Mickeys Mushrooms!
Not Bugs Bunny today & I still have not finished the other side of Chilly Willy ’, I became distracted by my round canvas. I felt like a little Mickey! Acrylic on board. With a little Fantasia inspiration just for fun. I love Mickey - classic Mickey cartoons are right up there with WB, Mickey & Pluto are just one of my favourite "teams".
I’m trying to inspire by keeping creative and painting because frankly, it’s easy to become bombarded & get caught up these days with negative, especially if you watch the news. Parade shootings, classroom shootings, abortion abolished, people using Jesus to defend hurtful actions, deadly heatwaves, worldwide protests, water shortages…. Frig. I’m not without my own issues & problems, like everyone else, it’s not always sunshine & painting here but I've learned the quicker you get back to what you love doing - the quicker you have peace. There was a strange woman the other day at the end of the driveway, with no regard for my dogs or privacy, wanting to know (after I had to walk down to hear what she was yelling through her mask, over the dogs barking) if my house was the ‘old school house’, when I replied “No”. She then said “Are you sure?”.
I simply turned and walked away. What if it was? Was I to drop everything & give a stranger & her husband who sat in the vehicle, a tour? What if my dog bit her as she stood yelling at my gate. Would it have been my dogs fault, protecting her owner & property? I don’t understand the thoughtless & careless disregard of some people. I get why people get tired with tourists lack of consideration up here in 'cottage country'. I was forced to put up a ‘NO trespassing’ sign after several people were trespassing, walking down the driveway past a locked gate, parking at the end of my driveway at night. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out; if there is a ‘no trespassing & ‘private sign & locked gate - keep out.
Back home & into my studio to continue painting, I force myself daily to focus on what I know brings me joy rather than sit and stew about issues/humans I have no control over. I could have been a little more patient but why, obviously they had no regard for me. I was concerned for the welfare of my dogs & not being run over more so than rude strangers, yelling at the gate. Thankfully, I have reading to do, canvas, paint & dogs, ducks and inspiration with lots of imagination to keep me creative & out of other peoples business. Thank God.
The next canvas on my desk Kermit - inspired by Vincent.
It’s a lovely cool day to paint & explore with the dogs!
