Breathe deep. 8 x 10 acrylic on canvas
What a lovely day it is! Up before the birds, breakfast for everyone and painting by 6:30 a.m. I drew it while watching TV to try out the new black canvas - I was pleased, it took pencil & paint well. The smell is incredible and you can smell the lilac walking down the driveway or almost anywhere in the garden, depending on the breeze. I love lilac. tiny delicate bundles of sweetness with each bud. This year I'm making lilac sugar -pick lilacs, pat dry (do not wash) put some sugar in a jar, layer of lilac, sugar, lilac -repeat. In a few months you'll have lilac flavoured sugar and pretty dried EDIBLE flowers to add to cakes, cupcakes or even shortbread. I'll make the sugar after I make the ramp butter -todays - to do.
Yesterday Storm suggested a trip to Bracebridge to run some errands, I needed a super light backpack to walk Arrow and wanted to just have a 'retail walk', I picked ups few things like black canvas! We arrived in Bracebridge not 3 minutes when a warning came over the phone - Tornado warning in Bracebridge! lol. We went from beautiful morning to hail, POURing rain, winds and low visibility in seconds. Luckily, no tornado. We had a great adventure as always, Bracebridge is a straight drive from & to my place, a lovely relaxing twisting drive. What a journey life is, a tornado in seconds can cause so much damage - come and gone- just like that! It added a bit of excitement that's for sure. Storm had to deliver a bag of straw inoculated with spawn to a woman that worked at the Hospital so big they brought out a wheelchair to carry it in, it was amusing (we giggled but didn't think to take a photo -duh) & she was thrilled & excited for future mushrooms. We're having wine caps with dinner - picked fresh out of the garden.
I was told by my Dr. to lose weight lol.. yes, I did put on a couple of pounds this winter... I'm an 'old school fattening cook'...
no more, cheese mashed potatoes, breaded chicken, home made chocolate chip deluxe, chips... so, today I'm researching Mediterranean diet & walking Arrow. it should be easier not caring stuff like water & phone in my hands. Below is a cool photo of the rain while trying to drive. If in Carnarvon by the way - a new food trailer has opened and OMGoodness it's tasty (sigh as I think diet). The burgers & fries are delicious and the funnel cake - YUM! No more for me for a bit - I tell you I woke the next day thinking 'I could devour one of those funnel cakes' The food is really good - The Mason Jar' - I told Storm "I can walk for funnel cake and sloth back - hahahaha, listen, this hill Im on -is a work out in itself, I have a new admiration for the kids who live up it -walking it from the school bus ever day, I had to rest twice... Arrow helped pull me up. Have a creative day - Enjoy the journey... stay away from Tornados.
