Talking to God…
I talk to God, all the time. I ask for forgiveness for losing my temper, I pray for understanding, I ask for wisdom… and I listen when God speaks to me. God has spoken to me countless times, sometimes very serious but mostly with love which reminds me & makes me aware of the beauty surrounding us. I know I’m not the only one God speaks to….
I’m sure some roll their eyes when I say ‘God speaks to me’ - so be it.. roll them eyes, I am beyond caring what anyone ‘thinks’ about my relationship with God - I’m good with God. A powerful faith that continues to GROW & I am grateful for it. My son sent me a clip on social media Steve Harvey a comedian who said God spoke to him too, the same way I hear.. not in out loud words, no long drawn out conversation - more or less a “Get up and I will help you”. Then, another sign’ - the same morning... I am continually inspired by Jordan Peterson, so when I opened my podcasts I noticed his daughter Mikhaila Petersons podcast on a cartoonist- I decided to listen… During this podcast Mikhaila mentions reading the bible & it helping her & God speaking to her, the same way I hear God. I would never criticize anyone who states 'God speaks to them or they speak to God' - I understand, sometimes God is all we have.
I’ve no doubts God speaks to everyone - are you listening or dismissing? God speaks to me most when I am lost in creation, into painting & positive energy… allowing me to ponder, forgive and keep going, have hope. Painting my bible & loving it, I never know what I’ll be painting as I’m reading, and must turn back to paint - I then re-read and then paint - thinking about what I read and understanding the word of God is speaking to me, teaching me. I understand why many don’t want to read the bible - rules, lots of them, some I have broken - unaware, luckily, I know I’ve been forgiven. It fascinates me - Love, lust, murder, vengeance, strength, faith - hope & LOVE. Above all else - LOVE.
Even rules what animals we can consume & what we should not including creatures of the sea… only eat what has fins & scales - this means no more calamari for me. I don’t know anyone who has probably not broken a few the rules but I KNOW that’s between them & God. Read it or don’t. Believe it or don’t. Have faith or don’t… the choice is ours.
I was feeling sorry for myself, lying in bed one morning and I got: ‘GET UP & go create!’
It was so ‘demanding’, powerful & slightly frightening - I jumped out of bed and apologized. I painted - all day, thankful for paint & canvas & living here - where God put me amongst all this beauty & trees, fungi, bug & bees!
Grateful for the signs’ & the reminders but I don’t need them... God speaks to me because I speak to God, daily!
Time to go listen to God & Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah!
I don't have to say "May God bless you!" - It's already happening!
