One Froggy Evening. Acrylic on wood. 8 x 10
Hello my honey, hello my baby… Who doesn’t remember this dancing frog?
This construction worker who thinks he’s discovered a buried treasure & money maker with a singing & dancing frog, who only preforms in private. Rather than enjoy his amazing find, his greed ends up destroying him. When he is sitting in jail with the look of WTF.. where did I go wrong, as Michigan J Frog belts out a lovely tune, is simply priceless. My son requested this one. When I ask people what’s your favourite cartoon, they often respond with this gem. It makes me smile…. I am easy to please, mostly. heehee.
* Note, I forgot to cover this one with white gesso before I painted & only gave myself more work & the paint absorbed into the wood.. learn from my mistake - cover with gesso first. :)
I’ve often been asked to teach & have taught many children, but I had the pleasure of teaching another adult recently & I have to say - it brought me joy! Her too. Some simple instruction - I introduced her to gouache as I find it easy & allows for more freedom & even mistakes, compared to water colour or acrylic. If a person is excited to learn- the results will soon flourish! Knowing I have helped someone express themselves with paint - on a new creative journey is more pleasing than selling my art, sharing my gift is what it’s all about. We are here to serve. I’m also very aware of what art does for our mental well being.
I’ve decided to continue. It’s also providing an opportunity for me to socialize (in person) again, in my own Eden, on my own terms… but it will still be by invite only as I am aware & content- happy even’ with my own company & creating. Painting is my bliss, sharing with others will be an added bonus. Being open to instruction & allowing herself to just let go... her creations were terrific! I’d never of known it was her first time with the results she obtained.
Yay!
Today - is another beautiful day to paint…
Some other great news: the weather cooling right down at night has slowed the mosquitos - celebrations all around!
Created to create - what will you do today?
