2020 has been the best year.. ever.
Holy Cow! - No... holy goat!! WE have a baby!! lol introducing:
NUGGET! Borm October 17, 2020
I don’t know if Indica is the father… his nuts fell off in the pen - it must have happened days before I got the goats - 2 for the price of one - who knew! YAY!
I woke thinking of babies but I assumed it was because I have a cousin ready to pop - I thought today was the day (apparently it is - no news yet) but it was our own baby that arrived - well Sativa’s!
Yesterday I asked Norm - Did you feed the goats!? They were noisy & got noisier - until Sativa was screaming and lying down- “GO see if she is o.k.! “ I yelled - we’ve not seen her behave this way before & we thought she was bloated- as it’s normal for goats. Nope.. we arrived JUST IN TIME to watch the head pop out! OH my!! I panicked- what do we do? Do we pull? lol
I did not expect babies and have NOT googled… I am today.
Norm stayed with her in the goat barn and called me when Nugget slid out (I was on google)!
It was AWESOME! We are so happy - we feel like grandparents. I called Norm papaaaaaaaaaaa… this a.m. hee hee It’s all went as nature planned - perfect- the baby - Nugget is drinking milk and exploring the hay in the barn - what a miracle to witness.. out , cleaned and standing up in the first 2 hours.. today walking. Mind blown.
By the grace of God.
I didn’t plan on a baby even though I know you needed one to get milk! Goat milk is apparently terrific for cheese & soap too. lol Right now we’ll let baby have it. So I guess I will have a milking goat. Norm will learn how to milk (laughing out loud as I type). Our day took a detour and now we are adding more shavings to the pen and making a little area for the baby to go underneath to be protected. Indica is very curious and was very worried about Sativa yesterday.. he seems better today. He was NOT happy to sleep with the chickens - they were not pleased either.
I feel quite emotional & grateful - I was struggling with stuff this past week… this little creature ‘realigned’ what’s important rather quickly, here.
Yes, today I held a baby goat!! it weighed abut 2 lbs. & was the cutest thing I ever held!
I can’t believe I have a baby goat. I’m making it a sweater. ;)
Time to google and celebrate our gift: Nugget.
Time to paint it’s name sign!
I hope it’s a girl - I am keeping it!
The barn will fit 3 goats easily - if it’s a boy we’ll get it fixed.
lol dreams come true.
