Ho Ho HomeGrown! Santa had a little 'test drive' to Canada to prepare for his long night of working. Imagine, this time next year it will be LEGAL in Canada to consume cannabis!
Ho Ho Ho!! Tempted to call one friend in particular and ask 'Remember when you remarked: "I was dreaming, IF I thought Cannabis would become legal in OUR LIFETIME!" I'm dreaming to think I'll ever hear her apologize.
I know it & she knows it. That is enough.
Dreamer I am!! I believe in miracles, dreams and signs!
Other than the GREED we are witnessing from our own ONTARIO government- Kathleen Wynn does appear not care about Ontarian's - it is obvious to EVERYONE she cares about $$$. She is bleeding us dry. Hydro, taxes and not legalization - glorified prohibition - is more like it. GREED especially obvious when Ontario is NOT willing to allow for privately owned dispensaries. Alberta appears IMO to be doing the best job at the moment for all with the exception of no allowance for vaporizers in hospitals. Which will be contested sooner or later and the patient will win. I for one would ONLY consider brain surgery again if that were my option after recovery - I KNOW from experience the other traditional prescribed medications did NOT work for me & is proven on my hospital records and only added stress after my surgery. I would demand and get legal representation if need be regarding the matter this time & I'm not a 'fan of sueing' unlike some who appear to make it a profession. *We all pay when we waste time with some issues.
I sent an e mail to our own Mayor of Georgina she has replied (& I thank her):
Hi Georgina, I have not made any comments regarding the issue of dispensaries in Georgina, other mayors and Council’s have taken a position on the issue but not here in Georgina. We have been waiting for the Federal and Provincial governments to provide more information to us at the municipal level, and we will have a report coming to our Council in the new year. Do I have concerns, yes, there are so many unknowns at this point, which I hope we will have answers to in the report to council.
& now .. just a few Points to ponder if NOT permitted a dispensary:
As adults, paying taxes, responsible hard working- we will be forced to DRIVE elsewhere (so much for being concerned with impaired driving) - to purchase a legal drug- which has been PROVEN (many times over) to be less harmful than ALCOHOL - of which we can easily purchase several places. Including online via the postal service.
Is this not the same as telling us "We can't be trusted to behave like responsible adults and come to our own decisions? It is STILL PROHIBITION and we have no choice.
What about the INCOME we will be losing as a community?
Instead of 'promoting small local business' - which already SUCKS in Georgina- (can someone PLEASE open a decent bakery in Keswick?) we would be promoting 'GO shop in Newmarket, Barrie or even Toronto and while you're there.. we all know how it works- you'll also get lunch, drinks and pick up a few other goodies you need. ALL money that could have been spent in KESWICK for example. In your own home town.
How about jobs? I know people in the business - no kidding. I KNOW the jobs this business will create- if we stall- we will be losing opportunities and losing business FACT - it will ONLY be a matter of time anyway. READ the news - it's not fake numbers $$$ have you read how much some have already made? Phhhhhbt...
Employees, advertising dollars (local) promotional events, like all businesses the opportunities just starting can be limitless! Rent- revenue giving back to the local communities. Surrounding businesses will benefit instead of sitting beside an empty unit.
Without reading I've no doubts they will claim it's for the safety of our children. BULLSHIT. Nothing is going to stop kids who want to try cannabis - it never HAS for centuries - this is fear mongering. I'd like to ask Margaret to consider what she'd be more comfortable with: a kid sitting down with a bottle of Jack Daniels or a Joint, because I'm not comfortable with either myself- but I am aware - by removing one of these choices we encourage the other. The first Gateway DRUG for far too many is ALCOHOL & It's deadly. It's just as easy a drive/bus trip to newmarket when no options are available - WE ARE FORCED to continue to use the black market - Georgina will still be buying corner drugs illegally- because it will be easier.
Georgina residents - if you believe in cannabis or not, if you will use it or not - it is an opportunity for business, growth and it is obvious to even our own government expected to rake in $400 million they expect in taxes - .. it should be OBVIOUS to any small community - it's gong to be big business. It will help in keeping out street dealers if there is an option to go an buy clean, safe, affordable "recreational" medicine.
It will forever be MEDICINE in my mind. Thank God.
You can reach our Mayor and share your own opinion (please do it respectfully.. I called 'that' politician a "Coward." in a facebook message- he responded - more on it soon) I think it's only fair we get to express how we feel .. after all - we pay their salary. I thinks Margaret is doing a thoughtful job so far for the GOOD of all Georgia... not just me, Georgia. lol
I do miss seeing Robs smiling face.
Everyone in every community should be permitted to weight in on these issues which effect where we live.

*WE ALL suffer while valuable time, resources, police, great minds minds are prevented from solving true violent crimes & murders like mising WOMEN for one example...
Child trafficking for 2, robbery, physical abuse charges, sexual assault, VIOLENT crimes where humans/animalws are actually getting hurt instead of this time wasting, distraction called cannabis.
Does everyone forget the definition of cannabis?
This is not rocket science my fellow Canadians - humans.
