I love Morel Season! Gouache on black 8 x 8
I love morel season! It’s raining, spring rain is refreshing, all rain is but the spring rain washes away winter & readies the woods for mushrooms! Morel mushrooms will soon be here -as always I’m determined to spy & fry. I found some under some pine last year only tiny, I waited for them to grow bigger but the deer beat me to them, as well as a few puffballs. The creatures have first call on foraging in the woods so, I can’t complain.
The deer is not crossing the road.. the road, is crossing the forest.
I might paint that. I have a new friend who is a worm expert’, just the idea amuses me. I’m not a fan, I’ll admit, although I understand the importance for our planet. With rain also comes worms.. chickens like worms as do robins and I’ve seen a few of them searching the yard. Where would we be without birds? Let’s hope we never find out. Enjoy the day & the rain… soon there will be morel!
