Dance Pawty in the Pumpkin Patch! 8 x 8 gouache on black
Two of the best dogs! Snoppy & Zero dancing in the great pumpkin patch.. waiting for the Great Pumpkin to appear.
These are my two top Halloween specials -both classics now, I remember anxiously waiting every year for The Charlie Brown special at Halloween, you could only see it that time of the year & once (twice if lucky) what a difference compared to now, I do have it on DVD so I watch it usually this time of year. Classic animation can't be beat, the newer attempts seem to take it over the top, just like most Halloween movies now. It's relaxing drawing the roundness of peanuts - Charles was onto something, clearly - as we are still watching decades later. Pumpkins/Jack-O-Lanterns have the same effect, round bold and orange. The chickens get a pumpkin or two, it's amusing watching them peck out the face or seeing them with their head stuck inside.
I discovered today , Poppy doesn't seem too thrilled to jump through the leaves. I guess because it's more of a workout for those tiny legs... the dogs know snow is around the corner & seem to be relaxing, we are much less active once snow arrives, it's why we try to get out and exploring a few times a day. The grey skies with the orange & yellow leaves - add the sudden appearance of a blue jay - POP! Colour overload - It is magnificent. By the way - I found this years mushroom (personal challenge) a blue blood' mushroom, I don't know the fancy/offical name. When it was found on the path it was old and faded, we only discovered it was blue because one of the dogs knocked it over & I could see the sap (?) and gills which are blue, I also found a bluejay feather on the same adventure - doubly treasures!
This weekend will be lovely up here! The leaves will start to fall soon after, so if you want to see & do all things fall - Haliburton & Minden are not that far of a drive from Toronto. Pumpkin spice is in the air!
