Love is a messy desk! It's been a refreshing morning after completing the last project (a gift) I clean my brain pallet' and gouache pallet(s) with some sketchbook playing as I consider my next acrylic Saw. It might look messy to you but to me -it's inviting! JOY waiting to be explored! I want to tell you about what neat day we had, yesterday.
Storm and I went out to have my haircut. I had been having a moment the day before thinking 'why bother painting....'
as I moved another piece that I don't know where to put, I have so much art. A silly, why do I continue to create moment /crisis.. all artists get it, anyway.. I was feeling a bit frustrated at what I'm not even sure. I was talking with my hair stylist (she is amazing, I tell you Toronto friends' it's worth the drive, but she's understandably busy) anyhow, just chatting' or as Canadians say 'Shoot'n the shit.. ' about nothing in particular I asked where she lived.. not far, and I told her where I lived & that "my first step on the property - I knew, God put me here!" The next thing you know - I now know (& what are the odds) Her father built my house! How cool is that? She had fond memories of playing on the property when just a little girl, then "not a lot of trees but a lot of dirt." lol & shared some information that her dad had shared with her a long time ago, how the house had been blessed before built and how specific the owner was & it was his favourite build. So that was neat! BUT.. just before - another woman there in the washing hair chair (I didn't recognize because she had no makeup and a towel on her head-lol) said: Georgia!... & proceeded to tell me her name, thanked me again for that tiny Grossbeak I painted for her! What were the odds!? So a sign... that's why. That's why I paint every day.
You never know who's going to have their day brightened by a gift of your art from the heart.
There's more.. Storm took me to a dinner with a bunch of his friends not long ago and we sat at a shared table with a lovely, amusing couple who made me laugh a few times, the meal was delicious but I find everything The Millpond Restaurant makes has that 'homemade goodness' about it. Anyhow, the woman sitting at our table is a dog lover and I asked to see a photo and (it was small and not great) I said: send me one and I'll paint your pooch on a card! She said o.k.! ..well we went to this tiny Thrift store (at a church in Minden) which I love, I found 3 great tops - everything I own has paint on it so it's nice to have a few 'new' items I can feel good about being in and not stress over - IF I do happen to get paint on them. Well, I was not in the store five seconds when I spied a dog and knew - this is the dog I saw in the photo the other night and I must really be meant to paint it! My first thought was 'I need a photo' and took my own! What are the odds. Lovely to see the woman/owner, I had just met at dinner... It was a busy day and very social seeing as Im not socializing much - besides with my canine conspiracy companions- hahaha!
Anyway, yesterday I painted her dog when I came home, as I knew she'd get the card today - the dog was asking me to do it for Christmas! Done. We also had lunch at the Tai restaurant in Minden and it was delicious, what a great day... ending it with a messy desk was the icing on the cake! Give thanks for the Day The lord has made!
Thank you Lord for my reminders for those silly moments when I think.. why bother.
Thank you Lord for wonderful humans that instant put you at ease with their positive energy & kind hearts.
Thank you Lord for creative people - who can cut hair and make me feel like 'Farrah' if only for a while..lol.
Thank you for small reminders when we get tired and distracted & Thank you Lord for Dogs that demand to be painted.
