What a lovely day yesterday & today! The weather is a wonderful goodbye from summer hello fall -next week!
If only' finding mushrooms was that easy Bullwinkle!
I wish we'd get some rain tho - the mushrooms are a little slow.. still, they are there and will show themselves the next couple of weeks. It's that tricky (frustrating) time of year when from a distance you spy a bright orange Boletus, climb over fallen trunks, branches, rocks.. only to discover that's it's actually just a leaf. Got me again! Just like in the spring pinecones pretend to be morel. Forest F*ckery'. I love it.

The nature of things: Cannabis: cure-all or snail oil? What's your guess? Snake oil? I know, it's 'Cure-all' & more are still discovering just that! Wow, I was thrilled to hear what they are researching- Cannabis for kids! YES! I've been suggesting it for over a decade, easily. Why not!? We have no problems providing medications designed and created for adults- with serious side effects, addiction rates and more. Also an increased awareness for older adults! AMEN!
Perhaps if we had not been prescribing these chemical cocktails (also a few decades) for our elderly they might live a longer, healthier life. Cannabis becoming legal in Canada was a bonus & the science is proving it. Of course there's still some scientists that suggest - we need to study it more... HOLY cannabis- it has been used by millions, long before 'prescription medications' were ever invented, stop with the red tape bull - you don't just delay availability to those who could benefit but you keep the ignorance rampant. You keep children on medications that destroy other parts of the body over time, including the brain, research it. Give this medicine to your child but after a few years of constant use for chronic pain - it will slowly destroy his organs. Fact. I was told this by Sick Kids pain clinic... to which I am now grateful as it forced me to seek out alternatives.
Over time I have realized just like with anything - perhaps there are people who are negatively effected by cannabis, who's to say they are not allergic? I know certain foods make me nauseous, some will make people itch and some make us feel uncomfortable, I could not take NeoCitran cold medicine lemon drink, it would make me anxious, unable to sleep - & extremely uncomfortable, (NeoCitran Extra Strength products contain acetaminophen, which can cause severe liver damage if taken in excess, combined with other acetaminophen-containing medications, or consumed with three or more alcoholic drinks daily. Always follow the recommended dosage and consult a healthcare provider if unsure)
Another warning - we all ignore (we'll most people I know did/do) Do not take with alcohol. As stated above, I myself have taken medication with alcohol in the past, I don't drink anymore. I had a friend who accused me of being a 'stoner' for my cannabis use, while she sipped a rum & coke (her 3rd that day) while wearing a pain patch for chronic pain - Duh. Anyway, cannabis is A MEDICINE (stated by The Supreme Court of Canada & countless Dr.s, scientists, professional - world wide) proved to help many for chronic pain- a safer alternative compared to addictive & deadly 'prescribed pain medication/opiates. Dr.s should absolutely use it with Children - first - before the harmful medications. I use it to get a break from my chronic TN pain... sometimes I must use it simply to calm my condition down so I can walk easier. Cannabis has HELPED keep me off dangerous medications & keeps me functioning.
