The mushrooms have been out in full force- all summer. I can't walk 6 feet without stopping to take a photo! Actually, I don't stop too long as that is when the mosquitos find me.
About mosquitos, I have noticed something.. Last year I kept reading about coffee grounds, burned- they are said to keep mosquitos away. Last year I started to take coffee grounds and instead of going in the garbage, I'd dump them on the deck, in no time the sun dries them & I'll sweep them between the cracks- gone. Last year (as mentioned) and this year I have noticed FEWER mosquitos on the deck area, fewer mosquitos trying to get in the screen door at night... fewer mosquitos and I've hardly lit one incense stick to deter them. Could it be? That simple of a trick.. It appears to be working, I haven't done anything else, I don't spray.. I only spray my dogs with apple cider vinegar & water when we venture into the forest & the ticks too- I've had fewer this year than the past. So - take it or leave it- the advice.. me- I'll be Tossing coffee grounds back to the ground.
I watched Nepal get washed away yesterday, it was heart wrenching. Gone in seconds by a wave.
I learned of a letter in the UK that the government sent to a community.. the woman shocked - holding letter that apparently states - the government is suggesting women/girls not leave their homes. Not leave their homes. So, they are being asked to become prisoners in their own homes & towns where they have paid taxes all their lives - now being forced to live in fear for an entire group who has proven themselves to encourage violence. The letter went on to state- IF they must leave their home - they are told to dress properly, cover bare shoulders and show little skin. why... because immigrant men can't apparently control themselves from sexual violence and rape. Imagine telling your daughter - do not leave the house, you'll be attacked.. imagine being forced into that mindset- because a group of men - can't control themselves. Imagine your government- creating a brochure - explaining to immigrants/refugees/asylum seekers (whatever you want to call them) that to rape is not acceptable, that a woman - person must consent to sex. WTF.
The woman continues to read - the letter also states- some religions do not like dogs... they are told to keep their dogs inside and only let them out in their back yards - and even suggest- perhaps they should re-home the dogs- away from others. WTF!!?
Is Canada giving out such brochures? Will they wait- until it's too late?? While Canadians will be shamed for speaking up about any such issues.. called racists because they share facts, concerns, fears... Clearly we don't have brochures about dumping garbage, spray painting BC water falls.. or the woman fined for dumping her bag of garbage into a river.. .. clearly - we do need a brochure. Nature heals.. if we don't protect nature all Canadians will suffer.
If you can, go explore.. if YOU see people doing like above- record and report- ONLY when they are fined & pay, will it hopefully stop. Enjoy this day the Lord has made.. hug a tree, while you can!
