Happy Saturday! This piece is only one sided.. it hangs in the kitchen & it amuses me.
There are two (possibly 3) cartoons very similar, one I believe is called Rabbit Seasoning' & Rabbit Fire'. This is inspired from Rabbit Fire. One of the best play on words by Bugs and Daffy & example of 'team work' as they play mind games with Elmer, during hunting season. Acrylic on wood.
I'd like to thank the universe for sending me to 2 wonderful dentists! I lost a tooth last summer & didn't bother to replace it because I didn't have anywhere to go - it was a lesson on several levels. I was face timing a friend and I could see he noticed it but was wise enough not to say anything.. it makes me giggle just to think about it, but Storm was forever reminding me (as our kids often do) so I decided to have it replaced. Being a cartoonist - it made me laugh, every time I looked in the mirror & yes, some people (strangers) treat you different. I think, some think if you're missing teeth it effects your intelligence - phhhbt. That being said - in cartooning we do omit teeth to give the appearance a goofy character - so, I got it. Both dentists asked me how long I went without... “over a year..” & both remarked most people get it replaced right away, out of insecurity to venture out in public - my reply was: I don't give a fuck what people think of me, if anyone is judging me simply because I'm missing a tooth- I don't want those shallow people around me.
If anyone thinks someone is a fool’ over a missing tooth - then that gives the toothless person the upper hand & makes the one judging the fool. I once had a friend comment on a woman who was missing a tooth & 'why didn’t she get it replaced?' Well, let me tell you why - this tooth would cost some a months rent & I went for the more affordable option - not because it was cheaper but less intrusive. The thought of putting in a metal implant literally brought me to tears in the dentists chair & even a Bridge was more work than I thought and with the sensitivity I already have - fuck that.
I’m so grateful my dentist @ Dentistry in the Highlands was compassionate, patient & understanding & really helped by calming me, explaining & suggesting what he thought I should do. I did.
When the other Denturist ‘Steve' put in my new tooth - I giggled with delight! I initially had my first appointment on January the 10th, but I chickened out! So, finally... It had been so long - I forgot what I looked like with all my teeth. I was very pleased I did replace it but it also made me understand why many go toothless - $$$. It is ABSOLUTELY a mental health issue (Justin Trudeau) & our government should be paying for our dental problems - for those who must be seen & can’t afford it- it would be difficult mentally. I suggest many address this, now - before you loose a tooth or have problems.
I went to ‘Jug City’ (tee hee) and was asked for I.D. which made me laugh as it always does.. (I like the family who run Jug City) only this time - I didn’t cover my mouth - no mask, no hand - just a big happy smile.
Give thanks for kind dentists helping us smile bigger & brighter.
Thank you God, for me being able to afford it without stressing & putting these two on my path.
Back to Yoda on his foray painting - almost done!
Created to create.
