Pondering the pond life. gouache on black 8 x 8
I painted this pondering frog to try out the time-lapse (you can watch on my instagram account) I had the background a different colour and changed it as I went along, I wanted the frog to stand out more. I have the stand for taking videos set up, free from distractions, lamps and me reaching for snacks.. now if can just remember to turn it on. lol. I have been taking classes with Ruth Wilshaw - her 30 day gouache pass is quite the deal, there is always something to be learned & I learned she too forgets to turn the camera on. It's how I start my mornings - painting.
There is much to ponder currently... most important, a new study (all over the news) states covid shots 'may' (which means they do) increase the chances of heart attack in older people.. this makes me sad, I know several elders who are on their 5th (or more) covid shots -ironically most of them still catching covid. And of course the topic Ive addressed countless times - the chemical cocktail already being consumed by the elderly, can't be helping. I hope people who care about their parents inform them & others.
Apparently women are dating less and 'swiping' even less - I guess so. Good, maybe this will bring back old school -meeting each other in real life, not on some ap. Tired of being ghosted (immature behaviour), catfished, mislead or with a a partner still swiping - always looking, There's no way a relationship stands a chance with mindsets that know they can constantly move on. Phone attention instead of partner attention is also becoming tiresome. There is a video on social media where the man says: Touch your phone more than your woman? Look at your phone more than looking at your woman? Thinking about your phone more than your woman... don't worry - you won't have your woman long, and can then devote all your attention to your phone. Bingo. I don't know how any relationships even get started now a days. A study also suggests couples that post everything - doing everything together, is a sign of insecurity in the relationship... Perhaps.
People are starting to drink less - yay! It's becoming such a trend, more alcohol-less beverages are being offered at bars. I have not had a glass of wine or anything else in over a month. My last experience was not good - it was a bit scary to tell the truth & I am grateful! It made me say - nope, Im done. No more & it's not even crossed my mind since. I will share because if people talked more about these things - we'd understand it's more common than we think, and not good. I have blacked out a few times from alcohol but still function... meaning I do things I do not remember at all, but other people say I seemed fine. I didn't do anything wild but the last time I had too much to drink, I woke the next day to see all these photos on my phone taken at the end of the driveway & woods in pitch black. I had no clue of taking them until Storm told me he found me taking photos (with my companions) in the dark, at the end f the driveway. We walked back to the house & I went directly to bed. I also felt terrible the following day(s). My gosh, I know better, I've read the damage drinking does, I know what alcoholics struggle with, I've witnessed too many incidents that did not go well due to alcohol. Anyhow, cheers - I'm done! & absolutely thrilled to read many more - especially those opting for a healthier future - stopping alcohol. Venturing into the woods while intoxicated - not wise. Not for me - or my furry companions, so glad they always stick with me.
All good news if you ask me! More awareness all around - leading to healthier minds and bodies, what's not to love.
Time to paint! Below are some mini ocean lessons I did, I've never painted the ocean. Now, I know.
I use this HIMI set for all my lessons & Windsor newton for more time consuming paintings.
