I believe in the power of prayer. Prayer changes things.
Today churches across the globe are asking for a world day of prayer & fasting - Pray for Peace.
I pray often, the rosary, usually nightly as it's a lovely way to end my day & it calms the sole.. a form of meditation.
People pray in many ways - if for God, it's all good. I've had an idea for a few weeks for a 'rosary holder '- as I often misplace it or it end up in my bed somewhere & gets tanged and often breaks. I need to invest in one with cord' so I don't have to ask someone to fix mine constantly as my fingers struggle with such tasks. I was looking at a shelf I've had a long time (I have 2), came across a red crystal tear drop I have had forever - it's glass, I have no idea where I got it, then I had an idea to paint Mary for my bedroom, attached to the shelf to hold my rosary. I've given Mary her first coat & can't wait to continue today.
I have several rosaries, one a gift from a long time friend Kat, from her trip to Europe, it glass blue beads & has tiny medals of all the Mysteries of the Rosary which we are to ponder while praying. Another is red and clear glass beads, my online friend from California 'Rosemary, made for me a decade ago, she has since passed from cancer. I have one that belonged to my grandma - each bead is crystal and has delicate will holders on each, it's broken but I'll have Storm fix it and also put it on my display. There's something very special knowing my grandma held, prayed and loved the same beads I now pray over. Lastly, one that I use often, (also just broken - I often fall asleep with it wrapped around my hand) is wooden beads and has a relic on the back of the crucifix, I purchased it myself thinking it would not break - my next will have cord -- capable for 'powerful praying. heehee Praying for peace requires some powerful prayers.
As I paint 'Hail Mary', I'll be painting and praying & pondering. I have no side to choose in any war, which I am ignorant about living conditions/situations.. & unless IN it , it is impossible to know. There is only death, pain, suffering and loss of innocent lives on all sides, destruction and $$$ issues (as usual). When we are told to love our neighbour over & over in the bible - it simply means LOVE each other, near & far.. Love. So today, I fast, pray & paint for peace.
I also had a revelation moment - what am I doing painting 'Halloween?' I'm done. It is important (to me) to paint what I believe is important, helping each other, &: Teach Only Love - as that is what we are. Light a candle and say a prayer for peace- even if you don't pray - it won't hurt. I read a quote that said : If the only time you pray is when you are in trouble... you're in trouble. I love prayer - communication with God. Prayer changes things - I KNOW. I will never forget the day I fell to my knees in tears, head spinning... we had just been given a horrible diagnoses from Sick Kids that had very grim "future", we were told our son would probably be dead by 12. I begged God to make it different - to not come true what Dr.s said - & it has! So I will not go back on my word as I am forever grateful, my relationship with God has grown faithfully ever since. I'm pleased it's become habit for me to pray, talk & walk with God - it has me where I am today, in the comfort of his wings, knowing : Thy will be done.
Amen.
Below my rosaries & a sneak peek of 'Hail Mary' - she's looking a little blue at this stage - you would too if your son had been crucified for spreading LOVE. I can't wait to paint!
