Painting Daily keeps me happiest, really.. I get grumpy when I can't paint or go too long between paintings (3 days is too long) but painting does much more. Do you ever think 'I wish I could paint..' well there's NO EXCUSE not to. YouTube offers countless lessons for all levels! There are several online sites offering lessons as well: Domestica & Craftsy are two I've used. Most classes on Domestic are under $7. (cheaper than a decent bottle of wine) and teach everything from what supplies you need, how to mix colours with step by step instructions to create a project.
Creating daily has been one of the most rewarding achievements on several levels - namely becoming a better artist.
Painting daily helps me focus on art & enjoyment instead of chronic pain, daily events, global warming... issues that can be 'depressing to say the least. Who's tired of war mongering? Tax hike news, Corrupt humans being exposed & the fact Canadians getting fed up with high prices.. Me, I'm tired of it- better togo paint! Give your mind heart & soul a break and show yourself some creative love.
Painting in old age can offer numerous benefits, including:
-Creativity and Self-Expression: Painting allows everyone (especially seniors) to express themselves creatively, explore new ideas, and communicate emotions through art, fostering a sense of fulfillment and self-discovery.
-Stress Relief: Engaging in painting can be a therapeutic activity that helps reduce stress, anxiety, and feelings of isolation, promoting mental well-being and relaxation.
-Cognitive Stimulation: Painting stimulates the brain, enhancing cognitive functions such as memory, concentration, and problem-solving skills, which can be beneficial for seniors in maintaining mental sharpness.
-Fine Motor Skills: Painting involves intricate hand movements and coordination, which can help seniors improve their fine motor skills and dexterity, contributing to better hand-eye coordination and muscle strength.
-Social Connection: Painting can be a social activity that promotes interaction and camaraderie among seniors, fostering a sense of community and providing opportunities for social engagement and networking.
-Sense of Accomplishment: Completing a painting can provide a sense of achievement and boost self-confidence, encouraging seniors to set and achieve artistic goals, no matter their age. I get this feeling daily! I might not put my laundry away do the dishes but I feel accomplished regardless. Heeheehee.
So - paint! Learn something new- it's never too late' as long as you wake up another day (Thank God) it's a day to discover.
Happy Mothers Day! A day of no cooking for me - yay! A day to play in the garden & paint something beautiful... and of course - Ball kicking! Thankful for every day - especially being a mom & for still having a mom - double bonus.
