Bambi & Thumper Acrylic on oval canvas 9 x 7
This was as much fun to paint the second time as it was the first -this one is better, I took my time when drawing, changed the scenery & it's just a bit brighter; the oval frame adds an element of cuteness. I was using the other paint (photo below) and it felt lovely, has vibrant colours but the coverage isn't as good - not on canvas anyway. I will be trying them on wood next. My usual painting will be golden, still. My friend Linda - also a painter, suggested Amsterdam (paint) I might try it next. That's the thing with a tiny studio, I can't seem to keep it clean so I'm not into adding anything more. There's always room for Acrylic & gouache! As long as I have room to paint, I'm good.
When you purchase new paint you should always try it on a 'for fun' piece, this way if the quality looks not as you hope you won't be upset, especially if you have spent hours o it as with my pine tree. When the paint still shows the canvas, you end up painting it twice (at least) to get the solid look. Golden covers in one shot... mostly. The shade selection was great and I'm still excited about using them, that's an important part of the journey, enjoying the process. It also still makes me laugh at the thought of Bambi responding to Thumper. Since my last Bambi painting -it's almost strange how many times we have heard someone say: 'Shut the fuck up!', lol... that being said we have started watching Yellowstone, Kevin Costner is perfect for this part.

Isn't the sky magnificent? Day & night... blue, pink, orange, red, purple, stars, moon, planets, clouds or clear - it's always magnificent. It's that time of year albeit - got mosquito stuff? Spray? Clothing? Zappers? Swatters? Lamps? Candles?
They are brutal blood suckers day and night, especially with all the rain we've had. Apparently there's also been much rain on the trails & some roads have washed out, be prepared. Tourists be warned. I do find burning incense in the house keeps them from lingering by the screen doors, they always manage to sneak in with the the dogs.
Todays interesting news note... did you know Spain plans to phase out all Air B & B's & short term rentals, stating it is the main contributing factor for increased rents, fewer options to rent & creating more of a homeless problem. 2028 is the year they plan on it ending, those who continue will be heavily fined to discourage them from renting short term. Hmmmm. I can see that happening elsewhere. I'm sure there will be a few ways some will get around it, they always do. & for those that have the money to spend, places will be available. I think the hotel industry must be losing money as well, I like the idea of staying at some of these private places, it's a thriving business as well just about anyone can partake in - why not. A while back I was reading Travel will definitely become a luxury item. Who wants to travel when airlines can cancel at any time, leaving travellers in a lurch - how stressful that must be, not for me. I thinkWest jet has done it twice in recent weeks, I understand it's from strike threats - still... who's being hurt >travellers/tourists< you know, the once who pay for those jets.
Canada is a beautiful country, traveling here (if I desire) shall suffice.
