My friend Russ knows I like Justin Trudeau & he knows more than most that I REALLY liked his dad, so he sent me this book: Just Watch Me - Remembering Pierre Trudeau
I enjoyed the book mostly due to the images of Pierre Trudeau - ones I'd never seen, diving into a pool, joking with the queen, a big winking grin on the back cover, I was reminded of what a true rockstar he was - IF NOT for him I wonder where gay Rights would be or legal abortion in Canada. Pierre was ahead of his time - thankfully of us. My grandma loved him! I remember every time I visited - she was telling about Trudeau - his antics, his wife, his life & she loved every thing he said & did, including telling someone to 'Fuck off' and give 'the finger - he was the real deal.
Talk about SEXY, he was confident, powerful & funny - that's obvious - something tells me he was very playful as well - no wonder he was surrounded & loved by women of every sort/shape/color/class. I still look at his images and find myself playfully smiling back.
He was also admitted by many men.
I can't image being his wife - the pressure/duties/demands it must have been incredibly difficult at times. I was disappointed with the book- very little about the marriage and with a negative undertone (as if he actually KNEW what was happening behind closed doors- phhhhbt) for Maggie Trudeau (a smart ass photo of her -imo) as well as all the women in general- mere images to be seen at the end of a mans arm, rarely being seen for the intellectual individual women they were.
I'm sure it was very relevant in it's time - dropping names- but I count help get that 'Old, boy feel reading this book and was happy to put it down. Incredibly sexist and narrow minded when it comes to women in general - was it the times 70's & 8o's - perhaps...
I can't imagine the life Justin had... his father was intelligent, serious, driven - a brown belt, educated and a Canadian thru & thru - all great from the outside looking in but we all know life is not as it appears.
You know that terrific balancing pose Justin does- his dad did it too.
Like Father like Son.
Thankfully.
Justin Trudeau is running 2019 and winning again! I couldn't be happier, it was just a given already in my mind. AMEN I absolutely think he is the greatest Prime Minister since Trudeau!! LOL Only the new & improved version, one who also has learned to control his emotions better- but still not afraid to express them. I believe above all he is a wonderful father, compassionate teacher, proud Canadian, educated representative, dedicated husband.... He is a Rockstar in his own rights & I look forward to watching Canada continue to thrive with him representing US. Oh- and there is that little cannabis thing...
I've been distracted the past few days- with fall cleaning- lol..
