Domestika -on line learning
The above drawing was inspired from my online class: Introduction to Children’s Illustration with Adolfo Serra, which I enjoyed - although it was Spanish subtitles, I had to pause often to look at the art as well as read the subtitles. Yes, I know how to draw but there is always something to be learned from another. I found this class educating, exciting and inspiring. This cat concept was from the one Adolfo drew for his version of Alice in wonderland -which I really liked so I explored.
I’m also working on my own fairytale as he suggests, and playing around with different painting ideas. I’ll share it when complete. I’ve designed the characters, know the direction I want to go & am storyboarding today, all things I learned in animation but from a new opinion/perspective. So far so good. I’m already signed up for 2 more classes & have seen a few gouache lessons I’m also interested in. I won’t start another until I finish my fairytale.
This was a good place to start, even if you don’t ‘think’ you can draw, simple, clear instruction would be easy for anyone to follow.
Domestika - it's a great way to discover the direction you might want to go! https://www.domestika.org/en
It is as enjoyable to learn as it is to teach! Have a peek at Domestika - the prices are very reasonable imo, cheaper that a meal out., bottle of wine or even to rent a movie in some cases.
