Thinking about Chimps and drugs... we are not so far from our ape ansestors after all.
This pondering primate is covering all the bases.. thinking about the different drugs available to all us modern monkies.
Why do we have drug addicts and alcoholics? Over abundance? Over use?
Mental health issues is the conclusion I've come to - it's not the chemicals (molecular structures) it's the monkey in all of us that struggles at times with addiction & life. This week I felt addicted to peanut butter- I ate a whole jar (Kraft smooth) - off a spoon in a couple of days, my body was craving it. Winter fat needed for these chilly days - is what my body is telling me.
I craved a 'glass of fine wine' for a couple of hours - but didn't bother to get in the truck & drive to the corner for a bottle. There is an 'Drinking mentality' up here, it's somewhat shocking and aggravating to witness & hear -on the radio station Canoe (which I love), I've never heard so many 'Drunk/drinking' relates songs - some funny - some NOT so funny because they are too true with the lyrics & the drunken disabling mind set - it's still 'celebrated'. What will it take? More death.
Until of course with education & they understand dementia & other brain related illness with relationship to alcohol... hmmmm.
I'll pass on that wine - just fine. Crave a drink? Until you read about the impaired drivers that caused an accident or worse - take a life - due to the alcohol levels in their bodies.
I could smoke cannabis all day, every moment - if I wanted - I don't want. I want to be busy, paint - explore, bird watch play with my girls and interact with others - not high on drugs but on life.
It is each individual monkey that must decide. Be a wise ape - read.
What will you choose to stimulate the senses today?
Be good to your body - you only have one.
