Jesus wandering & pondering. 8 x 8 gouache on black
Georgia, on my mind…
I heard Michelle Obama remark, she hated her husband for 10 years and that’s how it is quite often, for people married 30 years. Yep. I’d be a liar if I said it was all bliss, far from it - that is where ‘we are at’. Most days I doubt we will remain together another week, let alone year. I am tired & he knows it.
A friend shared: I’m tired of being yelled at.
I think: I'm tired of yelling! & considered adding - if tired of being yelled at, stop being an asshole. Usually I yell about things that have actually kept Norm alive & healthy! He sees this as ‘nagging’. I don’t care anymore, I’ve been pushed to the brink. I’d rather remain silent that deal with bullshit & yelling - we can easily go weeks without speaking. I consider (daily) going it alone instead of putting up with CONSTANT crap. A perfect example & I share to educate what I KNOW, it’s like for many… A few lessons have been recently learned- the hard way, for Norm.
For 3 decades I have argued with Norm who works with tools daily, DO not drink alcohol on the job (he does not), focus on your work when at work & wear the necessary safety equipment. Which I know he owns, I made sure. Yesterday, Norm texted from ER in Minden - got a chunk of wood in my eye.. I’ll be late. There you go… something I’ve been literally yelling about for years & when he finally got home I yelled again: You almost lost your fucking eye!!! It looked painful & he took out a chunk of cornea so, I didn’t yell too long. I don’t care, I can’t care. I’ve cared for 30 years and all it has done is created a wider divide & caused me unnecessary added stress & made me ill. No, I do not have sympathy for him, I’ve yelled, begged, reasoned and - to him - I know nothing. For someone who knows nothing, here I am proved right, again. I bet that stings’ more that the chunk of wood did. I’m tired of stressing and yelling to someone who refuses to listen.
But, I think it’s also a sign' to mention something else…
At service on Sunday I was made aware of a petition to keep the Minden ER open as they are closing it. You can sign the petition at Canoe Radio station. This makes no sense at all, closing it apparently from lack of nurses.. hmmmmmm. All those nurses, fired because they refused to be vaccinated are sure missed now. But moving it to Haliburton - Norm waited in the ER hours just to be seen, he didn’t get home until after 8p.m and told me he went after lunch. Can you imagine how much longer one will have to wait if this ER is closed, how much more over worked Haliburton ER doctors & nurses will become? & let’s not forget tourist season. Everyone, not just Minden should be trying to address this closure - everyone who visits cottage country for fun and games from all over the world let alone the province - shit happens, & when it does, your options to have it addressed quickly are becoming smaller... life threatening.
Long ago, I had to take/drive 2 drunks (whom I loved) to ER in Huntsville to be stitched up for stupidity. The Dr and I had a serious conversation regarding how often this happens and people have no clue what their recklessness and lack of education are doing to Emergency rooms. Many who visit during the summer were just having fun (usually alcohol is involved) ending in accidents, even death. I get it! Drinking and the cottage life, go hand in hand. Been there done that. So - to close it, all those who are unfortunate enough to have an emergency are screwed - longer drive & waits to be expected.
Never mind tourists adding to the situation, the majority of people up here full time are retired, elderly who NEED medical care more frequently, emergencies, heart attacks, falls.. Is this so forced private care will be necessary, costing $$$ to individuals? Individuals who worked hard their entire lives to create such a community, now expected to go elsewhere when they need help the most? I do think they should protest, in their walkers & wheelchairs, water wings and bathing suits! Get the attention it deserves - their lives, our lives, tourist lives - depend on it.
I'm not confident -signing a petition, will make any difference.
On a positive note, (lol) it has provided me with the excuse to remind Norm:
Matthew 7:3-5
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Let’s end with this song, sing it with me….
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone?
They paved paradise, put up a parking lot.
