Froggy mushroom stone. 8 x 8 gouache on black.
Happiness is easier to achieve than one might think.. that's the problem. Thinking'. I'm reading a book by Harvard on 'Happiness' and the extensive studies done on those that appear most happy. The happiest are those that don't sit and think too much, especially about the past or future. Rather, those that accomplish small progressive tasks regularly, are the happiest! This applies to those working and not working, perhaps working or creating', creating is the best as it keeps you in the NOW better than anything, being inspired, enjoying the task at hand. Many employers would be better off understanding this to keep employed happy = productive. It costs a company more to constantly train staff turnarounds than to keep happy productive employees.
Everything changes.. remember the days when the boss would take everyone out to celebrate with drinks and dancing, gone are those days- not because they want to be buzz kills but the act itself proved detrimental & was indeed a 'buzzkill', with (as everything) too much alcohol and partying prove to create more problems (just think of past Christmas office parties -yikes). Now, intelligent employers provide experiences' (sans alcohol) for happy employees. They also incorporate services as incentives - bring your dogs to work is a new perk for popular employers. Keeping creative, physically & emotionally are what keeps people happiest & recognition for positive progress. Finishing a painting, no matter how small from blank canvas to completed masterpiece is very satisfying an makes me happy, every single time!
Yesterday, I painting a gift' for a stranger which I'll mail out this weekend.
Storm will ask: what are you doing today? I usually reply "creating a new masterpiece!" :).
Who is to say what a masterpiece is? From sketch to finish -I am involved in the creation, keeping in the NOW, not pondering the past or even worried about the future, it's not just painting of course but more so - my Trust in God that allows me the freedom to happily amuse myself. Feeling happy' as if I've created a new tiny masterpiece each time - keeps me creating & happy.
Kamala Harris or Trump? Who knows... It appears Kamala is more of an opponent to Trump than Biden was and has the support to prove it, I don't know enough about her but yes, I think a female president would be a positive step in a more peaceful direction for Americans. It should be interesting to witness as the election nears. It's not an easy job' with the economy & so many struggling', the next president will have quite a task ahead of them. There was rumours of Michelle Obama running, that would have been interesting. Whom ever is chosen, I hope they help bring much needed PEACE to Americans & around the world. Who ever becomes president is who God wants in that position... I can't believe I'm even saying that (especially regarding Trump) but I understand, that is how it is to be.. Thy will be done, in all things.
All things are lessons God will have us learn... all good, eventually.
I'd like to share ftoday's lesson from ACIM, I find it very inspiring & absolutely love to start my day with
LOVE from our creator:
I will be still, and let the earth be still along with me.
And in that stillness we will find the peace of God.
It is within my heart, which witnesses to God Himself.
I can't help but remember long ago when I mentioned on social media I was reading 'ACIM' - someone commented:
That book will change your life!
It has indeed, I can't force anyone to read it, I can only share it has been and continues to be one of the most enlightening, inspiring, thought provoking, helpful books I've ever read. I have two copies now, one well worn. :)
The choice is yours! Read some fiction to amuse & distract or read something that will change your life (for the better).
Here is the work in progress.. so far, I'm pleased - do you know him?
