Food for thought.
What is Halal meat.. Halal meat is meat that is prepared according to Islamic law, including the specific slaughter method called dhabiha (dhabīḥah), where a Muslim makes a cut to the jugular vein, carotid artery, and windpipe, with the animal alive and healthy and all blood drained. Many UK halal meats also use pre-slaughter stunning, but rules can vary depending on interpretation and the practices of the slaughterhouse.
There is currently much discussion about Halal meat on line. I didn't know' anything about it so I decided to do a bit of research.. I mean, why not? The bible talks about blood sacrifice to please the Lord all the time, hunters hang and drain the blood from deer- but they shoot them first (hopefully) BUT there is a few things I just learned & I for one will choose (while we still can) not to eat Halal meat after what I learned.
Non-Muslims may prepare or handle halal meat as long as the meat, ingredients, utensils, and preparation process remain halal and uncontaminated by prohibited substances such as pork or alcohol. The slaughter is the part with religious requirements. In many Islamic interpretations, the slaughterer must be a Muslim or, under Qur’an 5:5, a practicing Jew or Christian (“People of the Book”), though some scholars and halal-certification bodies accept only Muslim slaughterers or impose additional conditions. Standards can therefore vary by country, Islamic authority, and certifier.
So, in short: preparing halal meat does not generally require being Muslim; performing the ritual slaughter may.
Online, people appear to be upset about the actually process calling it unnecessarily painful and cruel, especially when there are standards that have been put in place to avoid such issues. I agree with that as we torture animals enough, it's horrible how we 'treat what nourishes our bodies, souls. Some don't want that 'energy' in them, some might roll your eyes - you should be looking into 'energy' and new scientific information around it. Also many are pointing out - they have witnessed a creature prepared Halal and it didn't go as smoothly as expected - the animals often suffer horribly, especially if not done correctly. I'm pretty sure a few places (New York)- have been FORCED to now allow Backyard butchers to preform halal. Not restaurants - backyards. I once saw a family over a decade ago, do this to a GOAT in Georgina at a beach - I was ignorant enough to think - they brought a pet goat to the beach...
One woman (I apologize for not providing the link, I forgot) explains this is not the only issue, when spearing the meat - it is also mentioned :
Halal meat must adhere to specific Islamic dietary laws regarding the type of animal, the method of slaughter, and the purity of the process.
Permitted Animals Meat must come from animals considered permissible (halal) in Islam. This includes cattle, sheep, goats, camels, and poultry. Animals that are forbidden (haram) include pigs and their by-products, carnivores with fangs (such as lions or wolves), and birds of prey.
The Method of Slaughter (Zabiha) The ritual slaughter process, known as Zabiha, is the central requirement for meat to be considered halal. It typically involves these elements:
*Invocation to Allah (not Muhummad) is directed to GOD. BUT no, not the Trinity - The Father, Son & Holy spirit. Ponder that while Praising Jesus. O.k. all that is interesting and o.k. - so be it.. I can still choose the meat I want to eat.. but what no-one seems to be realizing is we are losing the choice, more and more places are serving Halal meat, what brought this to my attention is people sharing: Swiss Chalet serves Halal meat- and it does:
Whether Swiss Chalet serves halal meat depends on the specific location. Swiss Chalet is not a universally halal chain, but some individual restaurants—particularly those in areas with higher Muslim populations (such as parts of Mississauga and Markham)—serve halal chicken.
Based on available information:
It's not just about the meat.. it's intentions' are to an 'idea of God', I am not comfortable with - Praise Jesus!
Having to be prepared by Muslims - and you know it is.. traditional' (non-muslim) Canadians' are indeed forced out of jobs in Canada. No beers for guy who prepares Halal. eh.
More and more is Muslim ideals extending into Canadian traditions & values & business.. & if you think it's only going to be Halal meat- you are being naive. Learn other laws of Islam, read what rules apply- especially to women. You know Ai will tell you one thing- but the most eye opening accounts are from Muslim/former muslim women online and it looks bleak, accepting the rules for meat - will eventually lead to except all islamic laws.
So.. while you can still chose what will it be?
You are what you eat. Some will eat the cheapest options - giving 0 thought, I get it.. really, been there.
If they take their laws towards God - so seriously, I will too. How about you?
Enjoy this day The Lord has made.

- Intention and Invocation: The slaughterer must be a sane adult and must invoke the name of God(saying Bismillah, meaning "In the name of Allah") at the time of slaughter.
- The Incision: A sharp knife must be used to ensure a quick death and minimize pain. The slaughterermust cut the carotid arteries, jugular veins, trachea, and esophagus in one swift motion.
- Blood Drainage: The blood must be allowed to drain fully from the carcass, as the consumption of bloodis forbidden in Islam.

- Partial Halal Status: Even at locations that serve halal chicken, other menu items may not be. For example, some reports indicate that while the chicken is halal, the Signature Chalet Sauce and certain gravies or poutines may not be.
- Non-Halal Items: The chain's smoky BBQ ribs are pork, which is haram.
