Thoth.. I've been interested in Thoth mostly because of his bird head & what an un-attractive bird he was... was because - once you stare into those powerful eyes -see the intensity & are aware that YES, birds are indeed very intelligent & affectionate ... He became a thing of majestic beauty by the time this painting was complete.
When painting subject If i can I enjoy listening & learning about "it" like watching OZ if painting Dorothy & it can be anything from the actual movie to a documentary on one of the actors - it keeps me in the 'ZEN of what ever I am working on - its easy to become distracted these days, listening to documentaries on Thoth as I paint the handsome Ibis was very interesting. I bounce between Gaia & Netflix mostly movies & documentaries recently 'binge watched on Netflix & HIGHLY recommend : A Users guide to Cheating Death.
I think the host is perfect & am pleased with what he has taught me ;) Mostly... hee hee.
That and 'Follow This.' 'Binge watch ? - I binge listen' while painting and only look up occasionally - we never stop learning.
What I feed my mind, soul & body every minute of every day is fuel & important...
This is a NO Trump Dump zone.. hee hee.
Learning about Thoth educated me on compassion for everyone- including myself.
This ugly bird man... that magnificent specimen of an Alien race & Egyptian God deserves our attention... you'll be amazed at what you learn.
I was humbled.. as usual. lol
You know, as awesome as inktober is some days (already) I'm kinda past the point of needing warm ups & it becomes a bit of a distraction - I wonder if I will complete, I'd rather just 'DIVE in'- to life & Gouache Paint when ready.
It's Thanks Giving weekend here in Canada! Lot's to do- leaves to look at! Table to decorate - art to paint, birds to feed - coffee with friends! Next: A painting to encourage:
Touching Oneself.
