I had a beautiful day yesterday... Carm (& her husband John) visited. Carm and I have been friends since grade 5!
Grade 5! Who knew.. God. I pray that everyone is blessed with that one friend, the one who you make memories with, g00d & bad.. yet, still remain friends decades later. Carm & I were best friends grade, 5, 6, 7 & 8 & then came high school and we choose to go to the same: York Memorial. We hardly had classes together but still remained friends. For college - we rarely spoke, each doing her own thing. I was so familiar with Carm & her family, if I was ever 'in the area' I'd drop in, no notice... No notice needed! I was ALWAYS, instantly welcomed in and within seconds I'd be drinking wine & ginger ale & eating home make salami, pickles- pickled mushrooms and more. Carm might or might not have been there. lol I had not just formed a bond with Carm but with her mom, dad & sister Rosanna, I still remember & am fond of our conversations & visits.
Off and On over the years.. Carm ended up being my maid of honour and Storm was her tiny ring bearer! It has been such a gift NOW, to have watched each others kids grow into aspiring, hopeful young humans. OMGosh, Carms baby girl is getting married.. What? Where does the time go?? & her son - is making his dreams come true, I've mentioned him before, he has amassed quite a YouTube following among other things... I must admit - I still see Mark, the entertaining, funny smart boy that LOVED all things Disney - as much as I did/do. To be able to watch someone from birth rise up on this journey... such a gift.
Carm arrived and not 5 minutes passed when no time appeared to have past between us at all, the last 10 years. We chatted and chatted and caught up but hardly! We were both reminded, we don't always know what each other is really dealing with but it sure is nice to KNOW - there is someone we can reach out to who will hug back. Carm has been 'that one friend for me. I didn't always know it but I do now & I thank the Lord for putting us on each others path so long ago - with Mrs. Lockheart, I still remember her too, a great grade 5 teacher. We were initially brought together by our common failed math test. heeheehee. Here's to failure - friendship can be formed!
We walked the woods, the dogs too loved Carm & John.. lol - Carm has never had a dog and it's also a sign as to how she trusts me- when my ferocious appearing dogs charged to the gate to meet her. She knows to stand still and once they past the sniff test- the dogs knew- oh.. this is family. They could smell the love between us. Sense the energy... what a great day. We all agree, we need to make this at least, a yearly visit. I am already looking forward to the NEXT! My prayer for all today is you find "that one friend' to share this journey with & cherish them and Thank The Lord for them and the day to enjoy each others company.
