You're Desssspicable! What's up Doc?.... & Of course you know... This means war.
acrylic on wooden blocks 5 x 5.
Every time I post about Warner brother cartoons, I tell you about my favourite cartoon- realizing - they are all my favourite! Yes, I know the lines of many characters and can't help but think about other specifics like Pete Pumas voice & hoe many lumps of sugar he want's in his tea. Or Kansas City Kitty who's tail is used for a skipping rope with the mice singing "Na Na Na Na Naaaaaaaaa... " These is inspired from 'Rabbit Seasoning' when Bugs tells Daffy "...there's no more Bwullets.." Only to discover when Daffy blows his scalp off - Yes, there was one more Bwullet in the chamber. Good Gun lesson. These chunky blocks add a fun pop in the studio and give me a chuckle.
Singing in the Rain, a favourite movie has a scene in it that's identical to Bugs Bunny from 'What's Up Doc?', I learned it was the film that copied the cartoon, not the other way around! I have a WB dvd collection with bonus footage that I still haven't watched, I also watch the cartoons with commentary for interesting facts. The DVD has Cartoons rarely seen including: Private SNAFU - a series of cartoons to teach the military how to behave & what NOT to to... some created by a young Dr. Seuss!
Chuck Jones was a square dancing fan! It's equally enjoyable to learn about the creators, to understand the problems, arguments & issues the artists faced from bosses to equipment, to political issues. It provides a new appreciation.
I learned recently, some backgrounds were painted by an artist: Johnny Johnson - who actually worked in OIL paints, knowing about the animation process I found this fascinating & stunning! There are times I don't look at the characters - instead I become absorbed with the background & its bold vibrant colours, red bushes, blue mountains orange trees.
There are no doubts in my mind where my love and appreciation of classical music also came from. I'm grateful for Cartoons, cartoonists & their creations.
Today, as well as a new Kermit painting, I'm designing a jean Mushroom shirt to wear.
Snows meting & mushrooms are the chickens are out of the coop!
Give Thanks!
