Planting seeds of kindness. 8 x 8 gouache on black
Pooh & Piglet planting seeds of kindness to grow a forest of LOVE. Created to create. What seeds are you planting? The Tin man LOVE tree gouache on black. 8 x 8.
True. This work was inspired by original illustrations from The Wizard of Oz, book. He is a simpler, sweeter tin man. I've been researching original works that have inspired feature films, especially Disney Movies. Created to Create. I told the stars about you. Gouache on watercolour 8 x 8
I told the stars about you... the moon too. We are either searching for love, in love, or recovering from love gone wrong... there is no escaping it, as long as we live. Each encounter of Love is a blessing. If we are open to the universe, life will provide endless opportunities to experience all sorts of Love. Have Faith. The greatest Love: Love yourself, as I love you. ~ Jesus. It was a rare moment - all my girls were in the photo frame & all looking at me -it helped to be holding homemade dog cookies behind the camera. Snap! yay... I love these girls - everyone is completely different in size, breed, size & personality. I decided to paint it because every time I look at the photo, I smile... As I was painting, Poppy came to visit. I'm not sure she was visiting as much as telling me the stove needed another log - or two.
Poppy is the perfect little heat monitor, if it gets too cool she lets me know, usually I'm distracted with painting! The girls are struggling with cabin fever- especially on the lovely sunny days that are cold once you step outside. Ducks like winter it seems, they like to nap in the snow. Below is my new favourite painting, it did not take long - it was sketched and painted within a few hours. It wasn't about being perfect as much as I was enjoying thinking of each personality when painting. - the burst pink - just because.. a pop of fun. Ginger so intent on a treat as if she'll stave if not sustained.. lol Got dogs? Show them the love they deserve, lean how to draw your pet. Paint their portrait. LOVE is a dog. I can go without chocolates for valentines, no flowers or diamonds - give me dogs! Woman's best friend(s). I believe dogs are the best mental health medicine you can have. Endless Love, snuggles, friendship and companionship.. ball catchers, squirrel chasers & helpers - in many ways. With a little love and care- you have a friend for many years - if you are lucky. Love is a dog or two, three, four... maybe 5.... 6. Dumbo next - I was delayed due to a technical difficulty. Guilty! Acrylic on wood 6 inches. Opposite side says "the Old Ball & Chain"
Cartoon: The Super Snooper. Daffy Duck 1952 Saturday morning! There's lot's of love in Warner Brother cartoons. I find this one cartoon in particular, very cute & funny. Daffy is a detective - investigating a crime - at the wrong house. The female duck is thrilled with him and finds him very cute. I especially love how every time he gets close enough, she can't resist kissing him and he is oblivious. He keeps going on, explaining how he knows she is guilty, seeming to take little notice of her admiration. Ever wonder where 'Jessica Rabbit' was inspired from - Look at her. She even behaves the same. Ton's of puns. Just looking at her very seductive & sexy' appearance - Daffy suggests - "she's guilty.." Later when he realizes his error and exclaims. "..you're not guilty?" She states, she is guilty! ...Guilty, for being crazy about Daffy. In this case (amazing enough), it appears to be yet another case of unrequited love. There is also a few gun references that are humorous, like when Daffy takes her "hand gun" out of her tiny clutch purse and it's as big as a baseball bat. I didn't realize but when these cartoons were aired for television, much of the "violence" was cut out. Remember - these cartoons were created by adults for adults, to accompany a feature film... they were not created for kids. Clearly, their appeal ranges from toddlers, teens to adults - still being enjoyed some 50- 60 years later. It ends with a classic WB move - and visual gag' when Daffy becomes aware and tells the audience... "she's got that old ball & chain look" and the cartoon cuts to a close up of the stunning lady duck and her pupils are a ball & chain, this causes Daffy to run screaming -through a wooden door, leaving his silhouette. She runs after him, also smashing through the door. The cartoon ends leaving the silhouettes - to appear as a Bride & Groom. Did Daffy get away? Who knows. There's all kinds of love in Warner Brother cartoons, even a few marriage scenes.. fun lessons on Love'... if they don't blow up when you try to sneak a kiss, as happens to Bugs Bunny, constantly. I know a few who refer to their spouse as "the ball & chain"... funny - if it's not true. Marriage can absolutely feel like a ball and chain - & that's why Warner Brother cartoonists depicted it- long ago. Ah... Love. Who do you think of when it comes to classic cartoons - I bet it's Pepe. Anyhow- a reminder that there is all kinds of love - you just have to keep looking, sooner or later- you will find the perfect partner, if Taz can do it - you can too. Forest find! Gouache on watercolour. 4 x 4
Pooh & Piglet discover a fantastic fungi in the forest - oh, just imagine the adventures! I enjoy these tiny paintings as they encourage play' with paint, I also enjoy using a tiny brush, painting fur & blades of grass is meditative. Enjoy your day and all you discover... on your own, or with a friend. Give thanks, for another day. Pooh & Piglet camp fire . 8 x 8 gouache on watercolour
Inspired by original illustrations. Winnie the Pooh. A.A. Milne Piglet~ "How do you spell Love?" Pooh~. "You don't spell it, you feel it. This blog & painting have been 'Poppy approved'. It's February - cold and snowing -Yay! But March is on the way & with March comes anticipating Spring. February is the perfect month you can look at all the snow and appreciate it, knowing it will melt sooner than you know. I like to have a treat- baked myself , so I know what's in it and the treat this winter has been scones -with fresh fruit, preferably blueberries & strawberries & sometimes both! I've also made cheddar cheese, bacon & jalapeño scones- Yum. I have a mixer (kitchen aid) which makes it all possible, especially bread since I have arthritis mixing, kneading dough can be a not pleasant experience -the machine does it all, keeping me baking - & I'm thankful for it.
I painted my goto recipe, mostly just to warm up painting for the day -it's no masterpiece lol So, I simply add all ingredients to the bowl, mixing the wet separately in a small bowl first - add it all together including the fruit you choose, mix it until it is mixed- don't over do it. Form into a circle - the size of a dinner plate, and pre cut -also brush with heavy cream for a dark crunchy crust, some suggest egg but I suggest cream. Bake @ 400 for 20 minutes & there you have it - a treat to have with your tea or a sweet breakfast alternative to a donut- that you do not know, it's ingredients. Easy Peasy. They also last on the counter for about 5 days & freeze well. Mine usually last 2 days. They are very easy & very satisfying -on a chilly day like today -they are perfect. We do not buy cookies' cakes' or baked goods unless they are from a real bakery & there is a terrific little bakery- right around the corner (in Carnarvon). Since we started paying attention to ingredients - there are always more than needed at the store, they need all that extra stuff to keep it sitting in a truck then onto the shelf... looking fresh. Show yourself some love - leave all that stuff you do not need on the shelf. Next... Storm bought me a gift, that actually makes me sick to my stomach every single time I use it, but I TRUST it is working - already! Can you guess what it might be??? Enjoy your scones!! Old dogs… I love old dogs.
I love all dogs, the smell of a puppy & puppy antics, huge floppy ears and paws that trip over each other, just the thought of a puppy excites me - I can’t resist but older dogs… I love old(er) dogs as much if not a bit more. With older dogs also comes calmer moments. A well behaved older dog is a great companion, often they know when when extra snuggling is needed - perhaps they need the extra snuggling, either way it’s a win win situation. Poppy is 9, Daisy is the oldest. They all get spoiled but Poppy is the only one with a carrier. I spoiled Poppy this week with a new carrier from #CanadaPooch, Poppy finds the cold difficult, with her tiny body immersed is snow when out to pee - she’s in and out. If it’s too cold she won’t go, she uses the bathroom (pee pad) & Im fine with that. This tiny 9 pound canine has loved me beyond - I am her light & she lets me know it every day. To see her watch us from the window is heart breaking, it’s obvious she wants to join us but also begs to be lifted soon after we are out - this was the solution. I’m pleased with the purchase although, not cheap - it is a black, down filled, fake fur lined and she loves it, in it she immediately starts to close her eyes, the look of content being carried in such comfort, obvious. Lol I’m glad Storm likes the look of it too, as he will end up carrying it for me sometimes. Well made, a zipper pocket for my keys, card & cash - a couple of dog cookies & we are set for an adventure, even if it’s just the driveway. Poppy is leader of this pac. Ginger looked a little jealous and wanted a go in the bag, lol -I can’t carry her- she’s too heavy & it hurt my hands, she is on a diet but she sat in it for a bit -along came Arrow & they actually started ‘arguing’ from the bag. OMGosh… I love my dogs. Thankful for every dog I have ever had - each one was absolutely a gift. Spoiling Poppy is a pleasure - she has spoiled me with unconditional love for 9 years & counting! I look forward to at least 9 more. The Happy Hippie 2010. One of my earliest cartoons to help with cannabis education.
Seems like yesterday. When I read how addiction often starts with an injury or pain & how brutal overdoses from opiates are right now, in some places - more died from suicide the past few years, than covid. I think back to a conversation with Sick Kids, suggesting I put my son on liquid codeine & morphine for pain management - but warned, he'd probably have organ failure after a few years, AS well as all the side effects.. Because of cannabis - other substances more harmful were avoided. Cannabis is still not an easily obtainable option for sick children, it should be. It's a very difficult time for parents with sick children, it's such an emotional heart wrenching journey. I don't tell anyone 'what' to do.. I know they are already dealing with enough and often confused, as well as afraid something will happen to their child. When ever a parent reached out to me, I tried to assist by sharing our experience. Everyone has to make their own choices - as they will be the ones living with their decisions. Seems like yesterday. I must say, I enjoyed all the cartoons that were inspired by cannabis & the adventure. Many were sold & some gifted but I still have quite a collection of Happy Hippie in bins. I see them and can hardly believe myself, I created all those! Perseverance. Happy to continue the journey, still painting & educating. Create to create. I've been playing a lot with gouache & exploring light, trying to incorporate more of light into my art & life!
Rise & SHINE! Be the light in someone dark day. The cracks are where the light shines in. I did take a second class on domestic, with Ruth Wilshaw -a more advance gouache, I think I've taken all I can or need to I know gouache - now, it's just about mastering a few other details. Becoming better - every day, that's the plan. Light, I find is easier to achieve on white paper, compared to black but I'll try black too. Hey, you reading this... would you like a card or postcard to bring a bit of sunshine' to your day? Ask. Send me your address in an e mail georgiatoons@gmail.com & I'll mail you out a card. No strings.. anytime. It would be my pleasure to help brighten your day, if I can. We are here to serve & love our neighbours'... everyone on this earth IS our neighbour. Created to create - you are. How sweet it is to be loved by you, starts to play, as I post about the 'power of Love'. Pondering the power of love. Gouache on black 8.5 x 10 We all teach & teach all the time.. Are you planting seeds of Love or Hate? How sweet it is, to get a letter thanking me for 'teaching by example' , from a friend who just exploring paints. She is also brave enough to explore black paper - yeehaw! It's exciting being creative! Happy to be in service. I've been pondering love lately, specifically Gods Love, absolutely perfect love. A reminder as well - all other love, too - is Gods will. It will or it won't. No point stressing over anything, that God has planned. It's all good because - it's all God. Focus on the Power of Love Love yourself, as you would love others. Do what you love. The Adoption - Hoping All your Birthday dreams come true!! gouache on black 8.5 x 11.
I made this card for a clown collecting friend, while I was painting Arrow was busy painting' a card too... Proof, the perfect pet awaits the perfect human. There is someone for everyone - even if 'just a dog'. I love my dogs... this time of year - I feel slightly guilty, it's nice out- they can go out , they don't fear slipping or sliding -but they prefer to stay with me. Aren't dogs the greatest companions. It's heart warming to see all the shared stories on social media of dogs rescued from shelters - discovering their new forever homes. I hope it's forever. I am especially partial to stories of dogs who have spent their lives chained to a dog house (or less) & neglected & abused, who finally become free & loved - part of a family, instead of a prop' or security'. Some seeing and rolling on grass for the first time! The Joy dogs feel & share is contagious. Occasionally, I read of cases where dogs bite, sometimes deadly. I feel for the human & dog, I won't judge by saying "the kids were not being watched.." because, I know accidents like this happen in the blink of an eye & sometimes to people, caregivers & animal lovers with the best intentions. Precaution should always be taken with kids and dogs, always. Maybe January should be 'adopt a furever friend' month - it will help with alcohol free January, as you have to care & socialize with your dog & they don't drink. They even encourage exercise & spontaneous snuggling. I actually enjoyed painting a 'balloon dog'.. I think I'll paint another, doing doggy stuff. Arrow was pleased to show me her recent paintings & 'card' she made for our friend! Proud as can be to imitate mom - on full display for all to admire - provided the sun is at the right angle. Dogs - I love them! Below, she was laughing at me discovering her masterpiece. It's Mental Health Monday - food is life - Let FOOD be thy Medicine! Feel Good Food.
Cooking can be soothing & relaxing & when you cook and feed yourself or friends or family you are serving' love on a plate. When I care for someone, I naturally want to feed them, comfort & heal - when possible. Want to kn0w the positive side of a tooth ache? I lost 10lbs! lol All those Christmas goodies, chocolates, homemade mini cheesecakes (Oh my) & meals with all the fixings! COWabunga - now January and bring on the comfort food! Recently, I tried a post on PIN - 'easy chicken' & another I saw on instagram. On PIN, I as searching for slow cooker recipes -I came across one that sounded way too simple- yet, had many rave reviews so I tried it& it is delicious - VERY easy, affordable & goes a long way.. 1.Get out your slow cooker - add 3 chicken breast (not bone or skin), -sprinkle (on top of the chicken) - taco seasoning -I prefer hot & spicy. -Cover it with a jar of your favourite salsa and cook on high, for 5 hours. When it's done, shred the chicken and it's ready to enjoy Add it to a wrap with rice, black beans, grated cheddar, greens - or just put it in a bowl with some added tasty sides- what ever you prefer. It doesn't get much easier. The above recipe, I saw on Instagram & thought: Drool* - they look good. We tried and (all raved) - I don't think I'll cook potatoes any other way, better than scalloped, mashed or fried & fantastic the next day as hash browns fried up with a duck egg for breakfast. - MmmmmmmMmmph! I'll admit - Storm does the work' like cutting, chopping, slicing & dicing - making all an easy task for me, to throw together. The flavours on the bottom of the pan cook up into the scored potatoes, saturating them with tasty goodness! Storm is also a fantastic cook, getting better with experience. 3 adults live here, 3 adults take turns preparing meals & I rarely do dishes, I did my share, of meals & of dishes - for about 25 years (just me) they can take turns, now. ;) When I have friends/family who tell me, their adult kids (or husbands) don't cook - I think they are foolish & tell them so... I have even suggested - "make them help out & contribute, or ask them to move out. We don't HELP our kids by doing everything for them, Storm also does all laundry & has since I had surgery. As humans on this life journey, no one rides for free - Cash, Grass or Ass - a popular expression for a reason. We are ALL here to serve. When you teach your children to cook, you teach them how to nourish & comfort & care for themselves- and others. It's that time of the year, noticeably more people are feeling blue (fact), so give yourself some comfort food, show yourself some LOVE. Everything in moderation you don't want to pack on too many hibernation pounds. I hope if you try, these recipes make your life a little easier & tastier. Don't blame if if you overindulge leading to a bulge'... hee hee hee Tonight it's pirogies, bacon, onion & cheddar cheese! Prayer before a meal: Thank you Lord, for the food before us & the love between us. Amen. Gouache on watercolour 8 x 8.
There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind. Amen. Created to create. Top Documentary Tuesday.. I enjoy documentaries more than movies (usually), Netflix has several docuseries’ that I’ve watched and found educational, shocking & enlightening. Netflix : Movies that made us: Jurassic Park Season 2, we are given a hint to the ‘Jurassic Punk’, the creators of the dinosaur that changed movie history -specifically, Steve Williams.
Everyone likes to be appreciated, at work & at home , in our daily lives, we all want to be appreciated for our hard work’ & when we are not, we can become bitter, resentful & stuck’ - in many cases, depressed. It happens to us all at some point but this story happens on a larger scale. Raptor size scale. Imagine being the person responsible for changing movie history, with countless hours of hard work (blood, sweat & tears no doubts) only to be shunned by your superior & some peers. The same ‘superior that wins & accepts golden Oscars’ & makes millions (billions even) yet the actual person(s) responsible for the creation, gets demoted - that is fucked up. When I think of how long, how many days, months spent Steve worked staring at a screen to accomplish what he did- WOW. I know what’s involved in animation, enough to understand (& appreciate) the work involved. I cannot comprehend the stress that was also involved - the pressure & money’ riding on what Steve knew he could do.. but, it doesn’t take a genius to realize the toll it would have taken on his relationships, work & private. Steve shared a few 'events during this time that were not even addressed in the documentary & honestly, I don't know how he did as well as he did under the circumstance. “Steve didn’t play that game…” Thank God for that! We are all aware of the corruption in “Hollywood” the past few years & how actors, production people, those who create the actual movies - are under appreciated, abused by power, blacklisted & treated like crap - this is the perfect example. I think I was most shocked that Steve was demoted ‘after proving himself’. When Steve asks “What happened ?” - I immediately remembered him at Sheridan, Him & Harland & the entourage that usually accompanied them- always laughing and had everyone in their presence laughing.. even then one was aware - Steve was incredibly talented, ambitious, handsome, cocky & Canadian - I can’t imagine he was “welcomed” as much as he was perceived a threat, upon arrival. That’s how it is in many cases - in every industry. He proved himself several times over - even when the higher ups doubted him (& themselves). I don’t want to give too much away, it’s really worth the watch. The documentary also educated us on Steves journey with alcohol, which I found truly heart breaking. Steve bares all… Many who struggle with events of our past’, do try to 'drown our sorrows'. I myself, still struggle when feeling down, and have thought (too many times) Drink, numb the pain & go to bed. It is this reason - I do not encourage alcohol, do not offer alcohol & rarely have it in the house. I’ve spent the past year + communicating with Steve, who never alluded to any of it, other then it was ‘truthful. I believe Steve sharing ALL - enlightens us on many levels, a cautionary tale for some, especially those who bend over backwards at ‘work’ for what? I’m heart broken because Steve is a genius, then & now.. I understand why he was upset, but I want him to be happy - everyone does who cares for him, & I can tell that’s a long list of people. I’m grateful for his friendship, he’s helped with covid & made me laugh countless times & amazed me in other ways… Above all he’s been inspiring & continues to BE. He’s indubitably (insert cute WB Gophers) one of my favourite humans on the planet & it only took us 40 years, to become better friends. I am praying Steve finds the love he deserves. For all wondering.. he is doing well. He’s keeping busy & has had an amazing response from this documentary!! Well done, to his good friend Scott who did a remarkable task, of showing us all, the many sides of this story. Who knows - maybe, Steve will finally get some recognition for his work! A lifetime achievement Oscar’… I still don’t think it will impress Steve, as he still doesn’t ‘play that game’ - THANK GOD. It’s been one of our favourite all time documentaries to date - I highly recommend you watch: here is the site telling you where it can be seen - I rented it off apple. Above - The adventure - starts in my sketch book! Pooh & Piglet - helping each other - Rise & Shine!Gouache on black 10.5 x 8
Mental health Monday! Starting off 2023 with FOCUS & Gratitude. Understanding, LOVE is our Power, I’m determined to spread it around - if only, with paint. We noticed, not a lot of people were raving ‘this will be my year’. Everyone IMO, is feeling (mostly everyone) a little worn down, overwhelmed… Schools now are being told they are to accept children, who identify as cats (for example) it has me concerned for the future of this generation, once they are old enough & reality will indeed, set in. We watched a teacher with gigantic fake breasts teach shop while his antics are making a mockery of Canadian Education System worldwide. Trudeau warning Canadians it’s going to be another difficult year, I wonder what lies he’ll get caught telling in 2023. Russia- is still being Russia, and although China is (apparently) rampant with Covid - our airports remain open (if you can call it that) but people need to be ‘covid free’ to enter…. riiiiiggghhht… cowabunga what a start to 2023. I gave myself a gift most might think - unimaginable, I turned my cell phone OFF & threw it in a drawer. Checking it too often, waiting for messages - that don’t come & it’s TOO EASY to be distracted with social media. “I’ll just check Instagram..” - easily turns into an hour (or more) scrolling looking at others create art. God has been gracious - & provided me with paint & paper & a view that calms the body & inspires the mind. I do have a landline, it’s much less distracting, like the good ‘ol days. Lol I’ll use my iPad for art, sharing and off. Created to create- not ‘watch’. This Pooh & Piglet are the direction I AM venturing - Rise & Shine! A positive start - a gentle reminder to anyone who sees it & of course - I enjoyed painting it. Next: Tuesdays - Top Documentary Day -Did you get a chance to watch - Jurassic Punk? Below, Pooh Helping raise Piglet up - in more ways than one. Psilocybin for Mental wellness - a topic many will be discussing this 2023. Happy New Year! Hang in there! gouache on watercolour 6 x 6
When I was a kid I had a poster, (many had it- I think it was one of the 'first' to take off) it was a kitten hanging on a rope that stated: Hang In There. This is my sentiment going into 2023... Stay positive, creative & focus on what you want I read a quote that I want to start my year with: See the Love of God in you, and you will see it everywhere because it is everywhere. Got goals for 2023? I do - be a better human, become a better artist and to love & be loved. That is why we are here. Created to Create & Teach Only Love - as, that is what we are. 3 days away! Hard to believe... Its been a busy couple of weeks but I'm as ready as Im going to be for Christmas 2022.
We are expecting a snow dump, starting this evening - leaving all to wonder if they'll make it to holiday destinations, glad I'm not flying anywhere. I have lost 8 pounds the week before Christmas -weeee!! How did I do it? The tooth ache diet. lol With sweets all around - the thought nibbling on them has me clenching my jaw and wincing in pain - LOOK after your teeth, tooth pain is not fun & I caved, and got some antibiotics because my face had started to swell.. I'm hoping they kick in soon so I can enjoy the feast- the roast beast! I told my dentist a joke: What do you call a bear with no teeth? ... a Gummy Bear! heeheehee Storm took me out yesterday (to the dentist) on the shortest day of the year and it was LOVELY! We were out before 8, the sun, snow on the trees was as though driving into a Christmas card! You know, when drifting snow glistens in the sunlight - Give thanks! It sure is beautiful here, right now covered in snow- lets see how I feel tomorrow - haha. We went to Castle Antiques in Haliburton, which is always entertaining - amazing even... as I was amazed by this metal 'record' (for example) & the soothing melody. The old furniture - the wood grain and the charm & comfort it add to the home, there were several temptations - my house is not very big. Castle Antiques, worth the drive IMO. If that 'Hippo' was just a bit smaller, it would be in my living room, go... you'll see the Hippo. We watched Jurassic Punk. Occasionally, if lucky, we all find something we enjoy. Norm & Storm both commented "That was a Great documentary, really well done!" I knew a little from reading some reviews but not to the degree, this documentary details. I cried, a couple of times... as someone who understands animation, the pressure alone let alone ALL the rest involved - how did Steve create under such pressure? It's a well known tale too, the 'ittle guy does all the work" & the 'boss takes all the credit. We all know it on some scale- this is on a grand scale. I'm thrilled he spoke up & stood his ground. Steve bares all about the Industry & himself. More on Jurracic Punk when my jaw doesn't hurt...lol it touches on a few topics near & dear, to my heart. I'm sure many will be watching over the holidays- I watched it on apple & will again, during the holidays. Best of all, I'm am grateful Steve is doing well & being creative, he makes me smile (even with a swollen jaw) & puts on his red lumberjacket to 'match mine, when we face time. I was thinking, you know its a good friend when you can 'FaceTime, minus a tooth. HeeHee I send him photos of poutine (from the Minden legion), when I want to tease him of what he's missing here in Canada. I highly recommend Jurassic Punk this holiday season! I don't feel like painting today - my jaw that sore, I guess the antibiotics are starting to work. Alas - I can still imagine the next creation & sketch, between naps & ice packs. Ho Ho Ho! |
