Haliburton Golden lake trout on a paddle

Picture
My newest Oar a Haliburton Fish caught in a local lake -there was a mix up because i forgot the print out & deleted the email - I thought it was a pike,  clearly I do not know my fish...  learning with each I paint.  I'm getting better at fish - I think.
This fish - was different with it's white dots- the background should not take attention away from his beauty, I thought.
This fish is  a 'Haliburton Gold Lake Trout, only caught here.  I'm not sure exactly where that "here" is,  so you'll have to figure that out if you hope to catch one.

It's off to the paddle Shop in Haliburton!
It was very nice of the shop to provide paddles (& sanded them) for an affordable price - it's a creative painting surface &  delightful to design! AS soon as the pandemic is over - the Haliburton Forest paddle shop is on my to do list!   Follow them on instagram, I had no idea how much work goes into creating a paddle...  as well as the different style paddles with burned, stamped & painted enhancements.

When the pandemic is over...
What will it take - IF they tell us to stay home to get it under control- "IT'S THE LAW" - stay the fuck home.  I don't get it .. whats the cost of covid?  A trip to the store for a bottle of booze & bag of chips?  A short visit with friends?  Running out for your Bingo sheets?  Essential services 'Extremely IMPORTANT'.
According to the newest model of covid expected illness & death - vaccines won't help much at this rate.

Stay home.  Stay healthy.

Feeling loony! I love loons.

puzzleThat's Tom! The Bird house guy... he builds em & I paint em Eh! lol
I love the newest BIRD house -  A loon!
It's become my own personal challenge to make each bird house better than the last & enjoy what I'm doing.  Can you tell?  Tom enjoys keeping busy - we finally met & instantly 'hit it off' as did his lovely wife & I... I knew we would.  Each loon is different- I paint 4 at a time & I keep one.. so if you like a loon you better hurry!  I am very tempted to keep all these loons- they'll look so neat up on a post.

There are ways we can still help each other.. Volunteer your services!
We voluntered the Bumble display & are thrilled.. we can actually hear' how happily it's being received in the community.  Making others smile' is powerful stuff.

Stay in & stay safe - stay creative! Are you prepared for this winter? It's going to be a terrific time to learn a new hobby, start a new puzzle, knit a new sweater (I wish), paint a new masterpiece! I'll definately be painting a few more bird houses.

5 minutes after I posted yesterday - Norm came in with Gloria under his arm! YAY!!  lol   Thoughts of Gloria freezing in the woods in -12 weather  was upsetting.
20 minutes later I was making a 'Free to a Good Home.. ASSHOLE Rooster', sign.  It's how they got out - from Gloria picking on Foghorn and he will win- he is easily 3 times Foghorns size - He's a big beautiful bird black (green in the sunlight) but he is too big for my tiny chickens- want a rooster?
It has forced us to have a farm conversation.. if we can not find a home for Gloria, I guess he should end up in our freezer.    I was warned about roosters...  did you know it is hard to tell the difference when they are small chicks.  I know, now.
Gloria is also nasty twoards the small dogs - Daisy has alwasy had it 'out for Gloria'- I wonder if animals know which animals are assholes?   I think so.  For now - Gloria is safe, warm & fed in the zen hen den... for now.

Next  How Kermit & I feel about all this covid crap.

Christmas  202o...  the Grinch is back.

According to the news Canada has record numbers and about 2 weeks before hospitals are  scrambling & overwhelmed... just in time for Christmas. Ho ho ho.

The rest of the world doesn't appear much better off.
I'm not feeling 'Christmasy' this year, as I'm sure many are not - I'm excited to see how we will  be creative in new ways this holiday! I do believe the world is becomeing a little more thoughtful' , AWAKE & that is hopeful.  A good thing to focus on.

No Christmas tree. Not with the puppy, a few favorite decorations like the stable Norm made many moons ago...  I have 'skipped' Christmas before, it was less stressful & less work! More quality time relaxing & watching wood burn, snow falling... dog snuggling.
We plan on a special meal, exchange a gift  -HOMEMADE  (by the grace of God) but that's all.  In the past I've alwasy encouraged ***NOT Going into debt at Christmas***
& this year is NOT the exception.
Please don't.  Be honest with your children & they will become wise beings.
Adding debt - adds stress & that takes away from the quality of life...
2020 has been stressful enough.

Do support local business, perhaps smaller stores as they are hurting the most from what I've been reading.. these small communities 'rely on each other'  we are shopping local, local takeout,  local farm' supplies...   Amazon- is not hurting.
Preferably handcrafted, I also hope to purchase a couple of Music CD's from some Canadian artists.   Please support your community & country.

Tom's got bird houses! $15 - $40 all money goes to local charity!
 & you are helping birds.
Either way...    the Grinch is back  Christmas 2020

Bumble is back! & friends.

Bumble has come out of hibernation! Rudolph too...  Norm had to fine tune them to make sure all is working nicely as Bumble & Rudolph are going on a wee adventure where they will be enjoyed by many tiny humans (big too & not just the bears.
It was  neat to see it up. It still makes us smile - Bumble with this black background night sky'-  is even more impressive.  I'm very happy it will be enjoyed tho, as I feel this Holiday won't be the same in too many ways due to covid.
While he put it up the dogs helped as did I when I filmed him & couldn't stop laughing, due to his positioning at the time, I'll let you know where they are as soon as set up, in case you'd like to drive by and have a peek!

In celebration I've decided to paint a Bumble to give away on Instagram as well as painted a time-lapse bumble in case anyone wants to make one themselves!  This is 6x6 wood panel from the dollar store and acrylic paint: White, Black, Blue (dark - I used Cyan), Red.  & I used what I have, dollar store paint will work great!  I also put on a coat of  'Mod podge'  (available at most stores in the craft isle)  watered down *this step is optional.

I think for any Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer fans - this would be a sweet little gift and it looks cute sitting on a shelf!  It's easy enough for children - step by step simple lines and shapes. When you sketch your bumble press harder with the pencil- so you can see it easier.  I can't stress enough letting it dry - in between steps or you will end up with a messy bumble... if working with children you could take a coco break & talk about feeling left out or being made fun of just like Rudolph.
Don't forget to add on the back :Name & date

Below is Bumble in steps with simple instructions below each image.
To see the TimelapseVideo of Bumble being painted you'll have to chek my Instagram page Georgia.toons   Have fun

Hee Hee! That was the most fun I've ever had with a commission!!  When approached - it took me all of 3 seconds to decide... YES!  I was asked to paint these doggos (some still here & some passed) - the concept alone was exciting. The client had no idea of the direction I was going and this painting was a bit bigger than she suggested.  I asked for 3 photos of each dog and a paragraph on each dog.. then, I started & became so caught up - it was like they were my dogs, I forgot to even take photos.  The timing perfect,  soon we welcome our new baby & I have dogs on the brain.  This was hard for me to part with & harder to keep since it was already paid for haha.   It was also heavy as it is painted on wood. Thanks to Norm for his assistance.  The client is very pleased... which has me beaming.
Painted with LOVE... it is loved.  I love to paint. More than ever before - it's this hill. It's why when I first stepped out of the vehicle on the first visit here - I KNEW, this is it.

When I first told people where I lived - everyone asked - The puppet house? Do you have a sweet little sauna? Well.. YES! I do have a  sweet little sauna, as for puppets house, I have no clue.  Then, it was dolls of some sort, finally we fond out the house up the hill was the place that made Wrinkle dogs. Remember them, big in the 8o's? How cool & fun must that have been - VERY - when I still see people smile who said they were up years ago when they did the puppet show.  Then I researched a little further to find out the creator (rockstar) Catherine Senitt was also an amazing painter! Talk about a creative genius... it appears this woman did it all. I then found her website  Cathy Senitt & was  up all night looking over her art.  I knew it felt special.. this hill. I have BIG brushes (paint) to follow.. lol  Below is one of her works I love- birds of course but I recommend you check out her website to see how vibrant her art is!!

I still feel Cathys energy  & am blessed because of it.  I knew it!
Each morning I wake - inspired- what shall I paint today!?   What can we create!
I am planning a 'Tribute' painting reflecting one of Cathys, for my home (which I understand was built for her parents).   As for all her awards, galleries..  I can still dream.
I have reward enough by waking up each morning surrounded by all this beauty- thank God.

There is no contact info on her website. I hope she is still well, thriving & absolutely still painting. I'm blessed because she shared this hill & art before me. I live on a hill named after a successful Canadian Artist! Female! Ha!

I can't stop.. do what you love.  Cathy obviously did - all those puppets! Oh my gosh, I wished I would have known and visited the puppet house - as a kid... even happier to
 Be HERE NOW.

Inspired by love you will not fail & the message that the client sent me was full of love. ;)
Yay! Support your local artists!

Mental health Monday - An artist was born.

Picture
I had just won the art award in highschool & was at my grandma's when a family member remarked "We always knew you were going to be an artist! You use to paint the walls with shit!" ...several looked at each other and laughed - I did too.

I laughed until I understood.  Then I cried.
I had heard this a few times as I got older, you see I thought it was kinda funny... taking off my diaper & drawing on the walls with my shit - how creative of me! I guess I was born an artist.  It wasn't until I realized - much later in life - this was a very common occurance and many had found me covered in caked on shit.. sitting in my crib with shit on the walls.
It was not a one time thing.  It was a sign of serious neglect.

My mother did not care if I shit myself.. apparently I would be found  and someone would take pity & bath me. I should consider myself lucky she did not give a shit about me being covered in shit.. I doubt she would have been any more atttentitive or loving with me in the tub - washing off the shit.   Some shit never washes off.

I hear stories of people when they are little and they are cute & loving.. I think awwwww.
This was not my childhood.  I know I spent way too much time alone, my entire childhood.
I try NOW to understand EVERY thing happens for a reason but still I struggle - what was the reason God- I was given to someone who did not want me or love me?  So, at the age of 56 I can still be effected by this SHIT and brought to tears- UNTIL I remember - NEVER AGAIN - will I give that person the satisfaction of ever treating me like SHIT again.
Yes, I will continue - so every Monday is a reminder to me & hopefully to others..

I know my mother was seriously struggling with depression & was an alcholic, that does not make it an excuse to abuse your child.  Are you depressed? Is you child suffering because  it?  GET help.
Are you a family member who sees a child being neglected?   WTF?    HELP MORE!
Are you an adult now, still haunted by your childhood memories?
Acknowledge, understand - IT WAS NEVER YOU!  Breath and go create!
You are a child of GOD- still here for a reason! Go create - Be joyful - that is the best success  & way to thank God.  I'm glad I was such a creative tiny being who was able to amuse myself painting with shit.. lol
NOW, I paint to forget shit.. once I start painting  - all disappears, Thank GOD.
People alwasy comment on the amount I paint..  I paint to keep painfree - in more ways than anyone might imagine.  I focus on what & whom I love NOW, those who don't love me - can focus on what ever the fuck they want - who needs people like that in their lives?
NOT ME.
Next week - playing HOOKEY!  Day's I got to stay home...... yippie.

Aren't you all glad I can NOW afford paint!?   hahaha
Fuck that past shit!
I'm going to not give a shit while I smoke some really good shit  (thanks Son!)
& contemplate what kinda shit I'll get into, next.

;)

I NEVER, ever let my son sit in a dirty diaper. Not once.
I gave him paint while he was still in diapers. I loved him with every breath, still do.
He liked to play in the dirt more... clearly with Love his passion GREW!  hee hee
& yesterday I painted 'a gardeners prayer- inspired by proverbs & the bible...
I'll share tomorrow.

Welcome  . Be here Now  .  Teach Only Love, that is what WE are.
3 important messages I want to share... painted NOW on my welcoming gate post  totem.
This sign is as much for me as it is for all who enter.  More meaning for me of course.. we all need reminding from time to time.

First I added the chicken, Ive been telling friends to come get excess eggs and now they know where - behind the chicken.  Laid Daily...  lol   eggs.  Seeing the chicken in the forrest made me giggle.. even with few(er) trees behind it.

The top is a cannabis leaf crown with a Bee.. with out the bees - we are finished.. Be kind.
Welcome : if you are here and coming in - you must have been invited - so WELCOME!
The sacred heart crown on a fox with a big smile - pointing up to remind me of a Higher purpose & the hand symbol for I Love you.   Any Eye of God flower crown- protecting our home & property, on a bear spirit holding the beehive  also remind us BE here NOW.  Enjoy all Gods glory surrounding us. & above all else a reminder - mostly to myself Teach only Love, that is what we are.

I don't alwasy teach love. Do you? I am human.. I do eventually. I've thought much about my gate this past week and trees & I've come to the conclusion to Let it go and give it to God because it's more improtant in this case to be peaceful than right.  Covid has played a part too- a thousand people are daying a day.. ;(  The saddness must be mounting.  Many are effected by covid & don't even know it. I don't mean physical symptoms.

I feel safe here in our tiny oasis, blessed to be here...  and have never ever liked seeing any trees cut down (that are not dead) ever.  I was pondering my neighbour who does have a business & no doubts a little more stressed perhaps than we are... because my first impression of him (last summer) was good.  I forced myself to remember this. So I wanted to teach ONLY love - because that is what i am.  Practice what I preach - I had to wait a few days to make sure the card was drawn with love. It was.
I painted him a card & will deliver it.

I'll let it go and leave it with God.  It was the kids that  helped me- kids I've never met but was hoping to  actually have some painting classes with - covid interfered before I could ask.  I did hint tho, lol  & above all else - it is important to "me," that any kids living close know- if they ever need help - they can count on us as neighbours to help as best as we can.
I SEE covid making people NOT so neighbourly. Causing some of us (all of us at one time or another) to "snap" and perhaps say and behave how we don't normally.   What is the point over staying angry?  It only adds to ones own stress.  I'd rather watch dragonflies and paint.

Brain Stimulation & shopping during covid.

We were out and about on the weekend to check out the Enchanted Forest at Abby Gardens- what a cool premise for tiny beings! It is truly a creative place  & I hope to brighten it up a bit.. this pandemic thing tho has interrupted - everything.
Nothing was as easy as it once was- grocery shopping for example is a chore I don't enjoy - walk this way ( people not following)... people getting impatient, some in masks, most not.. arguing in the parking lot,  before we even got out of our vehicle we watched a man & women yelling at each other over masks or lack of & distance at the grocery store.

Norm & I both noticed something else & it's quite a conundrum - we want to go out to encourange the local economy (as being promoted on the local radio station - constantly), we are keeping busy - building. BUT the treatment on the weekend was...  messed up.
One store (hardware) had an employee OBVIOUSLY SICK - hacking in her mask- WTF? Who cares IF it's NOT COVID!? The Mind says- YIKES.  Other employees - some in masks some not - were 'not' helpful...  I watched some who avoided customers and I don't blame them.   I guess THEY MUST work & some are clearly STILL Not comfortable with that.

Another store we went into to buy material & other items - the woman SNAPPED at us, yelling across the store - "I'll need to cut that!!!" accompanied with a dirty look -  Yes, I am aware you might be asked to provide SERVICE.
If you have a problem tell me at the door and I'll happily KEEP out.
Again - yet another business - unlike others..  you can only step in the door and look from there only.  Not happening, my brain struggles with normal shopping trips -I admit -  I can't do it... it creates anxiety and I just want OUT.
So - so much for supporting the local economy.  It's one thing to spend your money but to spend it on blatant shitty service & insults - cowabunga.  I'll stay home & save money.

I get it- BUT what I DO not get it allowing it to happen- if your employees are NOT happy - figure something out because I'll tell you - the ONE store- we will never go in again.  & I know I'm not alone... who would?  Why would you give business to someone who treats you badly? I understand it's difficult times- but not wise to take it out on your CUSTOMERS. Am I wrong?  It was not just the one store- it was MOST of them.
Our business lost for good. Covid or no covid- You don't yell at customers for no reason.

We did stop in to Haliburton breweries (not yet fully functional) & the service thankfully, was friendly & enjoyable - so much so I picked up a Ukulele.  Time to teach my brian something new- of course I had to paint it first! It's made by Flight - so I painted 'Flight.
I'm excited to try- it might be difficult with fingers that don't bend, still I'll try.
I enjoyed painting this so much I'm picking up another- the idea already imagined.
I do think they can open the patio as of this FRIDAY.
I encourage to visit if you can - it's a neat place.  Halliburton Brewery

What NEW hobby would you like to teach your brain?

Deck designed by me & build by Norm!
Picture
The perfect sign for this Covid-19 summer!  My deck is decked out - weeeeeeeeee!!
I knew when we bought the house it needed work & who better than Norm & I?  I fell through the old deck last year (rotten in a couple of places) and 1/2 was missing completely so stepping out the studio, I stepped out to rocks and a tiny  (not well made) bridge' to the bird deck  -was an accident waiting to happen - so DECK DAYS!!  lol
I designed the new deck and Norm got to work & it turned out Fricken fantastic- exactly what I wanted - a dream come true!

It's mental HEALTH Monday - want to know what' s  MORE stressful than covid?
The fucking government not making up their mind!!  Wear a mask- don't wear a mask..  stay home - it's o.k. to go to to a beach/park and pack like a rock concert - Holy! WTF?
Will the death number go UP these next couple of weeks? I think so.
I think, I am excited to stay home and chill on the deck allllll summer if need be  & now...

Norm rocked the deck! Don't think it was all fun and games- he has me as the foreman' and everyday I was up and out of bed yelling :It's deck day!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!
60ish - one man one week! Ripped out the old - ppoured cement! Dug holes. shovelled rocks, cut wood.. carried wood (LOTS)  predrilled, drilled and customised - to my exact specifications! Fuck ya! Look at the railing we made. hee hee.  & yesterday, he made the mistake of starting something new- the deck could wait...  so he thought.
NO, it could not and the bear in me let him know it. I've lived 28 years with unfinished projects at the last place- not happening here!!  A bit of grumbling - he finished and Im so happy - Im deck dancing with dogs!.. I decked it out with plants- Norm then build us a fantatic table from old pool table feet someone gave him years ago & a found cedar door that was on the property.  It won't blow over & we don't care if it gets wet.

I love my deck & Norm for building it for me- I am not an easy going client or wife - hahaha
I make sure he's not taking too long of a break and up and ready to rock at 8 a.m.!  & I don't love him because he built me the deck (in record time). I love him because he'd stop and wash the dogs, stop and make ziplock candle holders from the left over cement with me, ingnore me when I 'lose it' and yell due to the mess  I'm having to step over - lol, as I survey the job! hahaha!

Yes, he loves me too - big time.
The proof of our love is in the details of our home... look at that railing. hee hee.
It's a differnet love than it was 28 years ago (OMG - 28 years!?)  it's stronger...  it should change - it does change. The lovey dovey crap- gone... the loyality & love for both the men in my life - watch out- mess with my son or husband and you'll meet mamabear.  I don't know a harder working guy & I'm glad he's here - even thou some days I tell him to:
Get out of my face!
Love is.

We talked about all 'this stuff' before Norm moved here & we continued this journey together... I dont know anyone else I could live with, art with - we are a good team.  Time to paint a portrait, plant a garden & chill on my lovely dream deck!  The  bird railing is for art, provides the illusion of being up high, it's only 2 feet off the ground!
Time for a nice glass of  grape juice with soda & a big fat joint our on the deck!

For my mental health - I'll stay home to avoid confusion and germs!
I'll keep busy & garden, draw, paint & explore. I'll nap too.

Seed Chimp - Oooooooooo

22/5/2020

Picture
Seeds have been planted!  Will deer eat my veges? I hope not...
SEEDS!  I'm planting my 4 seeds for patio plants, Cannabis I'll grow and EAT!
Bird likes it too- I like it in salads and juiced...  My son looks after my smoke'.
I plant bird his own vege selection, I pick him fresh dandylions too.
I saw this bird bath in a magazine and decided to make my own version - now ART in the garden..
I purchased all supplies at our local sweet garden store, just around the corner!
Pine Reflections in Carnarvon,  a tiny little BIG selection garden centre.
Want to make your own designer bird bat ?     You need:
a tomatoe cage - I lked the  delux green..
                                                       Chicken wire
something to tie on the chicken wire to the frame - wire, tie wraps, string.
                                              Lots of rocks! Shells.. treasures
a BIG plant saucer (water drainage) or a big bowl  Re USE!

All you do is put it together - fill it and top it with a bowl & water! Fantastic bird bath that's very affordable.  I DO have lots of rocks on my property, that helped. lol   Perhaps start with a smaller cage. One full of shells would be stunning.. bowling balls?  Rocks.. plants.. pinecones! What you use depends on your personal preference.  Have fun!

I can't wait - mine is just off the end of the deck- I've not seen birds bath yet- I know I will!
I old Norm after it was full I wanted it moved a foot over- lol    not happening.
I could sell it complete, if anyone is interested for $100.
Shipping is $1000.00  some assembly required. Hahaha

I went out yesterday and some are wearing masks and some are not...
Some wear gloves some don't.   I don't enjoy this new experience (shopping) and found grocery shopping slightly frustraiting.  I sure hope this isnt going to relax people to the point of starting all over again...  I think I'll continue to go out very few times if possible.
I have invited a few to a BBQ- 2023 ;)   Norms  built the deck and the birds are calling! I now have a bird watching bench! TWEET TWEET!

Enjoy the day- wash your hands and don't go - if you don't have to.
Today - 27! YeeeHaw! Bikini weather.
I hope you like the bird bath & make your own - it is a 'feature in our garden to bejoyed by creatures tiny and big.. deer drinking level. hee hee.
