Painting in the sunlight with golden gouache is mesmerizing… as if the paint is dancing across the paper. It has me contemplating a golden painting, perhaps a completely gold background, just so I can relax and watch paint dry. A perfect way to spend a sunshine filled day, imo. This chimp is looking a little wild eyed I might have given is hair more of a pop! Next time. Poppy is ready for another portrait with a gold background.
Recently, I watched an animated movie I’ve not seen before & want to recommend it. The Wild - one of my new favourite Disney films for several reasons. The Canadian references had me giggling throughout, especially the Canadian Geese. I can’t ever recall seeing a Disney film with so much Canadian influence, it was created in 2006. Directed by Sheridan College animation royalty - Steve ‘Spaz’ Williams. Now, I understand the Canadian touch & humour created by several very talented Canadians! You might miss some of the jokes - if not Canadian, it left me wishing a completely Canadian version would be created, one with bears, moose, monarchs, beavers and Canadian geese. In a summer setting preferably, I’m not a huge fan of ‘winter movies’ in particular and have a tendency to watch them in the summer - not when hip deep in snow.
If you have not watched it, I suggest you do. I can’t believe I missed it, perhaps I’ve missed a few and plan on doing a little searching to see what else is available. Animations has come a long way since the days of Steam Boat Willie, I usually enjoy watching animated movies at least twice - once for the movie & story and the second just for the appreciation of animation & creative process. This one did not disappoint in any way.
Time to enjoy this beautiful November sunshine & ponder Poppy’s portrait with a golden touch.
Have a creating day!
