Ha Ha Ha - Ho Ho Ho.. tis the season! No, really..
I'm painting Christmas cards- a few get originals.. and then the list for cards
I might have left them too late this year, my printer is awesome so if i do, i do - if I don't, I don't. & while painting a Bee for my office for the new year, she has been buzzing around a canvas in my painting room for months I do a bit here & there.. it's starting to look almost finished.' When is a project finished.. I've see artists work and work and work through the same painting and occasionally I THINK to myself I think you're over working it"..
Over worked, over thinking, over stressed.. tis the season to become over tired.
BahHUMBUG kicks in.. Only when I read how OTHERS are falling into deeper debt. Canadians as a whole are getting deeper in the hole. How much should you spend?
Around 1 per cent of your gross annual income.
It sounds reasonable when you read the article. January 15th is the most depressing day of the year, when the bills start to arrive. IF you read this blog - you are aware of my HORROR with credit card experiences when I became ill and how I had mine paid off BY MasterCard for ABUSE. Verbal and mental abuse when I was already suffering after brain surgery- and more... I refuse to have a credit card now. YOU do NOT NEED ONE.
IF you need to buy something with a credit card- You take your money and go buy a PREPAID card, you can use it anywhere. The stress that comes with debt can leave a feeling of regret that build up over time.. especially as you go deeper in debt.
It's true, Kids don't always understand- they will one day.. but others who love you & truly care for you will understand if you can NOT afford to go into debt for a Christmas gift- and even if they DON'T - who cares- it's your debt! Don't do it.
There are presents under the tree already- it's Norm. Yes, we can afford gifts, we have no debt. Still, why buy - just to buy. It's a mind trap some get caught up in forever.
It is the first year- without ANY debt (finally) and some money to spend - some might celebrate with a big screen TV! Not me.. I'd like to keep it that way. NO debt.
Do I sleep better NOW.. debt free? You bet.
Do I worry about answering the phone anymore? No.
Do I dread the bills arriving in the mail- sure- lol, but never like before.
We 'NEED' nothing. Anything we really want- if we can afford it we buy, the gifts are items we usually get - slippers, some cloths and a few nicknacks that we probably have expressed interest in. I always express interest in paint, brushes and canvas. Hee Hee... This does not mean I don't "give" I've thought of my own way to give and with whom I choose to give.. NOT because 'I must because it's Christmas!" because I can & I want to based on love not a date on a calendar.
I do make a few Christmas cards! Mini original gifts. On my desk currently -Dogs dashing through the snow. Guess what kind? Elephants in hats, kitties with flowers on their heads.. Bluejays in holly wreaths (you'll see these eventually) and bears in sweaters & mitts.
I'm also thinking of a remark someone made on IG about "Sluts".
It's got me thinking about the word 'Slut'. It was implied a woman (Melania - Don's wife) was NOT' being a slut for "flaunting her body".. a remark by a man.
Well, 'No shit' - i thought when I read it. A woman is NEVER a slut for simply 'flaunting her body '- only to others in their tiny minds. The gentleman was actually saying 'it's never o.k. to slut shame'- I didn't realize it was slut shaming (someone else's post) until he brought it up, so HE in fact did the 'slut shaming' by his remark, no?
Anyhow - it hit a nerve.. I've decided to draw about it, a little cheeky Holiday Cheer for all my 'Slut girlfriends.. past & present. Just in time for all the holiday OFFICE parties!
I'm sure many women will be called 'sluts' at such events - ho ho ho.. here we go.
Tis the season to be Jolly fa la la la la.. la la la la.
