Ouch!! This is not Arrow - it's her brother.
My friend sent me this image as a painful reminder - keep an eye on your dogs.
I keep a close eye on my girls, as a matter of fact this entire summer has been spent training Athene: "Come!!" when called. We live with bears, deer, moose and porcupine! I forget about porcupine... not any more. If my dogs take longer than 3 minutes to get here, once called - I let them know "What took so long!!!?" Arrow knows, Athene is learning. If I ask her (them) that - I then close the one who took the longest in my room, away from the pack - no physical hitting, this lets them know I am not pleased & seems to do the trick. Ginger is the worst culprit! She strolls along at her own pace, a lot slower than a coyote.
This being said.. my cat is gone. Once again, I'm heart broken & I don't get it.. many have cats up here that go out, 3 cats.
3 cats, all neutered. Not one has lasted longer than a year and they have all disappeared, this last one was so great at coming when called and never ventured very far, I thought he would be fine. It loved the dogs, it and Athene - best friends. Everyone I tell says "it's strange"... I'm trying not to dwell, it's difficult enough without speculating on what might have happened. I know I give my animals a great life with lots of love.. I have given it to God.
I have warned Norm: NO MORE CATS!!
I can't do it, stress, not sleeping in over a week and cried too many times to mention. We tried to keep it in but it was impossible, it would push out the screens. I will absolutely miss the fun & personality of a cat in the home, he was spoiled and had a great climbing shelfs.. now removed. Let this post be a lesson(s).
If you bring your cats/dogs camping, hiking or let them run loose.. be prepared.
Arrows brother, it was a painful experience removing the quills for both of them (I can't even imagine how difficult it would be), it was not his first time - it happened years ago. My friend once warned me when I said : I'm going to let my dogs out to chase the raccoons... "Don't! It might be a porcupine!"
Be careful, be aware & stay safe.. you & your pets.
