Time to level up... be better than I was yesterday & not just as a human trying to be kind but as an artist, expressing my love of creating by creating for the Creator! These are some of my current images from lesson online. playing with some new ideas for paintings. "Follow me", my already named, yet to be painted (lol) canvas, is on my mind with each lesson! The canvas is 6 x 36 and it's Jesus walking through the forest - acrylic. I can see the blank canvas as I paint these lessons - where I choose to focus - more importantly - WHO, I choose to focus on.
The lessons are with Ruth Wilshaw I've mentioned her before & I think she's a fabulous Gouache teacher, her lessons are easy to follow along, I love the "look" and it will bring up my creativity to a new level - wait & see. Ruth also has a few free lessons online on YouTube, as well as many others but I like her lessons and take the months class where I then play catch up, no excuse - I don't know how to paint with so much available to us. This applies to just about anything, right now - isn't it an amazing time to be alive??? I'm painting follow me in a small sketch book first to play and incorporate a few mew things. It's great to figure out 'painting' on your own.. I was self taught but when you take a few lessons you propel & excel quicker - a creative boost. Less political circus, more painting.
Yesterday was Canada Day and it was lovely, perfect weather, Storm cooked, family visited. A few Canadian issues' were discussed & the consensus it seems is no one is pleased with Mark Carney. Frankly, it's all been predicted and is literally like watching a bad movie of a book I read. I've noticed frustrations with a few & been frustrated myself the past few weeks. God asks us to be JOYFUL... no need to worry about tomorrow as tomorrow will have enough worries of its own.
Taking a few lessons has been a mental creative boost & when I'm not painting, I'm thinking about my "Follow me" painting - I'm not pondering parasites, Trump, Carney, Didhe, Aliens, lists, immigration, bats or perverts the past or even the future! Yay. I'm giving my brain & body a break & nourishing my soul imagining walking through a beautiful sun drenched, thriving forest with Jesus, sans mosquitos, deer fly or blackly. heeheehee There will be dragonflies.
Note - for my lessons I'm using my HIMI kit I bought a while ago! I love this kit it was affordable and the variety of colours was great and I will invest in another with more colours. I'll let this kit sit a few months without use - then I lift the lid, spray it well, return the lid and they are good to go!, Every now and then I'll stir each pod with a skewer, they re-activate marvellously - if you want to start - I'd suggest you start with them. My favourite gouache paint: Windsor & Newton, no doubts I do prefer the consistency and vibrant shades that they produce, I use for more serious gouache paintings.
I bet I could create paintings of the same subject in both and most would see little difference - I just might try that, after painting my next painting.
The next month at least will be focusing on painting - my canvas will probably take at least a week... in between lot's of dog playing, gardening and prayer & life. Enjoy your day! Remember - you get to choose what you want to think about!
Time to podcast The Why Files (WF?) and take it to the next level. Rise up!
