All paths lead to him - this one included. Stone path by Storm
When we visited the Robert Bateman display in Minden there was a photo of his cottage (local) with a huge stone path -and I remarked how much I loved it. Storm the past week searched the property and dug up some beautiful huge slate stones and created a path! It looks and feels fantastic - art in itself! I'm not saying this because it's Storm but I was impressed with this job - and job it was! Just getting the rocks took a couple of days. It was also hot.
It was fun to watch it come together - like a giant puzzle made of The Canadian Shield ;) - it enhances the property and feels good on the feet. Every time I go out, I notice another stone and find myself staring at its beauty. I love rocks!
This path is even more special because he did it and not a stranger, landscaper'. It was a labour of LOVE. He even pressed Poppys tiny paw in some cement -I smile at every glance. There are also a few unique stones that I've collected over the years - it's better than Batemans - lol - says me & Poppy. We all like it so much he is going to continue on the other side -which means finding more rocks.
Now were looking for plants to put in the cracks so far I've been reading about Creeping Thyme or creeping phlox which will do well in full sun. I'm sure it will only look better with time as it already looks fantastic.
The girls seem to love it too, Poppy loves to sun on the rocks and Arrow like to lay there also.
Below are photos of the progress... I'm very grateful, it's perfect. Happy August 1st!
