Campfire creations gouache on black.
The fire ban has been lifted - I guess due to all the rain & I think it's great for all those on vacation, camping especially. What's a visit to the cottage without sitting around the campfire? Many jokes, songs and stories have been shared while watching embers glow. Evenings spent outside are also more enjoyable with a fire pit or chimney burning- as it helps deter mosquitos. Yesterdays rain was fast & furious - yet very relaxing, I love rain, I find it as peaceful as a calm lake.
Watching a fire has the same effect as it's sparks dance floating up into the air.
A campfire is also an enjoyable way to prepare a meal - especially on vacation, I prefer it over a BBQ. It's amazing how many creative campfire recipes there are on Pinterest, most prepared at home ready to toss on the fire & don't forget the banana boats with chocolate & marshmallows. Speaking of marshmallows... we tried the recipe where you add a box of banana pudding to the melted marshmallows, you know those marshmallows banana candies you can get - shaped like bananas, it tastes just like that. I also tried adding a box of blueberry jello, just as tasty but a little too sweet for my preference. With the recent & ongoing fires in Canada, I hope it's caused a new awareness and people will take more care with campfires.
The smell of pine this morning was incredible! Ah, if only I could hug every tree to say: Thank you!
Instead I thank them as I glance around the forest & pray they communicate it to each other (as they are said to do)... where would we be without trees? Time spent amongst the trees is proven to be good for us.
We went into town yesterday & tried the restaurant 'Hook, Line & Sinker' in Haliburton, the food was delicious, the service terrific (it was busy) and the outdoor patio was a perfect spot to enjoy lunch with a lovely breeze before the rain started! We will visiting again, there's several places up here that have great food & service... when you grow tired of the campfire cookouts. :)
