Saw 2...

Saw 2...  I painted another saw over the holidays, it was a commission.  Acrylic on metal.  I wanted to keep it with a sort of 'aged look' to match the actual saw, how lovely is the tiny carved detail on the handle, I've not seen it before.  I didn't want to distract from it so I incorporated a couple of vines like it.  In it are several hidden messages, mostly love.
I'm excited to paint the next & think I'll repeat along these lines - more mushrooms. Wooden themes, since a saw is used to cut down trees I like the idea of a forest floor.

I absolutely LOVE bringing new life to an old item, this saw probably lay in a dusty shop for years,  now it will hang on a wall to be enjoyed for many more years.   I have been gifted a few saws - so more to come!!  This saw also has iridescent paint that you can only see when the light hits it from a specific direction.  I could have sanded the saw handle but I know it was the owners dads, so I thought best to leave it - even the previous paint splatters, a reminder that it was used long before I painted it.   I have already been made aware that this saw was loved & that made my day, I know it's going to be looked at & enjoyed for years - possibly decades and that's what it's all about.  Painted with Love to 'show' love, in this case - love of the land & mushrooms!

The details on the handle.. nothing is made like this any longer and I find that sad.   Tiny details of 'love' make a big impact.

I spent the past few days on a sketching frenzy- all things Jesus, I'm starting to paint them today.. starting the new year off right.  Created to create..  I hope you had a Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

I love these mushrooms! I’ve been ill for a couple of years and also had a horrendous shoulder injury. In 2024 I bought a great book with good photos: “Mushrooms” by Dorling Kindersley Ltd.; ISBN 9781465408556. I’ve been able to do 4 mushrooms in coloured pencil, 2 in pen and ink, and one in watercolour. Small sizes 3 to 5 inches. They are so fascinating in their endless variety. I plan to do more in acrylic gouache on a wall calendar I am making. I went back and saw several mushroom paintings by you that I enjoyed.
