He took the last can of 'Who Hash!' What terrible Grinch!
my favourite Christmas special, after decades of watching it, I know it off by heart. It came out when I was 2. What a team those two were - Theadore & Chuck! How cool would it have been to work with those two creating The Grinch. About the can of 'Who Hash'.. yeah, I doubt they are referring to Corned beef Hash - probably more about ' Who (Who Ville made) Hash - as in the Cannabis kind. If I had to speculate, that would be my guess. Some might think - Oh, they would never.. actually - they did, all the time. At first I left the background blank but then decided to give it a glittering greenish background (you can't really see it in the image) but it added the extra element of Christmas shimmer.
I'm reminded of a post on instagram I saw recently, I knew the second it came across my feed -it was fake. It was from a cartoon where Bugs takes a steamboat, dressed as a woman he turns to expose his tail and 'costume', someone took that image of Bugs Bunnys tail & the dress and added a butt hole and nut sack. Frig... poor bugs. The post then proceeds to tell us how warped cartoonist were back then. Warped? No, wacky, maybe. They, after all did not draw what was posted - that doesn't mean they didn't sneak in the occasional 'adult visual jokes. One obvious sign it's a Chuck Jones creation - Looney toons fans will know, is the cartoon where bugs is in the wrestling rink with a huge man, he bounds off the ropes and wraps himself around the big wrestlers head - this exact same visual is also in the Grinch, when Max is frightened riding the sleigh and he wraps himself around the Grinch's head. It' so Chuck! As were the vibrant backgrounds - blues& pinks with huge fancy bluish snowflakes. Each year I watch & get too many ideas and have to choose.. I chose this and another, if I have time.
Imagination is everything - these two proved it, STILL a Christmas animated cartoon favourite. I lost count how many times they've remade the Grinch. Max is such a sweet little dog, don't you justblove him? Max is one of the most popular Dog names ever, Snoopy and Scooby too - all inspired by a drawn cartoon from someones imagination. I named Arrow after the dog from The Point. All dogs are awesome but cartoon dogs are the ultimate doggos for me. If I ever get a white dog - he will be named Snoopy.
TV is already bombarded with Christmas movies - all sorts, I've decided against watching Jack Black as Satan instead of Santa'.. I like him but I've just decided not. The Devil is prevalent in society enough I don't want to see Christmas movies made about him.. I wonder - Do they mention Christ? "It's just a movie.." some will be thinking, is it? I've been reading and watching documentaries how we have been fed lies after lies including with our TV. Maybe not so much The Grinch but movies have been 'encouraged' & created to promote the normalcy of violence. They also thrive on FEAR- obviously. Our generation and those after have witnessed some serious screwed up visuals in movies the last couple of decades. Many things seen can not be unseen. When searching for movies I like to consider - will this enrich, improve my life or is at least an enjoyable to spend an hour or 2.
That being said - There was one I was holding off watching - Knock At The Cabin is wild, very thought provoking.
We enjoyed it. The little girl in the movie is one of the best tiniest actors I've seen. Not a Christmas movie.
There is one I am excited to see: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever - from Dallas Jenkins - creator of The Chosen. Filmed in Canada btw. I hope it's out for Christmas. We had MORE snow, it was a blizzard this morning! When it gets like this I wonder.. will it ever melt? lol. It sure is pretty and I am very Thankful I am staying home, painting. Have a creative day and if you don't have plans - The skill Hill 'Sir Sams opens this weekend! Say Hi to Storm if you see him.
