Follow me. Gouache on watercolour 9 x 12
Watching 'The Chosen (on DVD) I love when Jesus asks someone to "Follow me." it's not really a question as much as a statement. Most do, some don't. That's just how it is. Some will & some won't. A choice since: In the beginning...
I was thinking of Jesus wandering the wilderness and all who would follow him. :). I sketched the idea and for enjoyment decided to paint it on this rainy grey day. I'm not complaining, especially reading about the heatwave most of the world is enduring. This past week I've thought several times, there's a chill in the air, it feels almost like fall. Albeit, August will still offer a few scorchers, as usual.
The Chosen brings me to tears, always at the same spots even though I have seen it before. Season 2 - Matthew 4:24, Jesus starts to become known and many come to be healed, while a petty argument is happening at the campsite and the apostles are bickering, Jesus is finished a day of healing and walks past hardly having enough energy to even acknowledge them. Exhausted, sweating, worn down.. as if he took everyones pain upon himself, as he walks by and they notice him, they are humbled. Hi mother Mary helps him to bed and he thanks her. For some reason it really hits me with emotion.
This show was so well thought out, I'm blowbacks away at times. It reminded me of all the petty arguing that we do, me included. I'm having trouble watching anything on Netflix, series drag on, the same things are repeated over and over -just to kill time. Killing time is exactly what it is, I'd rather paint (listening to audio books) read or watch something that inspires - visually & mentally.
Even sitting looking at leaves is more beneficial I believe than watching ' crap' - once seen can not be unseen.
That being said - am I looking forward to Barbie? Yes, & Oppenheimer, who I am familiar with for his statement - realizing the destruction he might be responsible for. Sooner or later someone events everything, but that's a huge burden to live with. I had my share of Barbie growing up, it appears like it's created in typical Barbie fashion well and I'm curious to see'.
I don't follow many series but I am awaiting the new The Chosen (season 4) and I follow Jesus, with or without the series - but it sure has given me a new perspective of life during the time the Word of God was created.
Follow me.
