Walkin' on the wild side. gouache on watercolour 9 x 12
Playing with backgrounds.. making sure they are very wet & then tilting the paper to see where the paint goes. Fun.
The white pen is new and I'm excited to try it on my painting on my desk - of Poppy, my tiny, furry love.
Yesterday we went for brunch with a few from the parish, one woman informed me they were going after to see some Robert Bateman (Canadian Icon) paintings after brunch. I love originals!
I like to get as close as possible to see the brushstrokes. I was not disappointed! This tiny museum in Minden has Robert Bateman paintings & prints as well as images from other family members, a gifted set of painters and photographers. My favourite was the goldfinch (below) but I was blown away with the difference 30 years made in his career. His first paintings of a local lake and area are loose, bold and 'fast'... to later have the detail & realism that most of us are familiar with was impressive - there's hope for me yet! heehee.
As we were leaving, I mentioned to Storm 'how great to see originals '- he agreed & said he gets to see them everyday, all the time. lol The museum is by donation and I encourage you to check it out, tiny, personal, hardly any visitors - it was a real treat! It's actually a tiny Pioneer village, we're going to check it out the next couple of weeks. If in the area, you should have a peek! Minden is tiny but has much room for growth, unlike Haliburton that seems quite packed, especially during tourist season, but they are both close enough to enjoy both!
Minden & Haliburton also have farmers markets.
Farmers markets: Minden is on Saturday, Haliburton is on Tuesday. Go for the Berries, honey, art.. beer, beef, music.. and more
I don't agree with activists destroying art to make a point. It's easy to 'destroy'... difficult to inspire.
We should all aspire to Inspire action.
Created to create - Robert Bateman inspired and continues to do so.
