Summer is here and today has been a glorious day! Hot but wonderful. I started the day early, out with the dogs at 5 -going for our first stroll before it gets too hot. It's time to paint outside, inspired by my own garden I've started a new painting... the one problem, I must remember to spray my pallet because acrylic paint dries fast!
A lovely bright yellow background, sketched out image with crimson red and now I'm adding colours and details.. taking several breaks to walk in the shade or in the house to cool off. I was listening to the last few Jordan Peterson podcasts and they focus on the harms of social media, especially concerning children. I encourage any parent to listen, cell phone bans are starting or kids and it's a step in the right direction... when I think of my own childhood , what did we do - PLAY, outside.. ball, red light - green light, tag, hide and seek, sand box, parks, visit pools, draw on sidewalks... there was always something to do. Kids now - experience very little of any of it, unless growing up in the county, they still seem to get out more. You might not think it's a problem with your children now but it is causing very serious problems as these kids get older, & have serious struggles making it in an 'adult' world. Did you know in Japan - 30% of people under 30 are still virgins, hardly any socializing in person has created a huge problem - especially with the declining birth rate. Have a listen & make some changes to provide a better childhood - leading to a more positive adult experience, hopefully. Episode #554
Adults also struggle with social media, in episode #555 they speak about the trouble Elon is having, the one fellow had to eliminate his accounts as he found them very stressful. Jordan Peterson touched upon those who post anonymously' relating them to being psychopaths, predators & parasites.. and I can't say I disagree. Most comments you see on social media that are nasty are 'made up', often no image accounts, no posts... just some miserable stranger (or mindless bot - one in the same) commenting negative, nasty remarks they probably wouldn't have the courage (or intelligence) to say to someone in person. Professional shit disturbers. Allowing people to post & write anonymously allows nasty humans to thrive (or think they are). I've had 'anonymous' comments posted on my www, only 3 times in all these years and they were nasty & petty. They did not upset me.. if someone is commenting anonymously, they are cowards, not confident or intelligent enough to have a 'conversation', instead they sit, stew & stalk others... it doesn't phase me because I recognize these are pathetic actions.. who does that? Who takes the time to try to make others miserable, a miserable human. I recognize these people usually have too much time on their hands and huge egos to think their negative anonymous comments, mean anything - they do, they mean that person has nothing better to do but try to steal others/strangers joy.. what does it say about them? Pray for them, they need it.
There are days I can't even think of going on social media, I was shocked to hear how these 2 adult men struggle. I take days, sometimes week breaks and always feel 'rested, calmer.. it's nice to take a break from Trump shenanigans. Anyhow, food for thought, listen and maybe take a break! Has social media brought us closer or just brought out the parasites, it depends on the day.
Today, is a beautiful day to stay off social media, I think I will for a few so I can focus on this painting and ponder Jesus, nature & enjoy this heat wave... where your thoughts are, so is your treasure.
