After spending some time on Face book the past 48 hours I have come to two conclusions.. delete my face book account next time I'm on & it appears 'if forced to choose between their guns and kids - American kids would lose. The kids ARE losing, their lives.
* Before we go any further- I have American friends who have kids.. I know they love them as much as I love my own son - this is my own conclusion of what I am witnessing along with the rest of the world. If my friends own guns - I don't want to know. I don't 'get it'.
Everything happens for a reason - I personally have had interactions with Americans and their gun mentality. It frightened me & continues from time to time to cause me stress, how could it not. An American phoned me and threaten to 'shoot herself'.
I can prove it, should I ever have to & have taken precautions since to have it documented. 'Americans need guns for their own protection'. ?
How many guns are used to kill the owner by the owner.. we will never fully read those statistics. Suicide is STILL considered taboo - making it easy to ignore the gun murdering statistics. "They killed themselves - she/he was crazy - don't blame the guns..." it's been whispered too many times.
Bullshit. The young woman who has spoken up - I am thankful to her.
What would you do? If a person called you, explained 'some things' and then told you (crying hysterically) they were going to hang up and shoot themselves & had no one else they could turn to... I suggested she come stay with me, she was frightened & I assured her she would be safe here until she could 'calm down' & think things through. Hours later she was on a plane.
I've had friends say to me since 'What were you thinking??!' I didn't even know her, I had NEVER communicated with her before. I felt I had to help and it was all I could think to do. What would you do?
I only knew at that moment a woman was sounding very frightened, desperate and I did believe she was going to shoot herself with 'her gun she owned'. When she arrived she was visibly shaken, frightened, upset - when she left she was calmer. She thanked us for her visit, thanked me for 'saving her life..', thanked us for welcoming her into our Canadian home and providing her a different perspective, she called it 'a miracle'.. and I believed her, again.
The only one who can help gun owners from hurting themselves and others are the gun owners. Get rid of your guns.
If you have thoughts of killing yourself - do you think it's a good idea to own a gun?
HOW are people who have records of suicide attempts or documented mental instability able to own guns? How did that kid get that gun? It's a serious problem.
I will say I think about her still, worried mostly. It is out of my control & never did have anything to do with me - apparently, I was just the piece of the puzzle that made it all CLICK & for the record... I enjoyed her visit (we all did) we did ceramics, yoga, painting lessons, the Canadian mall experience / poutine, maple syrup and she went home with some local honey! I tried to distract, help and remind her what was important. She also promised she would get rid of the gun when she returned home.
I had to stop communication... I pray she's o.k., when we last communicated she was getting help, appeared more positive, was hopeful & was 'moving on.'
She is strong, intelligent & beautiful and has been through worse and will be fine, imo.
What would you do?
Hindsight... perhaps I should have hung up the phone and called the police in the USA - it's
not like this sort of thing happens every day... but it does. More than we realize.
Canada is effected by Americans and their Guns.
*even without actually crossing our borders.
When will it stop? Will it? Countless excuses STILL, more school kids are dead, TRUMP takes money from the NRA, - how will the children have a hope in hell? They don't.
Go simply go to school, be kids... it's never going to be the same if this is not changed NOW.
How many are terrified go to school and think 'will someone try this here?'
I'm sure Canadian kids are having these conversations in school and with their parents.
The level of PTSD in Americas schools is at an all time high, understandably.
Imagine how many kids will be prescribed medication for it.. more deaths expected.
Yet, after reading FB - I can't see any changes being made anytime soon - It's a sick pattern- these shooting happen and 2 weeks later it is forgotten until next time and we ALL know there will be a next time. 3 weeks sounds about right.
The recent shooter is obviously very sick and appears to have quite the evil streak in him, I guess he will be tried as an adult- his actions appeared to be well thought out- so he should be. Adult men (and women) - promote killing in other ways & kids become confused, encouraged by Trophy hunters- THRILL killers- they can take out Rinos and pay $$$$$ they make it appear exciting, What the rich get to do for fun! Bang Bang!!!
GLORIFY THRILL killing and it's part of the problem. We constantly read & are warned:
If children show intentional harm to animals, it's a sign they might be psychotic - well??
Explain trophy hunters.
Netflix 'Trophy, I could NOT watch it without having intense feeling of hatred & disgust for the featured hunter (& family) when he is 'crying over that dead beautiful lion' at the end I wanted to climb through the Tv shoot him myself - there it is.. the gun mentality. :(
How easily an avid anti gun person can switch.
Imagine how easily ANY GUN owner can SWITCH.
Before we see guns gone- we will see this and are already seeing it- now on the market- back packs with bullet proof lining. It blows my mind parents are now having to consider back to school supplies like bullet proof backpacks - and hence another $$market some will get rich with.. thanks to GUNS.
Women (& men): The last thing you should shoot yourself over is a man.
& especially a lying one at that.
