I also am an admirer of Totem poles and have seen them throughout my life and Canada -each time with astonishment for the ART of the carved Giants - once covered with leaves still standing sending messages for generations to come. This is one of my favourite pieces, the edge of the paper I painted in gold was exactly the finish touch this raven needed. Clearly these long 'canvas' are a preference of mine - the 'black you see like the bottom mask if the black paper- it's a interesting way to paint.
In California I woke every morning by the Crow or Raven alarm - sometimes here they will wake me up but usually it's the bluejays asking "Where's breakfast!" Do you have a Spirit bird? A totem animal? Is it the Raven? Sure enough I looked up Storms totem animal as he is the one who's been noticing the ravens- and it is his Totem Spirit - on his birthdate. The knowledge of these animals were 'created & shared in history and ancient teachings- to help us as we continue through life- to dismiss them is the same as dismissing anything - "it's Hocus locus"... instead why not learn a little?
