It's a beautiful Sunday! I'll be spending it with these 4 (above), exploring the forest, napping, reading, soaking up some sun - a perfect day. Sunday - the day of rest... I hope all mothers out there truly get the rest they need today.
I've been looking into women in the bible, specifically powerful women. When I was younger, I believed the narrative' that most women in the bible are weak & manipulative... luring & misleading men to their destruction with their wicked ways. The Bible was a tool used by many men 'to keep women in their place'... whatever that means, depends on who you ask. Ask God, where is a woman's place? Right where God needs her to be. In some cases, at the side of man - as his equal, that's why a rib' was taken from Adams side and not a foot bone for example. Women are not to be controlled, demeaned, used or stepped on'. That is NOT why God created her .. he did create a companion for Adam, someone for him to cherish and experience the Garden, together.
God visits & communicates with women and often it is women that bring down a king or mighty warrior, not with malice but wisdom. Wisdom is a Woman, in the Bible. With God, since creation.
Women are to believe that it is only men who are chosen by God to be great leaders. NOT TRUE, it's simply a plan devised by men to eliminate the competition. It seems to me that the most insecure, hostile groups/nationalities of people are the same that keep women as 'property', to be controlled, abused & raped (legally) at 9 years of age.. Go figure, sound familiar?
WE AE ALL ONE in Gods eyes, all his children, all created for greatness and don't forget it!
& don't let any man put you, where he thinks you should be. Be where God wants you. Trust in God and you will rise up.
Women have been accused of being 'tricksters and seen in a negative light and that was indeed intentional, research it. Past Popes (Hello Pope Leo! May God continue to bless him and help him raise us all up!) went to great lengths to have women in the bible - minimized & sexualized... more or less to be seen as 'all insignificant prostitutes', to be stoned at for simply displeasing a man (which can mean a great many things, to men).. Scripture itself destroys that idea'.
See & Hear and learn how Jesus treats women. Angels speak to women, God speaks to women and women are awarded with being responsible for birthing nations! Where would YOU be without a woman? Not here.
Judith & Ester are two of my favourites.. they didn't use brutality or even force.. they used wisdom.
Wisdom of men and understanding how many times a mans desire often leads to his own demise. Albeit, he probably blames a woman for it. :) funny not funny. Both beautiful, both used their looks and Faith in God to get done what needed done. God has used women almost as often as men in the bible to rid us of evil humans. Ester had to prepare for over a year being trained in cosmetics, adorned in jewels & perfume (and politics) before she even met with the king. He fell in love with her at first sight & proved his love, happily ever after. She used her wisdom to expose evil and saved her people. Judith saved her people by having the courage to offer herself to evil - understanding the weakness of men & the influence of alcohol, she removed the head of the leader of one of the greatest armies, saving her people.
They are not moms of one or two but moms of many, looking out for ALL Gods children.
One of the greatest blessings as growing older, maturing, ageing (call it what you will) is many women I know (some men too, but few) turn away from wanting 'things' & desires.. to wanting & desiring wisdom. One of the most powerful Queens in the Bible didn't want land, treasures or power, she wanted only one thing from The Greatest King (ever).. for him to share his Wisdom.
Stuff breaks, wears out, loses it's value, gets boring but Wisdom... Thinking about & desiring Wisdom is like having those rare 'lightbulb moments', going off a few times a day! & understanding: You know & God knows.
That's all anyone needs to know. Trust in God.
I am wise enough to know the sun doesn't shine everyday - so out I go, time to kick the ball a hundred times and pick a weed or two.
Enjoy this day The Lord has made! Be a Judith!
