Storm after warning. "Mom are you ready for this one?" read an article to me this morning this is it Please read it: * NOTE it's been changed
https://www.yorkregion.com/community-story/8139170-in-the-weed-york-region-catholic-students-talk-marijuana-with-experts/ I was shocked -after all the title
IN THE WEED: York Region Catholic students talk marijuana with experts.
EXPERTS? Who? Where? Because when you read the article - you don't read EXPERT opinions backed with facts- more like personal opinions from a Paid Police
I then read it again (incredibly disappointed) I don't even know where to begin...
York Region is where we live, Aurora is not far, my mom lives there. I was trying to think after reading the article have I ever had a bad experience with an officer. No, quite the opposite. When we first moved here there was a police officer - he looked like Richard Gere ('I like white hair, it makes men look - so .. distinguished, imo) every time I saw him - frequently - my street is great for catching stop sign runners- I'd yell 'Hi Richard!' ;) hee hee. We had a few conversations- he was told by several about his resemblance. I dated a york region police officer many moons ago... ;D I have some fond memories of wearing a police shirt. I'm no saint & no sinner - ;) Remember when I had to pee!? & was caught speeding- only 3 minutes from home so he followed home, waited - when I returned to his car (after I relieve myself in my 'own bathroom'- not a fan of public washrooms) he laughed and gave me a ticket- it was $2.00, I didn't realize it until I walked into he house. It was very funny.. Storm was in an accident one rainy morning after a foray and they were fantastic, beyond helpful- I was so happy he DID have a very positive experience with the police- for his first serious altercation' one police officer gave him his business card and told him to call him and not to worry. I was very grateful- the charge was dropped. So, I have no issues with police - I like them.
BUT... when read about a 'professional making expert remarks like:
'Doobies make Boobies ' I wanted to SCREAM! What a ignorant remark to make- PROVE IT.
Did they provide any material for the kids to take home to discuss with parents? Was there an actual LINK to the fact that it's proven Cannabis increases breast size- in boys or girls? How irresponsible? Any way for parents or kids to CHECK the facts the police officers shared with hem. Unless it is a documented, scientific fact it's no more than a Personal opinion by a paid professionals IN a police uniform.
Expert' advice.. & Does he not realize how many young ladies can't wait to get their breasts? I was one of them. Could a 'breast growth' in boys be related to the wide variety of JUNK food teens are famous for consuming at this age? Possibly!!?? IT is FEAR MONGERING UN- healthy & is 'misleading to kids- smart kids- who KNOW the truth so what does this TEACH them??:
LESS TRUST IN THE LOCAL POLICE
Would you TRUST someone you suspect is lying to you?
Storm and I laughed- really- at some of what we read. Who can't count backwards from 30 high? Oh my Gosh- This is NOT Like being DRUNK - which is worse. Oh about that FUCKING LINE - DID a Professional Police officer actually remark:
A: MACRAE: If you’re at home, and your parents serve you alcohol, it’s OK, but you won’t be able to do that with marijuana.
Wow.. I wonder if he knows any statistics on actual impaired driving and teens...
and the seriousness of alcohol related deaths, alcohol date rapes, alcohol abuse.. etc. but hey 'it's o.k. if your parents give you alcohol' - but not a joint WTF?
Was this EDUCATIONAL lesson on cannanbis recorded by anyone?
Please DO. ***STUDENTS*** take charge of your life, the last thing you need is a 'charge' for anything you do not deserve. You have the right -HUMAN right & the school is responsible for your education and should also make sure info provided is correct- it was so incorrect they CHANGED the story in the paper... I said to Storm - by the grace of God this a.m. I copied the entire story as soon as I read it so I could make notes and scribble on my print out I know what was removed and why... BULLSHIT.
This remark was changed: Why? Q: What’s more dangerous — driving under the influence of marijuana or alcohol?
A: COLE: Studies have shown half a joint is equivalent to seven alcoholic beverages. You will not be able to walk a straight line; you will not be able to touch your finger to your nose. It’s incredible how much marijuana — and all drugs — impact your ability to operate a motor vehicle.
1/2 a joint = 7 alcoholic beverages??
PROVE IT! If not- You should NOT be telling a room full of students such information!
This is WRONG... and it's NOT how this should start off.
This is not the USA- we DO not need to LIE or fear monger our children, Canada is one of the smartest countries & happiest in the world- please let's not start in this direction.
IF they have money to EDUCATE their officers- They should be expected to do it RIGHT, teach compassion and remind them Cannabis is LEGAL (very soon) It IS just a PLANT, kids need educating not misled, they would have been better at educating 'what to do in a a shooting' where kids actually DIE- no?
All good relationships are based on TRUST. It sounds like they if anyone makes this a 'FREE for all' - it will be the police from the direction of the 'Educational' talk.
Please demand an accurate, fact based education- or we are not doing our kids any favours.
