The Joy & importance of sketching.
The sketches you see here are in a big sketchbook where I just - sketch... Ideas in my mind quickly, roughly sketched into a book that often turn into paintings like the one above -work in progress. I often have sketches that are similar as I fine tune the look/details/oncept. Sketching helps you think & processing emotions. It is a great habit to get into.
I do draw Jesus a lot. Jesus makes me happy, thinking about him& drawing him & watching (The Chosen)& READING about him -preferably in The Holy Bible. Remember the movie The book of Eli? Strangly enough, I woke this morning thinking about that movie; created by the Hughes brothers- my brothers from another mother, lol.. Anyway - watch it, if you have not. I recently read Ai firms are destroying physical books.. books - all books including the bible. Was that movie a prophecy? It sure appears so. I LOVE physical books, just ask my KOBO.. I have had a couple but I always go back to the physical books as the kobo sits on a shelf collecting dust. Even though big books hurt my hands to hold and read, I figured out ways. I have many animation books, art books, art history, books on current situations, events, books on plant identification, trees, animals, histories & a few bibles.. I do not read fiction', I use to but I no longer have the time, I want to read truth- I want to read real history & yes - I absolutely do believe the bible is it. I'm more convinced with the more I learn. To think books might become a memory for some- in a society that is already alarmingly illiterate.. the less you know - they less you will complain. The less you know the easier you are to control. 1984 is another book I recommend, many read it in high school - re read it, I guarantee you will see it differently - all these decades later, once seeming fiction , now appears to be FACT - ask China or look into Flock Cameras. Have you also read about how Flock Cameras have already been abused by those said to protect us - the police, using Flock to track women they are 'interested in'.. Holy Flock!
There really is so much going on that we are finding out- after the fact, after they have already started to destroy books, after they have already started installing these cameras EVERYwhere. So.. back to sketching. While I sketch I think about all sorts of things, sketching comes easy for me and not much concentration is needed - as a matter of fact- I think - the less you THINK about your sketches- and just Go' the better they'll be. I often will look at sketches that have been turned into paintings and theres a tiny bit more 'life' in the sketches, more energy- maybe because I draw them so fast- the woman about sketched was about 10 minutes, now I'm on day two of painting her- You really have to let gouache dry (or use a hair drier) in between layers and the above 'wash' is just a first layer. Sketching is PURE JOY more of a workout for my minds that I often realize, while sketching- I'm also pondering.. details of the drawing and life.. Get into a habit of playing first - in a sketch book.
Back to painting & then starting another sketch (shown below - you'll have to guess which one)
Enjoy this day The Lord has made!
