Walking with Jesus, it has iridescent green all over it & today I think I'll add a little darker green foliage in the very front.
It is for my own 'Jesus collection. Painting my homeboy brings me JOY.
At no time yesterday did the weather ap. predict rain & rain it did! I'm glad it rained as the anticipated heat the next few days will water everything - hopefully until the next needed rain... BUT - I was reading my bible (painted) outside yesterday and left it outside - Thank God, it was partially covered by the umbrella but it still go wet -Ouch.. it's outside still, now waiting for the sun to dry it up- pages a little 'wrinkly' - I'll weight it down when completely dry - hopefully it will help. Lesson learned. My big sketchbook left outside too but safe on the table, completely covered by the umbrella. Lesson learned.
I bet hundreds of thousands are learning lessons about water shortage in Calgary... an eye opening experience. No swimming, no watering your garden, no washing your cars etc... people are being encouraged to work from home because they might smell from less showering & neighbours are telling on neighbours when they do wash their cars, even businesses are being threatened with water shut offs if they are using more than they should. It's got me & probably thousands also wondering about Torontos water pipelines. I have always had an appreciation for water & get upset when it's being 'wasted' just ask those who live with me. This is from being educated about water restrictions & shortages around the world, namely how some places flaunt water wasting - like giant fountains, pools and pristine golf courses, do you have any idea of the amount of water they use? Lots. Yet, other places have no clean water to bath in let alone drink when their hearts desire. Then there's the issue with water being bought & bottled and making some companies more money than most of us can ever imagine - specifically Canadian water. Some of the freshest and abundant in the world, for how long? All the while polluting our planet with billions of plastic bottles yet we get reprimanded for using plastic bags to carry our groceries home, go figure.
Lies and greed & lack of concern for those less fortunate struggling for clean water, what else is new.
I bet everyone in Calgary wishes they had more rain barrels - do they make them for apartment balconies? At least you'd be able to water your plants. In some states in the USA it is illegal to capture' rain water & not long ago Olivia Chow tried to tell Ontario 'we'd be getting a new water tax' for rain water. It was interesting - they plan to use satellite images to calculate the run off from individual roofs and charge accordingly -proving to us, where there's a will there's a way. If only they put this much consideration & effort into homelessness -a growing trend. Who owns rain water - NO ONE. I'm not sure if Calgary is also in for a heat wave but I hope they figure out how to keep cool, it could still be a few weeks before they can return back to that leisurely 30 minute shower. Ask anyone who lives/visits here how I feel about 30 minute showers... Ridiculous! I make no apologies, I understand and have for a while - water is liquid Gold - water is life. No blue no green.
If you take something for granted as millions of us still do - life will teach us a lesson on exactly what we have been given just like the song - Don't it always seem... you don't know what we've got until it's gone OR until your paying MORE taxes for it. Remember Water is so important Jesus & many of us have been baptized in it. Amen.
My desk is clean - ready for new creations. Bring on the heat & let my bible dry!
When you take a sip/dip in cool refreshing water - even if in a lake, offer a simple prayer of thanks.
