Norm told me "a big racoon had tipped the compost over - Go check out the tracks!" I went out to the truck, took one look and thought: That ain't no fucking racccoon! Kowabunga! They were BIG bear feet- as big as mine & I was excited and amused as I followed the feet around the truck.. wow. I shared my find on Instagram all giddy - A bear! We had a visitor... I went in, grabbed a coffee, went into my studio & looked out the window - YIKES! That bear was ON my bird deck outside my bedroom window!
I have the crime scene evidence in pawprints, I gotta say my glee went from 'weee - to- Fuck! That was close!! Then, I felt bad as Ginger was growling and barking at 2 and I smacked her bum, she barks when she hears the wolves howl, duck quack so I've been trying to discourage it - she was not going to stop the other night & I know why - her barking probably chased the bear off the deck. It is a new reality that we must be mindful when outside in our surroundings - especially for the girls & I won't be venturing into our woods as carelessly as I have been, that being said it's almost mushroom season & I am anxious to get out & explore!! Bears are hungry- they are just awake.. they have been in isolation- I wonder after reading about rats in Toronto - venturing out due to less food... if Bears will be a bigger problem with people NOT visiting the dump as often or leaving lingering garbage.
It's also made me re-think letting guests stay in tents. Any one interested? hahaha
WE are so busy- everyday we make some improvement to our home in some way. This pandemic has forced us to slow down.. The house needs a new floor but I want to SEE & feel samples- it's a big investment, so far I'm thinking cork. I love the look.. I also like Hemlock. While we wait there's more than enough to do on the property from planning our gardens to
building a pond for Fred & Wilma... who is Fred & Wilma you are asking yourself?
DUCKS! I've got wild ducks - A stunning mallard set have been visiting us daily so we put in a tiny pond yesterday and the two of us are giggling this morning because Fred & Wilma arrived for breakfast - walked over to the pond and took a dip! HeeHee! & it's a tiny pond- NOW we will build a bigger one for Fred & Wilma. Bears & ducks - what a wonderful week.
Painting- I've not stopped- as a matter of fact I painted a mural in my bedroom - on my pocket doors! It turned out better than anticipated & I suddenly find myself wanting to relax more in my room - with the doors closed. lol I'm already trying to decided what to paint on the opposite side. This 'staying home' - is a gift from God... I hope all see it this way.
Changes will be made - for our elderly care in particular. It's overwhelming to think of everyone who has died in Canada, aking up stuffed up wondering if your sick.. nope.
KEEP busy! Paint. Bake. Read.
Turn off and GO create - YOU were created to create - NOT watch TV.
back to bears, murals & smoking chimps for 4/20... a gift for Storm ;D
