vote, not finding out who possibly has your best interest at heart. LAZY. Vote for the evil you know? Then deserve the evil you get.  BUT your children don't.  I did not VOTE for S.H.  I WILL NOT vote for S.H.  In this country we have the right to vote. I will not vote for the lesser evil but for someone who gives me hope. I am thankful I was born in Canada and hopeful next election we will vote out our Kim Jon- opppps I meant S.H.
GIVE thanks.  Not sure who you will vote for, I suggest you start looking into it now...  or just look around, people hurting, losing jobs, jails being built...

I am thankful for my girls who bring me smiles every day. No dogs in North Korea. ;-(

First New week In the New year!

Monday! I realized yesterday - doing my domestic diva stuff, every where I looked I am surrounded by LOVE!  Day after day I am loved unconditionally. Pets help us. They comfort, assist humor and love us. Also recently learning they need to obey us as well. How wonderful to have a turkey diner and not have all the dogs begging at the side of our chair.. thank you Cesar.  So Simply today I am thankful for my pets.  From oldest to youngest... Each age is the info under the image - you might be shocked!   If you can rescue a cat or dog with some training and lots of love you will have a companion and friend for their life. Or in the case of Larry - they might outlive you!  All living in one house, playing, eating together, sleeping- Fur, skin, scales - True LOVE sees no difference! I am blessed to have these beasts!
Not to mention all the cartoon ideas they inspire! ;-)) hee hee

We have been watching the Dog Whisperer -Cesar Millan. I can honestly tell you that already in a week Daisy responds to sit, paw, down and come! When I do that “CHHHHHT” she instantly looks at me and sits.
Now here is the amazing part- So does Scruffy! She is only now learning to sit on command. I have not taken them for walks because Scruffy - little power house that she is, pulls terribly and I have arthritis in both hands & sore hands = no draw. So I bought her a choke collar and already she is not pulling and walking amazing!  Hail Cesar!
Tequila has growled at everyone forever and she just looks at me with eyes that clearly say - you have got to be kidding. She is 16 and a wonderful dog. She has her puppy moments and never refuses to chase a ball - so I have no intentions of pinning her to the ground to make her listen. She does acknowledge that I am pac leader and quietly walks away when discipline the others. hee hee hee.  Daisy right now loves the new snow! Her first snow ever! How exciting it must be! She comes in through that dog door and bounds right up to who ever she sees! CRAZY DOG!!  Scruffy use to be a crazy dog until one day when Norm for a joke pinched her nipple(s) made the sound of milking a cow (? my cartoonist mind has created -as I have never milked a cow) and she instantly lay back  it was like she was hypnotized!  LOL To this day it is all that it takes to calm her down *she really does look like the toon when it happens. Isn’t it amazing how much they affect our lives these wonderful furry creatures! Not a day goes by where they don’t make me smile or lavish me with affection.

Yes we love our dogs but we do realize they do need discipline, they need to listen, it takes time but I believe when you get past this crazy puppy stage you will have a friend for life! One that doesn’t piss you off cause she ate your purse handle or favorite bra! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Thank you Cesar for sharing  your gift . Doing what you love and helping so many animals from being put down or given away.  xox

Daisy is teething. Tiny little sharp teeth, a mouth full of them !   We are prepared with pet toys, we have a basket full of them. Stuffed, unstuffed, balls, fake bones, squeaky toys and lots of tug of way toys. Puppies like to chew so we purchased extra chew toys this weekend in preparation for some serious gnawing.  The toon speaks for it self. It is always the way...  just like with little children - toss the toy and play with the box!  Puppies like children want more than anything LOVE. Kittens too.  For giving us unconditional love they ask for very little in return - food, water  - some don’t even get shelter and a stick is as good as any bought toy.  Is there any wonder why I cannot resist a puppy? Even one that destroys my favorite slippers...  As she grows so does all our Love for her. Daisy is already a member of this family - you will see her from time to time in the strip.
It’s Monday the start of a new week and
 -I am thank for puppies
-I am thankful for people who sell puppies at a reasonable price because they want to find the pup’s a good home  and are not out to make $$$$. (lesson learned in hunting for a puppy)
-I am thankful for good meals and good company,
two of which I have had this week, one was our church potluck! So nice to see all these lovely ladies and the other was Normans birthday dinner.
 -Inspiration.
-I am grateful for Faith - Faith in what ever it is I need to have faith in.

Tis the season!!

Yeah !!! - we have a Christmas display! Years ago we had a huge display, reindeer, Santa and his sleigh, elves and the grinch on the roof ! Busses would tour by our home the Christmas season and we won best Christmas display in Keswick. Then one day a guy asked Norm "how much for the deer?" Display sold.  At halloween I can't tell you the number of people who ask, 'are you going to do something for Christmas?'  so we decided to get busy! A tribute to
the greatest cartoonist who ever graced this earth IMO. Charles Schultz!  Well it's done and out! I can't wait for the snow!  Today is my hubby's birthday but the norm for NORM was out of bed and in that garage by 8 this a.m. to get it done!  I've already seen a few kids pointing and smiling - again - that is the reason!  I am blessed to have such a talented hubby - we make a pretty good team. A few photos below and a couple of Miss Daisy and Scruffy who are already the best of friends. Tequila is grateful for the rest from Scruffy. ;-))  Happy Sunday!  What ever your belief.. make someone smile. Christmas or Happy Holidays it's about each other.  What ever your reason for the season.  Peace on earth.

Introducing Daisy

6/12/2011

After much discussion and searching every couple of days we found Daisy.  I will be completely honest, I was afraid to get a puppy- even after the e mail confirmed and the pick up time arranged my stomach in knots.. should we?   WE did!  Only a few days in and we are all so happy and in love already with our new addition Daisy.  The past month and much conversation we decided we can't be afraid, we have a home and love to offer and a desire to have a dog.  I tried shelters first, I like to get a dog from a shelter - problem in a house full of animals it is best to introduce a puppy. Puppies at shelters are few and far between.  We have  Ticky who is our old girl and Scruffy -who already has a huge attitude so a puppy allows  everyone to let their guard down - including our cat Darkie who is already stealing food right from Daisy's mouth!  I did in fact try to get a dog that was over a year and the owner changed her mind - then just after I arranged to pick up Daisy - I got an e mail  saying she had changed her mind and we could have the dog- it was too late I have already confirmed Daisy.   Why Daisy? She is so CUTE!
She was born on a farm only one of 3 puppies (not a mill) and pets stores - well come on $800- and up?  NOT to mention I love a MUTT!!! All our dogs (except for the 2 great danes) have been mixed breeds. In our experience and that of friends I have heard many stories that other pure breeds all come with their problems.  A dog is a dog, mutts love just like every other dog.  I found Daisy on Kijijii  We did have to drive 2.5 hours one way. Worth every mile.
Daisy is home - first a bath! Living in a barn she smelled like a cow. LOL  The amazing thing is she instantly started to scratch the door to go out or whined - I guess because she was alwasy outside - so not one accident! YeHAW !!   And today - only day three, she uses the dog door!!!   Most importantly - she is very lovable, a tail that wags with just a look at her. They say.... a dog's lifespan is like a twinkle of a star in the universe, the influence of a canine companion on one's soul is forever.  This I know to be true.
Soon it will be time to introduce Daisy into the strip now that she is introduced into our hearts.  She looks like  Rotti - but she is German Shepherd & Lab cross.
Time to do some puppy training and then draw daisy for the first time.  :-)
